Ryan Flaherty tripled in his long at-bat off the bench Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Flaherty was making his third appearance since returning from a 10-day absence due to a sore shoulder. Barring a setback, he'll have his usual spot on the bench come Opening Day. He's not going to play much while everyone is healthy, though. Mar 26 - 3:45 PM

Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) is expected to return to game action on Friday.

Flaherty has been dealing with shoulder soreness for most of the Grapefruit League schedule, but he has felt improvement since receiving a cortisone shot. The original expectation was that he would return to game action on Tuesday, but the Orioles are going to hold him out through Thursday's off-day. The expectation is that he'll be fine for the start of the regular season.

Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) could return to Grapefruit League games as soon as Monday.

Flaherty has been nursing a sore right shoulder for much of camp, but he's feeling better after receiving a cortisone shot. He's expected to be fine for Opening Day.
Mar 19 - 10:06 AM

Ryan Flaherty told reporters Thursday that his right shoulder feels "100 percent."

Flaherty was administered a cortisone injection earlier this week after battling minor shoulder soreness for several days. It looks like the 30-year-old utilityman will be ready for the 2017 regular season.
Mar 16 - 1:16 PM

Ryan Flaherty received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder.

Flaherty has been dealing with shoulder soreness for a couple of weeks now, so the hope is that the cortisone shot will get him back on track. He'll be shut down for a few days for now.
Mar 14 - 11:16 AM

Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) played catch Thursday without issue.

Flaherty, who's been battling through some early-camp arm soreness, is likely to make his Grapefruit League debut on Friday. The versatile utilityman should be locked into a spot on the Orioles bench to open the 2017 regular season despite batting .217 with a .610 OPS in 74 games last year.
Mar 2 - 9:02 AM

Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) still isn't game-ready.

Flaherty has been dealing with some shoulder soreness of late. Orioles manager Buck Showalter was hoping that he'd be ready to play by Wednesday, but it turns out he might need a few more days. Flaherty batted just .217 with three home runs and a .610 OPS in 74 games last season, but he projects to serve in a utility role for Baltimore again in 2017.
Mar 1 - 11:22 AM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Ryan Flaherty (shoulder) should be ready to play by Wednesday.

Flaherty is fighting through some early-spring shoulder soreness. It's not a big deal. The versatile 30-year-old appears locked into a spot on the Baltimore bench to open the 2017 regular season.
Feb 27 - 3:50 PM

Ryan Flaherty is out of the Orioles' Grapefruit League lineup on Monday due to arm soreness.

It's not believed to be serious. The versatile Flaherty should have a spot on the Baltimore bench to open the 2017 regular season. Chris Johnson is playing third base for the O's on Monday afternoon in Florida.
Feb 27 - 1:02 PM

Orioles and INF/OF Ryan Flaherty avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.8 million contract.

It was only a small raise from the $1.5 million he was paid last year, but it's still a nice payday for a utility player. The 30-year-old played a variety of positions last season, but he batted just .217 with three home runs and a .610 OPS in 74 games. He's unlikely to make a fantasy impact this year.
Jan 12 - 7:57 PM

Ryan Flaherty drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning but it wasn't enough to prevent the Orioles from losing to the Giants on Saturday.

The Orioles were playing in a National League park, so Flaherty was called upon to bat for the pitcher in the ninth inning with his team trailing by six runs. He did his job, singling to left to drive in Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. Flaherty is a utility infielder and doesn't get many at-bats, largely because he doesn't deserve them. He is batting .221 with three homers and 15 RBI on the season.

Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Friday.

It was his second home run of the season. Flaherty has seen steady playing time at third base with JJ Hardy (foot) sidelined, but he hasn’t done much to take advantage of it. Even with a nice night on Friday, he’s batting just .219/.303/.314 on the year. Hardy is expected to rejoin the Orioles this weekend, so Flaherty will move back to a bench role.

Orioles recalled INF Ryan Flaherty from Triple-A Norfolk.

He'll replace the injured J.J. Hardy (foot) on the active roster. It's unclear how the Orioles intend to play it in their infield with Hardy sidelined, but Flaherty should see some starts. The 29-year-old is a .215 hitter in the majors, but he offers some pop and could be relevant in AL-only leagues if the playing time is there.

Ryan Flaherty is expected to return to the Orioles' active roster on Tuesday.

Flaherty was just optioned to Norfolk a week ago, but the O's need him again to provide infield depth while J.J. Hardy recovers from a fracture in his foot. Paul Janish will also be worked into the mix once he returns from the Triple-A paternity leave list. Manny Machado could be the everyday guy at short.
