Tigers signed C Luis Exposito to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Exposito appeared in nine games with the Orioles in 2012, but he spent all of last season at the Triple-A level, where he hit .224/.279/.346 with four home runs and 23 RBI in 64 games. He'll likely serve as minor league catching depth for Detroit.

A 25-year-old career .269/.325/.420 minor-league hitter, Exposito won't be worth a look behind Matt Wieters in even exceptionally deep AL-only leagues.

Exposito was just designated for assignment by the Red Sox over the weekend. The 25-year-old backstop has a .268/.324/.420 batting line over parts of seven seasons in the minor and will likely serve as depth at the Triple-A level.
