Randall Delgado will be given a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow on Thursday.

Delgado is working his way back from a strained flexor tendon. He's obviously done for the regular season, but the Diamondbacks haven't officially ruled him out for a potential return during the playoffs.
Sep 24 - 3:24 PM

Dr. James Andrews has confirmed that Randall Delgado is dealing with a flexor strain.

That's relatively good news, as there was some concern that Delgado might need Tommy John surgery. The 27-year-old right-hander is done for the season, but he's not expected to need surgery and should be close to 100 percent leading into spring training next February. Delgado is arbitration-eligible this winter after earning $1.775 million in 2017.
Sep 12 - 6:49 PM

Diamondbacks transferred RHP Randall Delgado from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Christian Walker. Delgado recently had a setback with his elbow injury and isn't expected back this season.
Sep 10 - 1:36 PM

Randall Delgado will undergo an MRI on his sore right elbow.

And the scan results will be examined by Dr. James Andrews, with Tommy John surgery looking like a possibility. Delgado has been out since mid-July because of a lingering right elbow injury. He can safely be ruled out for the remainder of the season, even if surgery is not required.
Sep 9 - 6:22 PM

Randall Delgado (elbow) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday.

He'll throw another one Tuesday and incorporate breaking balls that time. Delgado has been out since mid-July with an elbow injury but appears to nearly be game-ready.
Aug 26 - 6:22 PM

Randall Delgado (elbow) has progressed to throwing from 75 feet.

Delgado has missed the last three weeks of action with right elbow inflammation. It's unclear when he'll be ready for mound work and a rehab assignment, but he's coming along.
Aug 4 - 8:56 AM

Diamondbacks placed RHP Randall Delgado on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

It's not terribly surprising that Delgado's elbow is acting up given how he's been jerked around in different roles this season. How long he'll be sidelined isn't known at this point.
Jul 16 - 12:22 PM

Randall Delgado was bombed for four runs in just 2/3 of an inning and was charged with a loss to the Braves on Saturday.

He came on in relief of starter Patrick Corbin in the sixth inning. Delgado was victimized by three infield singles in the frame. A double by pinch-hitter Lane Adams cleared the bases and plated three of the runs. It was just one of those days for Delgado. He has been solid all year and will likely bounce back in his next outing. This game jolted his ERA up to 3.59 in 62 2/3 innings. He has a lovely 60/14 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Jul 15 - 11:58 PM

Randall Delgado fired off five scoreless innings while taking a no-decision in Sunday's 11-inning win over the Phillies.

Delgado scattered four hits while striking out four and walking one. He finished his afternoon having thrown 75 pitches (43 strikes). The 27-year-old right-hander has gotten the job done this season, pitching to a 3.18 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 22 appearances (five starts).
Jun 25 - 8:05 PM

Randall Delgado gave up four runs in five innings Friday in a no-decision versus the Brewers.

Zach Davies had the same outing for Milwaukee, yet he ended up with the win, since the Brewers scored twice in the top of the sixth. Delgado pitched well in his previous three starts, but this was the best lineup he's faced to date. He's a better bet against the Phillies next time out.
Jun 10 - 2:20 AM

Randall Delgado limited the Marlins to one run over 5 1/3 innings but took the loss Saturday.

It's hard to win a game in which your own team gets no-hit by the opposing pitcher, in this case the Marlins' Edinson Volquez. Delgado yielded six hits and a walk while striking out four in the losing cause. The 27-year-old has now held the opposition to one earned run in each of his first three starts for the Diamondbacks, but he has nothing to show for it aside from a 3.24 ERA and 1.13 WHIP accrued over 18 appearances overall. He'll continue seeking that win -- his first as a starter, his second on the year -- Friday against the Brewers.
Jun 3 - 9:24 PM

Randall Delgado tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball but took a no-decision in the Diamondbacks' loss to the Pirates on Monday.

Pittsburgh won the game on a walkoff homer by Andrew McCutchen in the bottom of the ninth inning. Archie Bradley served it up and took the loss. Delgado did his part, striking out eight batters and issuing zero walks while limiting the Bucs to five hits over 5 1/3 good frames. The right-hander should get another turn in the Arizona rotation, and it'll probably come over the weekend in Miami.
May 29 - 7:51 PM

Randall Delgado will make another start for the Diamondbacks on Monday against the Pirates.

The right-hander filled in against the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing just one earned run on three hits over four frames. He'll continue to occupy that spot in the rotation until Taijuan Walker is healthy enough to return.
May 26 - 7:16 PM

Randall Delgado allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over four innings in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.

Delgado had been working solely as a reliever prior to drawing the spot start against the White Sox in place of Taijuan Walker (blister). He pitched well enough in his stead, striking out three and walking one on the afternoon. Leury Garcia cracked a solo homer off him in the second inning and one more run came in on a double play in the fourth, but Delgado otherwise kept the White Sox at bay. He finished his outing having thrown 61 pitches (36 strikes). It remains to be seen whether he will be needed for another start before Walker returns to action.
