Giants designated INF Ramiro Pena for assignment.

The veteran infielder was squeezed off of the Giants roster with the addition of Eduardo Nunez and return of Hunter Pence. There's a decent chance that he'll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as organizational depth in the minors for the Giants.
Jul 30 - 2:29 PM

Ramiro Pena (groin) struck out as a pinch-hitter in Thursday's loss to the Nationals.

Pena was listed from a game earlier this week after getting hit with a ball in the groin area. He'll be fine.
Jul 29 - 9:00 AM

Ramiro Pena was scratched from the Giants' lineup on Wednesday due to a sore groin.

Pena took a baseball to a bad place on Tuesday night and wasn't feeling so hot during pregame drills on Wednesday. Grant Green will start at second base versus the Reds.
Jul 27 - 3:10 PM

Ramiro Pena made his presence felt off the bench on Sunday, delivering a pinch-hit RBI double in the 11th inning, propelling the Giants to a 5-4 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Pena, who had been unavailable since spraining his ankle against the Athletics on Wednesday, was finally able to pinch-hit on Sunday and wound up in a heroic role because of it. He has been outstanding since being recalled from Triple-A, slashing .417/.432/.556 with seven RBI.
Jul 3 - 8:10 PM

Ramiro Pena (ankle) is hoping he'll be available off the bench Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Pena sprained his ankle in a game Wednesday against Oakland. His condition has improved steadily since then and he could be ready to join the lineup early next week. He's hit .400 over 35 at-bats since arriving in the big leagues last month.
Jul 2 - 8:06 PM

Ramiro Pena's MRI revealed a sprained ankle.

Pena suffered the injury in last night's loss to Oakland. The injury will keep him out of the lineup for the next 5-7 days, though Pena could be available to pinch-hit this weekend. He's hit .400 with six RBI since arriving in the big leagues about three weeks ago.
Jun 30 - 9:00 PM

Ramiro Pena has elected free agency.

Pena was designated for assignment to make room on the Braves' 40-man roster, and he's chosen to test the market rather than accept an assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 29-year-old batted .245/.304/.347 in 81 games with the Braves this past season.

Braves sent INF Ramiro Pena outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Pena was designated for assignment earlier in the week to make room on the 40-man roster. He was arbitration eligible this winter, which may have played a role in the move as well. It's unclear if he'll accept the assignment or attempt to find a better opportunity elsewhere through free agency.

Braves designated 2B Ramiro Pena for assignment.

Pena batted .245/.304/.347 in a reserve role this past season. The 29-year-old was removed from the 40-man roster so the club could protect some young players from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft.

Ramiro Pena went 2-for-4 with a homer as the Braves' No. 9 hitter on Monday.

If the Braves decide to replace Dan Uggla, it's expected to be with Triple-A Gwinnett's Tommy La Stella. Pena, though, is probably a better defender than both of those guys, and he's been a reasonable enough hitter in 129 at-bats over the last two years. He likely earned himself another start on Tuesday anyway.

Ramiro Pena belted a three-run homer, his first of the season, in Friday's extra-inning win over the Nationals.

Pena's long ball off Tanner Roark highlighted a four-run uprising in the second inning. With his 1-for-4 effort on Friday, the light-hitting infielder is now hitting .222/.222/.556 in limited action on the year.
