Marlins designated OF Bryan Petersen for assignment.

Petersen batted .195/.272/.257 with 12 extra-base hits in 273 plate appearances last season for Miami. The 26-year-old probably won't draw much interest on waivers.

Bryan Petersen went 3-for-5 with a run scored Saturday in his return to action.

Petersen had been unavailable for the last couple days after tweaking his AC joint attempting to make a diving catch in Wednesday’s game. He should be fine moving forward.

Bryan Petersen will likely be unavailable for the next few days due to a sore right shoulder.

Petersen tweaked his AC joint attempting to make a diving catch in Wednesday’s game. With Justin Ruggiano (back) also injured, the Marlins are running short on outfield depth.

Marlins recalled OF Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans.

He'll take the roster spot of Omar Infante, who was traded to the Tigers on Monday night. Petersen is batting just .215/.305/.250 in 60 plate appearances at the big league level this year. The 26-year-old will likely function as a reserve outfielder, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Marlins optioned OF Bryan Petersen to Triple-A New Orleans.

He was sent down to make room for Austin Kearns' return from the disabled list. Petersen batted just .212/.305/.250 in 60 plate appearances during his time with the big club. We'll likely see a combination of Chris Coghlan and Justin Ruggiano in center field until Emilio Bonifacio (thumb) is ready to return.

Bryan Petersen singled home the Marlins' lone run in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Braves.

Petersen knocked home Giancarlo Stanton after he doubled in the fifth. The hits would prove to be Miami's only two of the night. Petersen is batting just .212/.305/.250 through 60 plate appearances this season.

Marlins recalled OF Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans.

Petersen has already made a couple of trips between Miami and NOLA this year, and is likely to make several more as the summer wears on. He has zero hits and three strikeouts in four plate appearances with the Fish and can be ignored in all fantasy leagues.

Marlins optioned OF Bryan Petersen to Triple-A New Orleans.

A very short-lived stay in the bigs for Petersen, who went hitless and struck out three times in four at-bats. He'll continue to serve as outfield depth in Triple-A.

Marlins recalled OF Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans.

Petersen didn't exactly play poorly this spring, but he was beaten out for a bench spot by Austin Kearns and Chris Coghlan. He will now replace Coghlan on the roster. For now, he isn't worth a look in fantasy leagues. But keep in mind that he has nothing left to prove at Triple-A and could be worth a look in NL-only formats if he sees some starts.

Marlins optioned OF Bryan Petersen to Triple-A New Orleans.

Petersen didn't exactly play poorly this spring, batting .250 (11-for-44) with a homer and four stolen bases, but sometimes having options left works against you at this time of the year. Austin Kearns and Chris Coghlan now both have a pretty good shot to be with the team on Opening Day. The Marlins also reassigned right-hander J.D. Martin and infielder Nick Green to minor league camp.

Bryan Petersen went 3-for-3 with a stolen base in a rare start Friday.

Petersen began the game in center field before moving to left field when Logan Morrison was taken out for defensive purposes. He's actually started three of four games since he belted a pinch-hit homer Sunday, and you'd think he's likely earned some more time after tonight's showing. Petersen is batting .351/.434/.569 this year at Triple-A, so he could be worth a look in NL-only formats if he continues to see some starts.

It will be his second stint with the big club after he went hitless in four May at-bats. Petersen, who is batting .351/.434/.569 with 11 homers at Triple-A this season, will give the Marlins a left-handed bat off the bench.
