Jacob Turner struggled in a no-decision against the Tigers on Friday, allowing four runs on five hits in just 3 1/3 innings.
The right-hander did manage to strike out six in the ballgame while issuing four free passes. Turner became the first big league pitcher since Jaime Garcia in 2011 to throw 100 or more pitches in an outing that lasted 3 1/3 innings or less. He has now been blasted in each of his two starts since replacing the injured Carlos Rodon in the White Sox rotation. It's unlikely that he'll have a chance to extend that streak to three. Jacob Turner was hammered for eight earned runs over four innings Sunday in a loss to the Angels.

Turner was making a spot start in place of Carlos Rodon, who landed on the disabled list before the All-Star break with a wrist sprain. Turner gave up seven hits, including two homers, and he also issued a pair of walks. The right-hander will probably head right back to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Jacob Turner from Triple-A Charlotte.

He'll start on Sunday against the Angels in place of Carlos Rodon (wrist). Sunday will be Turner's first appearance in the big leagues since 2014. The former first-round pick has had an up-and-down year for Charlotte, recording a 4.71 ERA over 18 starts. The White Sox will make a corresponding roster move after tonight's game.
Jul 16 - 8:54 PM

White Sox sent RHP Jacob Turner outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Turner allowed 14 runs on 20 hits and eight walks over 12 innings during Cactus League action. He was in the mix for a roster spot this spring, but that wasn't good enough to get it done.
Mar 30 - 2:01 PM

Jacob Turner was torched for four runs on six hits and a walk over three frames versus the Royals on Monday.

Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain both took Turner deep in the forgettable outing. The former top prospect has now been knocked around for nine runs across 5 2/3 innings over his last two spring outings. Turner is out of options and isn't making the rotation, so he's likely headed for a long relief role.
Mar 14 - 7:17 PM

Jacob Turner fired two scoreless frames Friday against the Indians.

Turner allowed one hit and a walk while striking out two batters. According to Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com, the former top prospect hit 94 mph on the radar gun. There's probably not room for him in Chicago's rotation, but he could be better off in the bullpen anyway.
Mar 4 - 6:49 PM

White Sox signed RHP Jacob Turner to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Turner got non-tendered by the White Sox on Wednesday night, but the club worked quickly to get him back in the fold. The 24-year-old former top prospect was limited in 2015 by right elbow troubles, but he should carry a clean bill of health into the 2016 season. It's a nice bit of low-risk, potentially-high-reward rotation depth for Chicago.

White Sox non-tendered RHP Jacob Turner.

The White Sox scooped Turner off waivers from the Cubs in late October. He spent 2015 working his way back from right elbow surgery, but managed just nine rehab appearances before being shut down once more due to lingering soreness. Turner, 24, has never thrown more than 118 innings in a season.

White Sox claimed RHP Jacob Turner off waivers from the Cubs.

Turner was limited to just nine rehab innings in 2015 as he worked his way back from right elbow surgery and was shut down in June after experiencing renewed soreness in the elbow. It's unclear what his health status is now, but the White Sox are obviously willing to take a shot on the former top prospect.

Jacob Turner has been shut down due to soreness in his right elbow.

Turner was on a rehab assignment from a mild flexor strain in the elbow but a flare-up caused him to halt his progress. The Cubs have no timetable for his return to the mound and, obviously, for his eventual return to Wrigley.

Jacob Turner (elbow) allowed two runs over four innings in his first rehab start with Double-A Tennessee.

Turner struck out four and walked just one but served up a two-run homer. The right-hander is making his way back from a flexor strain and bone bruise in his elbow and figures to need most, if not all, of his 30 rehab days.

Cubs transferred RHP Jacob Turner from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Gonzalez Germen. Turner is expected to miss the first couple months of the season with a mild right flexor strain and bone bruise in his right elbow.

Cubs placed RHP Jacob Turner on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

Turner was diagnosed on March 10 with a mild right flexor strain and bone bruise in his right elbow. He's not expected to resume throwing until mid-April or so.

Jacob Turner (elbow) will be shut down for the next month.

A second opinion has confirmed that Turner is dealing with a bone bruise and mild flexor strain in his right elbow. "It’s something that, right now, is not smart to throw through, basically," Turner said. "If I try to throw through it, it’s something that could be worse." Turner will obviously begin the season on the disabled list and will be sent out on a rehab assignment at some point before becoming an option for the Cubs.

Jacob Turner was diagnosed with a mild right flexor strain and bone bruise in his right elbow.

Turner will get a second opinion, but he appears bound to begin the season the disabled list. Travis Wood currently has the inside track for the fifth starter job.
