Albert Suarez surrendered three runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the A's.
Suarez struck out five and walked three on the evening. The A's would score one run against him in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth. With Matt Cain (hamstring) set to begin a rehab assignment, the 26-year-old Suarez's time as a starter could be limited. Jun 29 - 2:45 AM

Albert Suarez allowed three runs -- two earned -- over five innings Thursday in a win over the Pirates.

Suarez gave up four hits, walked two and struck out six while again filling in for Matt Cain. He's probably going to make one more start next week, but Cain isn't expected to remain sidelined for too much longer.

Albert Suarez allowed three runs, all on solo homers, over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rays on Saturday.

Homers hadn't been a problem for Suarez leading up to Saturday -- in fact, he hadn't allowed one all year before the start -- so it was a surprising development to say the least. That they were all solo shots is a bit of a silver lining, but it just wasn't his day. The Giants came back to win the game, sparing him his second loss, so the 26-year-old remains 2-1 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.11 WHIP ahead of Thursday's meeting with the Pirates.
Jun 18 - 10:44 PM

Albert Suarez turned in a nice start in Tuesday's no-decision against the Red Sox, surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Suarez managed just one strikeout on the evening, but he also limited himself to just one walk. The Red Sox would score solitary runs in the second, third and seventh innings, but it was otherwise relatively smooth sailing for the 26-year-old right-hander. Through his first two major league starts, he has surrendered six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 11 1/3 innings. Those in deeper NL-only formats could take a speculative flier on Suarez, but he doesn't make for a palatable mixed-league option. If the Giants trot him back out for another start, it would come on the road against the Brewers.
Jun 8 - 2:48 AM

Albert Suarez made his first big-league start on Wednesday, allowing three earned runs in five innings of work in Wednesday’s extra-inning loss to the Braves.

Suarez found success in Double-A with the Angels in 2015 before signing a minor-league deal with the Giants this past winter. No one expected the 26-year-old to be making his first big-league start for a division-leading club in the beginning of June, but here we are. He allowed three hits and two walks, striking out four. He was decent enough. The righty didn’t factor into the decision, though, and isn’t fantasy relevant at this time.
Jun 1 - 11:14 PM

Albert Suarez allowed three runs over five innings in relief on Friday against the Rockies.

Suarez entered the game in the second inning after Matt Cain left with a hamstring strain. The 26-year-old did fine under the circumstances, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out three. He was also credited with an RBI on a fielder’s choice. Suarez is a candidate to fill in if Cain needs a stint on the disabled list, though he’s not on the mixed league radar.
May 28 - 12:33 AM

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Albert Suarez from Triple-A Sacramento.

The 26-year-old hurler posted a 2.88 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 15/7 K/BB ratio across 25 innings at Triple-A. He'll work in the middle innings for the Giants.
May 7 - 7:56 AM

Giants signed RHP Albert Suarez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Suarez, 26, held a 2.98 ERA over 27 starts at Double-A with the Angels last season. He's never appeared in the majors and is merely a depth guy.
Jan 26 - 4:12 PM

Rays re-signed RHP Albert Suarez to a minor league contract.

Injuries limited the 24-year-old right-hander to just two games at Double-A Montgomery in 2013, where he posted a 1.42 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 6/2 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings. He'll continue to serve as organizational depth for the Rays.

Rays sent RHP Albert Suarez outright to High-A Charlotte.

Suarez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday. The 22-year-old right-hander will remain with the organization after posting a 4.08 ERA and 62/30 K/BB ratio over 125 2/3 innings this season at the High-A level.

Rays designated RHP Albert Suarez for assignment.

He was cleared to make room for Ben Francisco on the 40-man roster. Suarez, who turns 23 in October, has a 4.08 ERA and 62/30 K/BB ratio over 125 2/3 innings this season with High-A Charlotte. He was ranked as the organization's No. 17 prospect coming into the season.

Rays optioned RHP Albert Suarez to High-A Charlotte.

Suarez underwent knee surgery last month and allowed four runs over four innings during Grapefruit League action. The 21-year-old has been limited to just 133 1/3 over four seasons due to various health problems, but he still has the potential to develop into a mid-rotation starter in the long-term. Hak-Ju Lee, Bryan Augenstein and Matt Torra were also reassigned to minor league camp.

Rays pitching prospect Albert Suarez will undergo an exploratory left knee scope next Friday.

It's expected to sideline him 1-2 weeks. Suarez had no shot of making the Opening Day roster, but it's worth noting because the 21-year-old has had injury problems during his brief professional career. He'll slated to begin the year in High- or Double-A once recovered.
Sat, Feb 26, 2011 10:36:00 AM

Rays pitching prospect Albert Suarez has decided to undergo Tommy John surgery to repair his injured right elbow.

Suarez traveled to Tampa on Tuesday to be examined by club doctors, who later suggested the procedure. The 20-year-old was 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA in two starts for Single-A Hudson Valley this season. He'll aim to return to action by July of 2010.
