Manny Pina doubled in a run and hit a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth Friday as the Brewers edged the Rockies 11-10 in 10 innings.
Travis Shaw knocked in the go-ahead run in the 10th. Pina's homer off Wade Davis was his fourth, but he's struggled mightily in the average and OBP departments, hitting just .188 with six walks this season. The Brewers aren't getting Stephen Vogt back as a reinforcement anytime soon, so it's imperative that Pina show some more consistency on offense. May 12 - 1:57 AM

Brewers activated C Manny Pina from the 10-day disabled list.

Pina missed 11 days with a right calf strain. Jacob Nottingham has been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding 25-man roster move, with Jett Bandy sticking around with Milwaukee. Pina is starting at catcher and batting seventh Tuesday night against the Royals and right-hander Ian Kennedy.

Manny Pina (calf) ran the bases prior to Friday's game.

Pina could return as soon as Tuesday when he's first eligible. He's been out since mid-April with a right calf strain.
Apr 20 - 4:54 PM

Brewers placed C Manny Pina on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 13, with a right calf strain.

Pina hasn't played since last Tuesday and the Brewers didn't want to go short-handed any longer. Jacob Nottingham will take his place on the active roster while Jett Bandy will pick up most of the starts behind the plate.
Apr 16 - 1:46 PM

Manny Pina (calf) ran the bases during batting practice Saturday but will still be held out of action until after Sunday at least.

The team is exercising caution with the backstop, so despite his progress it's likely to be Jett Bandy in there for Sunday's series finale against the Mets. That said, Pina should be back early next week, assuming all goes well. He's been sidelined since Tuesday, when he tweaked his right calf.
Apr 14 - 6:27 PM

Manny Pina (calf) is hoping to be back in the Brewers' lineup Saturday.

Pina hasn't played since tweaking his right calf Tuesday, although he said he thinks he could play Friday had he needed to. He will do some running Saturday afternoon before the Brewers decide if he can play that night. Jett Bandy is doing the catching again Friday.
Apr 13 - 4:57 PM

Manny Pina left Tuesday's game with right calf tightness.

Pina went 1-for-1 with a single and a walk before leaving in the seventh inning. He can be considered day-to-day for now.
Apr 10 - 10:45 PM

Manny Pina homered twice and drove in four runs in an 11-6 Cactus League victory over the Brewers on Thursday.

Pina homered in the second inning off of Diamondbacks' starter Braden Shipley, and he homered again off of Silvino Bracho in the fifth. The 30-year-old backstop is off to a strong start in Arizona with the bat as he tries to win the starting catcher job, but he has much more value with the glove than the bat. That glove won't help you in fantasy baseball, so Pina isn't worth a roster spot even if he becomes the everyday catcher for Milwaukee in 2018.
Mar 8 - 6:27 PM

Manny Pina has been nursing a minor calf injury.

Pina only caught a couple innings Saturday because of the ailment. Brewers manager Craig Counsell said the injury is no big deal and that Pina would be playing through it if it were the regular season.

Manny Pina (thumb) played catch before the game on Wednesday against the Reds.

Pina hasn't played since spraining his thumb on a tag last Thursday. This comes after reports on Tuesday that he was still in "significant pain." It's possible that he's made progress, and it's possible that this was just a test to see how far behind he is. It'd be a surprise at this point if Pina played another regular season game in 2017.

Manny Pina (thumb) might not return this season.

Pina sprained his left thumb on a tag play last Thursday and is still experiencing significant pain. Stephen Vogt will handle the catching duties for the Brewers down the stretch.

Manny Pina is considered day-to-day with his left thumb sprain.

He sustained the injury during a tag play at the plate on Thursday. He should rejoin the lineup at some point next week.

Manny Pina sprained his left thumb on a tag play Thursday.

Pina didn't take batting practice Friday as a result. He likely wasn't going to be in the lineup, anyway, but it's possible it could affect his status in the coming days. Stephen Vogt is catching Friday.

Manny Pina (hip) is back in the Brewers' lineup Sunday.

Pina hasn't played since Tuesday because of a right hip flexor strain, but he got through a workout Saturday with no issues. He's catching and batting seventh against Edwin Jackson and the Nationals.
