Ryan Flaherty hit a solo home run, the only run the Orioles could muster on the afternoon, in Wednesday's ALCS Game 4 loss to the Royals.
Flaherty's home run off Royals starter Jason Vargas in the third inning cut the Royals' lead to 2-1, but it was as close as the Orioles would come. Surprisingly, Flaherty finished the series as one of the Orioles' most productive hitters, batting .333 (4-for-12) with a home run and three RBI. Oct 15 - 7:21 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 3-for-5 and drove home a pair of runs as the Orioles dropped Game 1 of the ALCS to the Royals in extra innings on Friday.

Flaherty delivered one of the biggest hits of the night for the Orioles, plating two runs with a two-out double in the fifth inning to pull the O's to within a run at 5-4. With the three-hit attack, he's now hitting .357 (5-for-14) with three RBI in the postseason.
Oct 11 - 12:59 AM

Ryan Flaherty hit his seventh homer Monday in the win over the Blue Jays.

It was a two-run shot off Marcus Stroman. Flaherty started at second base tonight and later moved to third after Jonathan Schoop was brought in for defense. Schoop remains a starter, so Flaherty is really competing with Kelly Johnson for time at third. He's helped his case lately by hitting .343 in 35 at-bats this month.
Sep 15 - 10:46 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout as the Orioles fell to the Rays.

Flaherty drew the start at shortstop in the place of J.J. Hardy who is dealing with a hamstring injury. He has had a rough season at the plate, slashing .201/.265/.326 with six homers and 24 RBI.
Sep 6 - 4:31 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-3 with a homer against the Red Sox on Monday.

Flaherty has been a bit player since Manny Machado came off the DL; tonight's start was his second in June and third in two weeks. Of course, he didn't do much of anything to earn a bigger role while Machado was out, so he can't really complain. Even after tonight, he's hitting .221 with just two homers in 104 at-bats.
Jun 9 - 11:48 PM

Ryan Flaherty had a rough day at the dish in Saturday's loss to the Indians, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

The rough afternoon drops Flaherty to a disappointing .202/.279/.287 on the season. With Steve Lombardozzi recalled on Saturday, he'll have to pick up the pace offensively or could risk demotion the next time they need to send out an infielder.
May 24 - 3:45 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Indians.

Flaherty went deep off of Justin Masterson in the sixth inning, part of a five-run inning in which the Orioles temporarily took the lead. It was Flaherty's first homer of the season, as he has otherwise been impotent at the plate, slashing .207/.281/.299 in 96 plate appearances.
May 22 - 11:34 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rays.

Flaherty came up with the bases loaded and one out in the eighth inning, and his RBI single broke a 3-3 tie. He also doubled in the game. Flaherty played a lot in the early going with Manny Machado on the shelf, but with Machado back he's made just two starts since April 26.
May 6 - 11:14 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with two RBI as the Orioles' No. 9 hitter on Monday.

Those were Flaherty's first two RBI of the season. He entered the night with a .152/.200/.212 line in 33 at-bats.
Apr 14 - 10:49 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Flaherty had a nice game against the Yankees on Tuesday, but he's still hitting just .152 (5-for-33) with a 9/1 K/BB ratio through 10 games. It will be interesting to see if the Orioles consider sending him down and going with Steve Lombardozzi and Jonathan Schoop at second base once Manny Machado (knee) comes of the disabled list.
Apr 11 - 9:44 PM

Ryan Flaherty is still hitless for the season after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Friday.

Flaherty has started all four games for the Orioles and gone 0-for-15 with seven strikeouts. Expect him to take a seat on Saturday. If he continues to slump, the Orioles would have the option of demoting him and keeping Jonathan Schoop once Manny Machado returns.
Apr 4 - 5:04 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 0-for-4 and committed an error at third base Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Flaherty has started both games for the Orioles, going 0-for-7. The team intends to rotate Flaherty, Steve Lombardozzi and Jonathan Schoop between second and third while Manny Machado is out, so Flaherty is probably due to take a seat on Thursday.
Apr 2 - 9:57 PM

Ryan Flaherty was the lone Orioles starter not to reach base Friday, going 0-for-4 against the Braves.

Flaherty has had a decent spring, hitting .282 with a homer and four doubles in 39 at-bats, but Jonathan Schoop has outplayed him and could win the starting second base job. Flaherty could still play third base initially if Manny Machado isn't ready, but he might fall back into a utility role afterwards.
Mar 21 - 3:54 PM

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer off A.J. Burnett and two walks Friday against the Phillies.

Flaherty played third base today. He was supposed to focus primarily on second this spring as he attempts to win the starting job there, but the Orioles do want to cover their bases in case Manny Machado isn't ready to go on Opening Day.
Mar 7 - 5:35 PM

Steve Melewski of MASN Sports reports that Ryan Flaherty has bulked up this winter, adding nine pounds while working out in Baltimore with B.J. Surhoff and Mike Bordick.

The 27-year-old is in position to earn the Orioles starting second base job this spring, and appears very motivated to do so. He struggled in a part-time role during the 2013 campaign, slashing just .224/.293/.390, but did smack 10 homers and drive home 27 runs in only 246 at-bats.
