Nationals recalled C Jhonatan Solano from Triple-A Syracuse.

He'll serve as an extra catcher while Jesus Flores recovers from a hamstring injury. Solano, 26, was hitting .250 (13-for-52) with two doubles, two RBI in 13 games at the Triple-A level this year and can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Nationals purchased the contract of C Jhonatan Solano from Triple-A Syracuse.

Solano, 26, batted .275/.325/.388 with five homers, 33 RBI and a .719 OPS over 279 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level. He is known as a solid defender, so one wonders if the Nationals kept him with the idea of developing him as a backup catcher and dealing from their surplus of Jesus Flores and Derek Norris.
