CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles have acquired outfielder L.J. Hoes from the Astros.

No official announcement yet from the team. Hoes, who was originally drafted by the Orioles in 2008, appeared in eight games with the Astros this past season and batted .295/.383/.400 over 99 games at the Triple-A level.

Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports wrote that the Orioles "still have interest" in free agent OF L.J. Hoes.

Hoes elected to become a free agent in mid-October after spending the 2015 season with the Astros. He managed four hits in 15 at-bats with the big league squad. The 25-year-old outfielder was actually drafted by the Orioles in the third round of the 2008 amateur draft. For his career, he's the owner of a .237/.289/.328 batting line.

L.J. Hoes has elected free agency.

Hoes appeared in 101 games with the Astros from 2013-2014 after coming over from the Orioles in the Bud Norris deal, but he spent most of 2015 in Triple-A. He'll now test the open market for a better opportunity.

He's clearing room on the roster for the addition of Scott Kazmir. Hoes has hit .267/.313/.267 over eight games with the big club this season.

Hoes has been one of the best hitters in Triple-A, batting .327 with 47 RBI in 70 games for Fresno. This will be his second stint with Houston this year after playing two games with the Astros in late April.

Chris Cotillo of reports that the Angels are among the teams interested in L.J. Hoes.

Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reported previously that the Orioles are interested in not only Hoes but also Alex Presley. Hoes, who came up in the Baltimore organization, has spent almost all of the season at Triple-A, hitting .335/.417/.466 with three homers and 11 steals.

His stay with the Astros as a reserve outfielder turned out to be very brief. He'll continue to provide organizational depth and should be back with the big league club the next time a need arises.

Hoes was off to a sizzling .418/.458/.618 start at Fresno. He'll back up at all three outfield positions for the Astros.

Hoes hit decently during spring training, but he doesn't amount to much more than a backup outfielder. He is a career .235/.288/.331 hitter.

X-Rays came back negative on the hand and wrist of L.J. Hoes on Sunday.

Hoes was drilled by a pitch in Saturday's Cactus League contest, but luckily avoided and breaks in either his hand or his wrist. He should be able to return to the lineup in a couple of days once the swelling subsides.

L.J. Hoes will have X-rays taken of his right hand and wrist after being hit by a pitch Saturday.

Hoes was hit by Marlins reliever Aaron Crow in the eighth inning of Saturday's Grapefruit League game. The outfielder had his hand and wrist wrapped after the game, saying it "hurts pretty bad." More will be known after the tests, but it certainly doesn't look good for the outfielder trying to win a bench job with the Astros.

Chris Cotillo of reports that the Astros have made L.J. Hoes available as they search for bullpen help.

It's hard to imagine Hoes bringing the Astros a reliever of any substance. The 24-year-old has batted just .235/.288/.331 over parts of three big league seasons and is nothing more than an extra outfielder.

Hoes is batting just .175/.233/.292 over 52 games with the Astros this season. He'll be an extra outfield in September.
