Marlins released RHP Jacob Turner.

Turner made the Marlins' Opening Day roster out of camp this spring, but he was designated for assignment and subsequently outrighted off the 40-man roster after allowing 10 earned runs over 5 2/3 innings of relief. The 27-year-old right-hander then posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.79 WHIP in 20 2/3 innings at Triple-A New Orleans. He'll look to latch on with a new organization.

Marlins outrighted RHP Jacob Turner to Triple-A New Orleans.

Turner was designated for assignment on Sunday, and he cleared waivers and now will likely have a spot in the New Orleans' starting rotation.

Marlins designated RHP Jacob Turner for assignment.

It's what happens when you give up eight runs in a one-inning relief outing. Tyler Cloyd will replace Turner in the Marlins' bullpen.
Apr 8 - 10:42 AM

Jacob Turner surrendered eight runs on six hits over an inning of relief work during Saturday's blowout loss to the Phillies.

Dillon Peters allowed nine runs before being mercifully relieved of duty with two outs in the third inning. Turner then came on for perhaps an even more disastrous showing, as he surrendered just one run less in 1 2/3 fewer innings. Not that it really matters. Both pitchers were horrible in this one. Turner has now coughed up runs in each of his last three appearances, though Saturday's was by far his worst showing to date. He had at least held the opposition to solitary runs in his previous two trips to the mound. No fantasy intrigue, here, as if that even needs to be said.
Apr 7 - 9:38 PM

Jacob Turner was informed Sunday that he has made the Marlins' Opening Day roster.

The right-hander will work out of the bullpen. He'll function primarily in middle or long relief, therefore will have minimal fantasy value.
Mar 25 - 4:11 PM

Jacob Turner was scratched from his scheduled Grapefruit League start Thursday due to flu-like symptoms.

Not the most ideal of timing, but Turner should be able to get back on a mound this weekend and is in no danger of missing any regular-season action. It looks like he may open as the Marlins' No. 4 starter. The 26-year-old former first-round pick had a 5.65 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and 41/31 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings over the last two seasons for the White Sox and Nationals.
Mar 22 - 8:35 AM

Jacob Turner allowed two runs -- one earned -- over four innings in a Grapefruit League start Sunday versus the Yankees.

Turner looked sharp over the first three innings, but the wheels fell off for him in the top of the fourth. The 26-year-old former first-round pick will likely be ticketed for Triple-A New Orleans when camp breaks, unless the Marlins want to use him as a long reliever. Turner signed a non-guaranteed minor league contract with Miami in December after posting a 5.08 ERA over two starts and 16 relief appearances with the Nationals in 2017.
Mar 11 - 2:50 PM

Jacob Turner allowed one run on four hits in a two-inning start versus the Nationals on Saturday.

He walked the first batter he faced, who then came around to score on a single by top outfield prospect Victor Robles. All four hits allowed by Turner were singles. He registered one strikeout and one walk. He spent last season with the Nationals, compiling a 5.08 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 39 innings. He is competing for a rotation slot but could wind up in the bullpen.
Feb 24 - 4:08 PM

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Marlins have agreed to a deal with free agent right-hander Jacob Turner.

No word yet on the framework of the contract. It could be of the minor league variety. Turner put up a 5.08 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 39 innings (two starts, 16 relief appearances) this past season with the Nationals after posting a 6.57 ERA and 1.99 WHIP over 24 2/3 innings with the White Sox in 2016. The former first-round pick of the Tigers pitched for the Marlins for parts of the 2012, 2013, and 2014 seasons. His career ERA in the majors is 5.09.

Jacob Turner has elected to become a free agent.

Turner was outrighted off the Nationals' 40-man roster in July and never climbed his way back. The 26-year-old former top prospect owns a 5.09 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 362 1/3 career major league innings.

Nationals sent RHP Jacob Turner outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Turner was designated for assignment on Tuesday but decided to stay with the Nationals organization after passing through waivers unclaimed, though he's no longer on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 5.08 ERA in 18 appearances (two starts) this season with Washington.

Nationals designated RHP Jacob Turner for assignment.

The Nats needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Edwin Jackson, who will start Tuesday. Turner holds a 5.08 ERA over 18 appearances -- two starts -- with the big club this season.

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Jacob Turner from Triple-A Syracuse.

Turner, 26, has posted a 5.08 ERA and 23/15 K/BB ratio over 39 innings at the major league level this season. Edwin Jackson is expected to start Tuesday, so Turner will likely pitch in long relief.

Turner cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. He had the option to elect free agency, but he has chosen to stick around. The right-hander has mostly pitched in long relief this season while posting a 5.08 ERA and 23/15 K/BB ratio over 39 innings.
