Albert Suarez allowed two earned runs in five innings Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals.
Suarez pitched pretty well other than a two-run Aledmys Diaz homer, but he was out-dueled by Cardinals youngster Alex Reyes. Suarez gave up five total hits and one walk while striking out two. He holds a 4.16 ERA. Sep 18 - 7:04 PM

Albert Suarez kept the scoreboard relatively clean in Tuesday's no-decision against the Padres, allowing one run on six hits over five innings.

Suarez struck out two and walked one on the evening. The lone run to score on his watch touched the plate courtesy of a Luis Sardinas RBI single in the third inning. Over the course of 20 appearances (10 starts), the 26-year-old right-hander has pitched to a 4.20 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. A home showdown with the Cardinals shows next on his schedule.
Sep 14 - 1:47 AM

Albert Suarez pitched well in a loss to the Cubs on Friday afternoon, surrendering two runs on three hits over his five frames.

Suarez walked two and punched out three on the day. The right-hander had thrown just 88 pitches in the ballgame before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. He'll continue to occupy Matt Cain's spot in the starting rotation while Cain gets himself back in track out of the bullpen. He draws a very tough assignment his next time out, taking on the Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday.
Sep 2 - 5:00 PM

Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced Thursday that Albert Suarez would make another start for the Giants on Friday against the Cubs in Chicago.

Bochy indicated that he liked how the right-hander threw the ball in his last start. Matt Cain didn't look sharp in his final rehab outing, so he'll return to the club's bullpen while Suarez continues to fill in.
Sep 1 - 6:56 PM

Albert Suarez got hit with a loss after giving up three runs in 4 1/3 innings to the Braves on Saturday.

All of the damage came on a three-run bomb by Matt Kemp in the fourth inning. Suarez fanned five batters while giving up two free passes and five base hits. He is now 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 60 innings split between the rotation and the bullpen. He has also been called up and sent down to Triple-A multiple times this year. He is no more than a shaky streamer in fantasy leagues.
Aug 28 - 12:50 AM

Giants recalled RHP Albert Suarez from Triple-A Sacramento.

The 26-year-old hurler has appeared in 16 games for the Giants this season (six starts), compiling a 4.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 40/17 K/BB ratio. He could be worth a look as a streaming option against the Braves on Saturday.
Aug 27 - 3:11 PM

Giants optioned RHP Albert Suarez to Triple-A Sacramento.

He's a casualty of the Giants' trade deadline moves. Suarez, 26, owns a 4.20 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 55 2/3 innings this season at the major league level.
Aug 2 - 5:34 PM

Giants recalled RHP Albert Suarez from Triple-A Sacramento.

As Cory Gearrin is being placed on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, the Giants needed a healthy arm in the pen. Enter Suarez. The 26-year-old right-hander held a 3.72 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 33/12 K/BB ratio in 12 games (including six starts) prior to being optioned down on July 4. There is no fantasy upside here.
Jul 6 - 8:23 PM

Giants optioned RHP Albert Suarez to Triple-A Sacramento.

The move clears a spot for Sergio Romo's return from the disabled list. Suarez has a 3.72 ERA and 33/12 K/BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings as a starter and reliever this season. He should get another shot soon.
Jul 4 - 4:14 PM

Albert Suarez pitched well in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks, scattering six hits over six innings of two-run ball.

Suarez punched out five on the day without issuing a free pass. He gave up an RBI double to Brandon Drury in the second inning, then kept the D'Backs at bay until Paul Goldschmidt's solo shot in the sixth inning. He has done a nice job filling in for the Giants, posting a 3-1 record, 3.72 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He'll take on these same Diamondbacks his next time out at home on Saturday.
Jul 3 - 8:07 PM

Albert Suarez surrendered three runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the A's.

Suarez struck out five and walked three on the evening. The A's would score one run against him in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth. With Matt Cain (hamstring) set to begin a rehab assignment, the 26-year-old Suarez's time as a starter could be limited.
Jun 29 - 2:45 AM

Albert Suarez allowed three runs -- two earned -- over five innings Thursday in a win over the Pirates.

Suarez gave up four hits, walked two and struck out six while again filling in for Matt Cain. He's probably going to make one more start next week, but Cain isn't expected to remain sidelined for too much longer.
Jun 23 - 4:26 PM

Albert Suarez allowed three runs, all on solo homers, over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday.

Homers hadn't been a problem for Suarez leading up to Saturday -- in fact, he hadn't allowed one all year before the start -- so it was a surprising development to say the least. That they were all solo shots is a bit of a silver lining, but it just wasn't his day. The Giants came back to win the game, sparing him his second loss, so the 26-year-old remains 2-1 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP ahead of Thursday's meeting with the Pirates.
Jun 18 - 10:44 PM

Albert Suarez turned in a nice start in Tuesday's no-decision against the Red Sox, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Suarez managed just one strikeout on the evening, but he also limited himself to just one walk. The Red Sox would score solitary runs in the second, third and seventh innings, but it was otherwise relatively smooth sailing for the 26-year-old right-hander. Through his first two major league starts, he has surrendered six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 11 1/3 innings. Those in deeper NL-only formats could take a speculative flier on Suarez, but he doesn't make for a palatable mixed-league option. If the Giants trot him back out for another start, it would come on the road against the Brewers.
Jun 8 - 2:48 AM

Albert Suarez made his first big-league start on Wednesday, allowing three earned runs in five innings of work in Wednesday’s extra-inning loss to the Braves.

Suarez found success in Double-A with the Angels in 2015 before signing a minor-league deal with the Giants this past winter. No one expected the 26-year-old to be making his first big-league start for a division-leading club in the beginning of June, but here we are. He allowed three hits and two walks, striking out four. He was decent enough. The righty didn’t factor into the decision, though, and isn’t fantasy relevant at this time.
