Japan’s Chiba Lotte Marines have signed infielder Yamaico Navarro to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.
Navarro began his professional baseball career in the United States as an 18-year-old back in 2006 and he saw major league action with the Red Sox, Royals, Pirates, and Orioles between 2010-2013. But the 28-year-old infielder has been playing in Asia for the last two seasons and it has been a better situation for him in a lot of ways. Navarro, a native of the Dominican Republic, slashed .287/.393/.596 with 48 home runs, 137 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 140 games last year for the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.
