Jamie Hoffman has elected free agency.

Hoffman was claimed off waivers by the Rockies in early December but never stood much of a shot of cracking Colorado's Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old outfielder posted a cool .853 OPS with 22 home runs and 84 RBI in 133 games last year at the Triple-A level, and should be able to attract interest on the open market.

Dodgers recalled OF Jamie Hoffman from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman, 26, batted .182 with one home run and seven RBI over 22 at-bats with the big club last season. He'll give the Dodgers an extra bat until Jon Garland is ready to return from the disabled list later this week.

Dodgers purchased the contract of OF Jamie Hoffman from Triple-A Albuquerque.

The move protects Hoffman, 26, from minor league free agency and the Rule 5 Draft. He hit .310/.369/.431 with 36 doubles and 17 stolen bases in 139 games at the Triple-A level this year and could reach the majors as a backup outfielder by the middle of the 2011 season.

Yankees returned outfielder Jamie Hoffmann to the Dodgers.

Hoffmann was selected by the Nationals in the Rule 5 draft and then sent to the Yankees in the Brian Bruney trade, but is now Dodgers property again. There's some speculation that New York may try to work out a trade for Hoffmann that would allow them to keep him without being on the 25-man roster all season.

Nationals traded OF Jamie Hoffmann to the Yankees to complete the Brian Bruney trade.

The Nats essentially made the pick for the Bombers. Hoffmann, 25, has a .283/.355/.401 line over five minor league seasons and batted .291/.390/.466 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI between Double-A and Triple-A in '09. There will likely be a roster crunch in the Bronx, but the defensive specialist will enter camp with a chance to win a job as a 25th man.

Nationals selected outfielder Jamie Hoffmann from the Dodgers with the first pick in the Rule 5 Draft.

It's assumed that Hoffmann will now be sent to the Yankees to complete the Brian Bruney trade. Hoffmann, 25, has a .283/.355/.401 line in parts of five seasons with the Dodgers' minor league system and projects as a extra outfielder in the big leagues. He batted .291/.390/.466 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Albuquerque in 2009. He made his major league debut with the Dodgers in May.

Dodgers designated outfielder Jamie Hoffmann for assignment.

The Dodgers were forced to clear a couple of spots on their 40-man roster Tuesday following their trades for Jon Garland and Jim Thome on Monday night. Hoffmann was one of the casualties. He spent a short time with the big league club in June, finishing with a .182/.167.409 batting line, two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in 22 at-bats.

Dodgers optioned outfielder Jamie Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman had two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in 22 at-bats, finishing with a .182/.167.409 batting line. He didn't see enough playing time for any sort of fantasy consideration.

Jamie Hoffmann drove in four runs against the Angels on Sunday but the Dodgers still lost the game 10-7.

Hoffmann hit a three-run homer and also added an RBI double, all of which were MLB firsts for him. He won't see enough playing time to be a fantasy option.

Hoffman started the season in Double-A before a recent promotion to Triple-A, where he was batting .257. He replaces the injured Xavier Paul on the roster.

Jamie Hoffman went 5-for-5 for Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday.

Repeating Double-A as a 24-year-old, Hoffmann is hitting .313/.482/.547 through 64 at-bats. He doesn't have the talent to be a major league regular, but he is a fine defender who can do enough things well to perhaps carve out a career as a bench player.
