Diamondbacks acquired OF Brett Jackson from the Cubs in exchange for RHP Blake Cooper.
It's hard to believe that just a couple years ago Jackson was the Cubs' best position prospect. The 26-year-old hit .175/.303/.342 for the big club back in 2012 and has posted nearly identical horrible lines at Triple-A the last two seasons (.210/.298/.348 in 2014). He'll try to get back on track in the desert. Aug 15 - 8:35 AM

Brett Jackson has been placed on the disabled list at Triple-A Iowa with a right oblique strain.

The recovery timetable for an oblique strain is usually 3-5 weeks. Jackson was batting just .121/.194/.273 through 36 plate appearances this season for Iowa. The 25-year-old former top prospect is quickly falling off the radar.

Brett Jackson went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Jackson launched a three-run homer in the eighth inning and drove in the winning runs with a single in the ninth. The five-RBI day raised his spring runs batted in to seven, but the outfielder is batting just .231. He's nothing more than a reserve outfielder for the Cubs this year.

Brett Jackson (right calf strain) will be sent to Chicago's facility in Arizona to begin rehabbing.

Jackson was placed on the Triple-A 7-day disabled list with a right calf strain on June 22. He may be assigned to Double-A when he's ready to play, before returning to Triple-A Iowa. The 24-year-old batted just .223/.300/.367 with 77 strikeouts in 215 at-bats earlier this season on the farm.

Triple-A Iowa outfielder Brett Jackson was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a right calf strain.

Jackson has struggled at the Triple-A level this season, batting just .223/.300/.367 with 77 strikeouts in 215 at-bats. The 24-year-old was once considered a top prospect, but his future is going to remain murky if he doesn't start hitting better at some point.

Cubs optioned OF Brett Jackson to Triple-A Iowa.

Brett Jackson (shoulder) is expected back in the lineup Thursday.

He's been out of commission for over a week due to right shoulder inflammation. Jackson will begin the season at Triple-A while he works on his new swing.

Brett Jackson will be sidelined for at least a week with right shoulder inflammation.

An MRI confirmed that Jackson isn't dealing with any structural damage, but there's no reason for the Cubs to take any chances at this point. Jackson is expected to open this season at Triple-A Iowa, so the injury will likely prevent him from making the Opening Day roster.

Brett Jackson is not in the lineup Friday due to some minor soreness in his right shoulder.

It's not considered to be a big deal. Jackson should return to action in a few days.

Brett Jackson is making a strong impression early in spring training and feels that his new swing is a major reason for his success.

After struggling to make consistent contact last season, Jackson worked hard over the offseason to completely overhaul his swing. He tallied three hits in an intersquad game on Friday and is confident he'll keep rolling when the actual games begin. He's still slated to open the season at Triple-A Iowa, but he could force his way onto the Opening Day roster with an impressive spring.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Tuesday that Brett Jackson has completely overhauled his swing.

Jackson recently spent time with Sveum and and the Cubs hitting coaches in Mesa and has apparently made "huge strides." "I think he's got a good base to work with going into the rest of the winter and going into Spring Training to understand the art of hitting, so to speak," said Sveum. "Sometimes it gets lost and taught the wrong way." Jackson, 24, batted just .175/.303/.342 with 59 strikeouts over 142 plate appearances during his first taste of the big leagues this past season and is expected to begin 2013 in the minors.

Brett Jackson is expected to begin next season at Triple-A Iowa.

Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein conceded that Jackson wasn't ready for the majors when he was promoted in August, and the outfielder went on to bat just .175/.303/.342 while striking out 59 times over 142 plate appearances. However, the team thought he would benefit from having to make adjustments at the big league-level, as well as taking tutelage from the coaching staff. The 24-year-old is still the center fielder of the future, but they're not ready to hand him the everyday job just yet. It's possible he could change their thinking if he mashes in spring training.

Brett Jackson is back in the Cubs' lineup Friday.

Jackson missed five games after banging his right knee on the outfield wall following a terrific catch last week. He's hitting only .191/.309/.404 with 48 strikeouts over 110 plate appearances this season.
