Dodgers released OF Anthony Jackson.
Jackson, 28, was batting just .240/.327/.295 with zero home runs and four RBI in 147 plate appearances this season at Double-A Chattanooga. The Dodgers acquired him from the Rockies back in November 2010 in a deal involving veteran reliever Octavio Dotel. Thu, Aug 23, 2012 01:02:00 PM

Date:

Dodgers acquired OF Anthony Jackson from Rockies to complete the trade for RHP Octavio Dotel.

The Dotel trade looks even worse for the Dodgers. Jackson, 26, has a .252/.331/.340 batting line over five professional seasons and has never played above Double-A. He possesses good speed and adds some flexibility at second base, but is more likely to be organizational depth than anything else.

Double-A Tulsa's Anthony Jackson hit a pair of homers on Friday.

That's twice as many homers as the 5-foot-8 leadoff man had in 430 at-bats for Single-A Modesto last season. He hit .298/.361/.386 with 39 steals then. Speed and defense may get him to the majors as a fifth outfielder someday, but it's doubtful that he'll be anything more.
