Matt Davidson (foot) has been ruled out for the season.
Austin Jackson (knee) is also done for the year. Davidson was called up from the minors in July and broke his right foot in his first game with the big club. He logged one hit in his two at-bats for the White Sox this season. He should be fine for spring training. Aug 25 - 8:48 PM

White Sox transferred 3B Matt Davidson from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Jacob Turner. Davidson is out indefinitely with a fractured right foot.
Jul 17 - 12:11 PM

White Sox placed 3B/DH Matt Davidson on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right foot.

Davidson fractured the foot in his first game up with the big club on Thursday. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined, but obviously it will be a while.
Jul 1 - 12:19 PM

Matt Davidson suffered a fractured right foot in Thursday's game against the Twins.

It's horrible news for Davidson, who was making his season debut for the ChiSox on Thursday. Davidson appeared to suffer the injury while rounding first base on a fourth-inning base hit. The White Sox haven't announced a timetable yet but he'll obviously face a lengthy absence.
Jun 30 - 5:50 PM

Matt Davidson left Thursday's game against the Twins with soreness in his right foot.

It was his first game up with the big league club, and Davidson was forced to check out in the sixth inning due to the injury. It doesn't sound serious, so expect him back in the lineup in a day or two.
Jun 30 - 4:23 PM

White Sox recalled 3B Matt Davidson from Triple-A Charlotte.

Davidson has had a nice year for Charlotte, batting .268/.349/.444 with 10 homers and 46 RBI over 326 plate appearances. The 25-year-old figures to see some playing time in the designated hitter spot while Melky Cabrera (wrist) is out, as Avisail Garcia is needed for outfield duty. Given Garcia's struggles, it's not out of the question that he could stick around a while if he hits. That's probably not likely, though, as Davidson hit around .200 at Triple-A from 2014-15.
Jun 30 - 10:39 AM

White Sox optioned INF Matt Davidson to Triple-A Charlotte; reassigned OF Jason Coats to minor league camp.

Davidson led the White Sox with five home runs this spring while batting .413/.438/.783 over 22 games. At the very least, it was nice to see after how much he has struggled over the past two seasons. He'll try to keep the momentum going in the minors.
Mar 29 - 1:47 PM

Matt Davidson's monster spring continued Monday, as he went 3-for-4 with a homer against the Rockies.

The longball was his fifth of Cactus League play, and he's hit .413 with a 1.221 OPS. Davidson once looked like the White Sox' third baseman of the future, but he's really struggled at Triple-A the last two seasons and Chicago traded for Todd Frazier over the winter.
Mar 28 - 7:33 PM

Matt Davidson slugged a walkoff two-run homer to lift the White Sox past the Dodgers 8-6 on Tuesday.

He also hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning, finishing the day 2-for-4 with four RBI. Davidson flashed a good amount of power last year at Triple-A Charlotte, but that came with a .203 batting average and .293 on-base percentage. The former supplemental first-round pick probably doesn't have a future as a major league regular.
Mar 15 - 7:24 PM

White Sox 3B prospect Matt Davidson drilled a pair of homers Sunday in a victory for Triple-A Charlotte.

The power surge continues for Davidson. The 24-year-old now has four blasts in his last nine games. That gives him a league-high 13 round-trippers. Davidson also ranks fifth in the International League with 41 RBI. Unfortunately, he has 93 strikeouts in only 254 at-bats. It's hard to see Davidson getting promoted until he improves that part of his game.

White Sox third base prospect Matt Davidson extended his hitting streak to five Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Charlotte.

Davidson mashed a solo home run, his second in as many games. He also drew a bases loaded walk. The 24-year-old has driven in at least one run in each of his last four appearances. Davidson is still hitting just .237 for the year including a dismal .219 in 96 May at-bats. He played 31 games for the White Sox in 2013 but hasn't been back to the big leagues since.

White Sox prospect Matt Davidson delivered six RBI Wednesday in a win for Triple-A Charlotte.

Davidson entered the day in a 2-for-19 rut, but went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a three-run homer. The 24-year-old couldn't crack the big leagues last season, though he did play 31 games for the Diamondbacks the year before. Through 69 at-bats, he's batting .261 with four homers and 13 RBI. That doesn't scream promotion but at least Davidson is contributing something.

White Sox optioned INF Matt Davidson to Triple-A Charlotte.

Davidson had a lot of hype this time last year, but he failed to make the Opening Day roster and went on to hit just .199/.283/.362 with 20 homers in Triple-A. He'll look to rebound in his return to Triple-A this year, but the recent stress reaction in the scapula of his left shoulder might not help his chances.

White Sox third base prospect Matt Davidson is nursing a stress reaction in the scapula of his left shoulder.

Davidson has been bothered by the soreness since the club's third Cactus League game, but he swung the bat Thursday and is hoping to return to action as soon as Friday. "It's just not fun to swing with that and especially the first couple of weeks of spring," Davidson said. "It's not something where you want to start the season and have it gradually grow. We shut it down for a little bit, rehabbed it and I should be good to go."

White Sox third base prospect Matt Davidson went 2-for-5 with two doubles for Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, raising his season line to .206/.282/.419.

Davidson has been hot as of late, batting .267/.344/.605 with five doubles and eight home runs over his last 24 games. His strikeout rate is troubling, but his power has been shining. Every month, his OPS has increased. If he keeps hitting, Davidson could see some time at the hot corner on the South Side before the end of 2014. This could be a great buy-low opportunity in deeper fantasy leagues.
