The 28-year-old outfielder said that he had several options to choose from before electing to sign with the Cubs. Perez appeared in 22 contests for the Giants in 2015, slashing .282/.300/.359 with two RBI in just 39 at-bats. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder role this spring.

Perez tweaked his oblique in Sunday's game, and there's just not enough time left in the year for him to return. Placing him on the 60-day DL freed up a 40-man roster spot for Kevin Frandsen.

Perez appeared to injure his hand or wrist on a swing. He was in obvious pain before departing with the training staff. The Giants should have an update on his status shortly.

Juan Perez went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored as the Giants topped the Diamondbacks in Sunday's Cactus League tilt.

With Hunter Pence sidelined for the start of the regular season, Perez has an opportunity to seize playing time in the Giants outfield with a strong showing this spring. Thus far, he's hitting .286 (6-for-20) with three doubles, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Juan Perez clobbered a two-run double in the eighth inning on Sunday, helping to lead the Giants to a victory over the Royals in Game 5 of the World Series, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.

Perez entered the game as a defensive replacement for Travis Ishikawa and in his first plate appearance smashed a Wade Davis offering off the top of the wall to provide a pair of insurance runs. Perez is now 4-for-21 with three RBI in the postseason.
