Wilfredo Boscan - S - Padres

Padres acquired RHP Wilfredo Boscan from the Rangers.

The 23-year-old righty is the player to be named later in the trade that sent reliever Cory Burns to Texas. Boscan had a 3.75 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 89/28 K/BB ratio in 98 1/3 innings this past season at Double-A Frisco.

Wilfredo Boscan - S - Padres

Wilfredo Boscan allowed two hits over seven scoreless innings and struck out eight for low Single-A Hickory on Tuesday.

Boscan is just 19, but he has plenty of polish, and it's entirely possible that he'll reach the majors before the end of 2010 if he stays healthy. He has a 0.51 ERA and a 15/3 K/BB ratio after three starts for Hickory.

LF	1	Carlos Quentin Sidelined Carlos Quentin is out of the Padres' lineup again Wednesday after receiving an injection in his left knee Tuesday. The Padres were expecting Quentin to miss just one game after he aggravated his chronic knee injury on an awkward slide Monday. They changed their minds, though, deciding to give him the injection in hopes that he'll be ready on Friday after Thursday's off day. Jesus Guzman is playing left field Wednesday. May 22

	2	Clayton Richard D.L. Clayton Richard (illness) gave up two runs in six innings Tuesday in his second minor league rehab start with Triple-A Tucson. Richard, out since May 4 with an intestinal virus, gave up five hits and no walks while striking out four. The southpaw threw 65 out of 94 pitches for strikes. It should be enough for the Padres to activate him from the disabled list. May 22

	7	Cory Luebke D.L. Cory Luebke (elbow) has had his throwing program stopped for the second time this year in his attempt to return from Tommy John surgery. Luebke was shut down in early March before resuming sessions of catch on April 1, and he had progressed to throwing off a mound before this latest setback. Obviously none of this bodes well for his mission to return to live major league games by the All-Star break. May 18
	8	Joe Wieland D.L. Joe Wieland (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday at the Padres' spring training complex. Wieland, currently on the 60-day disabled list, is nine months removed from Tommy John surgery and will continued to be moved along slowly. If he can avoid setbacks, Wieland should be game-ready sometime after the All-Star break. Apr 27
	9	Casey Kelly D.L. Padres placed LHP Casey Kelly on the 60-day disabled list with a left elbow injury. Kelly will undergo Tommy John surgery during the first week of April. Obviously, he won't be making any contribution this season. Mar 31
