His stay with the Astros as a reserve outfielder turned out to be very brief. He'll continue to provide organizational depth and should be back with the big league club the next time a need arises.

X-Rays came back negative on the hand and wrist of L.J. Hoes on Sunday.

Hoes was drilled by a pitch in Saturday's Cactus League contest, but luckily avoided and breaks in either his hand or his wrist. He should be able to return to the lineup in a couple of days once the swelling subsides.
Mar 29 - 4:32 PM

L.J. Hoes will have X-rays taken of his right hand and wrist after being hit by a pitch Saturday.

Hoes was hit by Marlins reliever Aaron Crow in the eighth inning of Saturday's Grapefruit League game. The outfielder had his hand and wrist wrapped after the game, saying it "hurts pretty bad." More will be known after the tests, but it certainly doesn't look good for the outfielder trying to win a bench job with the Astros.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that the Astros have made L.J. Hoes available as they search for bullpen help.

It's hard to imagine Hoes bringing the Astros a reliever of any substance. The 24-year-old has batted just .235/.288/.331 over parts of three big league seasons and is nothing more than an extra outfielder.

L.J. Hoes continued to struggle at the plate in Friday's loss to the White Sox, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.

The rough night drops his season slash to a disappointing .175/.239/.278. The Astros continue to struggle to get consistent production out of their outfielders, and Hoes could soon run out of chances if he continues to flounder.
