Eric Sogard went 3-for-3 with a walk before being removed for a pinch-hitter Friday against the White Sox.
Sogard has stepped up nicely with Ben Zobrist sidelined, batting .333 so far this month. There's still very little in the way of fantasy value to be had here, what with his lack of power and modest steal ability, but he's helping the A's. May 16 - 1:49 AM

Athletics and INF Eric Sogard avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.075 million contract.

It's a bit under the midpoint of figures exchanged last week. Sogard is a career .235/.296/.317 hitter but has a solid glove and should break camp as a backup infielder.

Eric Sogard requested $1.425 million and was offered $900,000 from the Athletics when arbitration figures were exchanged.

The 28-year-old is arbitration-eligible for the first time and stands to earn a nice raise over the $510,000 that he took home in 2014. He's expected to reprise his role as a utility infielder for the A's in 2015.

Eric Sogard went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base Saturday against the Mariners.

Sogard has regained the playing time he lost while hitting .186/.256/.218 during the first half of the season. He's at .294/.381/.373 in 102 at-bats since the All-Star break, so he's back playing full-time against righties now.

Eric Sogard will start at second base in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Tigers on Friday.

He'll get the nod at second base over Alberto Callaspo. Sogard batted just .266 with two homers and a .686 OPS this season, but he was more productive against right-handers.

Eric Sogard has gone 13-for-34 (.382) during his current nine-game hitting streak.

Sogard's average is up to .273 and ten of his past 20 hits have gone for extra bases, including eight doubles and two homers. He has replaced the injured John Jaso in the No. 2 spot in the lineup. "Over the (All-Star) break, I just kind of wanted to hit that reset button and kind of go back to finding that spring-training swing that I had," he said. "And from the first at-bat, I've felt really comfortable, seeing the ball really well and just having fun."

Eric Sogard is hitting in the No. 2 spot in the Athletics' lineup Monday.

Sogard hadn't previously batted higher than seventh, but the A's are rewarding him with a hot month that's seen him bat .296/.309/.537 with two homers and 10 RBI. He's worth using in deeper leagues while he's hitting towards the top of the order.

Eric Sogard went 2-for-4 with a home run Sunday against the Angels.

The home run was a two-run shot off Jerome Williams in the third inning. Despite the Athletics calling up Grant Green prior to the All-Star break, Sogard continues to receive the majority of starts at second base. He's batting .264/.333/.370 over 241 plate appearances.

Eric Sogard was removed for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 against the Indians on Monday.

Sogard's average is down to .227, and with just five walks, three extra-base hits and two RBI in 75 at-bats, he's not doing much to supplement it. The A's have to be weighing whether it's time to go to Jemile Weeks at second base, though Weeks is in a bit of a slump himself after a nice April in the PCL.

Eric Sogard went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and a steal as the Athletics edged the Astros 4-3 on Tuesday.

Sogard was hitting .235 with one extra-base hit before breaking out tonight. He figures to fade into a utility role eventually, with either Jemile Weeks or Hiroyuki Nakajima getting a look as a regular. In the meantime, he should hit for a solid average and post a nice OBP, but he won't do a whole lot for fantasy leaguers.

Eric Sogard will be the A's primary second baseman while Scott Sizemore nurses a left knee sprain.

Sogard had a huge spring but owns a .190/.243/.290 career batting line in 215 major league plate appearances. He's doubtful to carry value in mixed leagues.

Eric Sogard and Scott Sizemore are expected to platoon at second base for the Athletics at the beginning of the season.

That means the left-handed swinging Sogard is slated to see the most playing time initially. The 26-year-old has earned the trust of the A's staff by batting .480/.536/.700 with one homer and eight doubles this spring. His appeal in fantasy leagues is pretty limited, however.

Eric Sogard (back) recently suffered a high ankle sprain while on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento.

Sogard hurt himself while turning a double play during batting practice. He doesn't need crutches anymore, but the injury will sideline him indefinitely. Sogard's back ailment is no longer an issue.

Eric Sogard (back) took batting practice Saturday.

Sogard, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list August 7 with a back strain, is aiming to be activated when first eligible. And he is right on track thus far.
Sat, Aug 18, 2012 05:46:00 PM

Athletics placed INF Eric Sogard on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 7, with a back strain.

The severity of the issue isn't yet known. Sogard is batting .167 with two homers and a .480 OPS in 108 plate appearances with the A's this season. Brandon McCarthy was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding roster move and will start Friday night.
