Nationals designated RHP Jacob Turner for assignment.

The Nats needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Edwin Jackson, who will start Tuesday. Turner holds a 5.08 ERA over 18 appearances -- two starts -- with the big club this season.
Jul 18 - 2:24 PM

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Jacob Turner from Triple-A Syracuse.

Turner, 26, has posted a 5.08 ERA and 23/15 K/BB ratio over 39 innings at the major league level this season. Edwin Jackson is expected to start Tuesday, so Turner will likely pitch in long relief.

Nationals sent RHP Jacob Turner outright to Triple-A Syracuse.

Turner cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. He had the option to elect free agency, but he has chosen to stick around. The right-hander has mostly pitched in long relief this season while posting a 5.08 ERA and 23/15 K/BB ratio over 39 innings.

Nationals designated RHP Jacob Turner for assignment.

The Nats had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for Sammy Solis and Turner ended up being the odd man out. The right-hander has pitched to a 5.08 ERA this year while mostly working as a long reliever. Manager Dusty Baker is hoping Turner clears waivers so the team can keep him in the organization as minor league depth.
Jul 1 - 4:06 PM

Jacob Turner surrendered three runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings of work during a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.

He was spotless through five innings but was tagged by Josh Bell for a three-run blast in the sixth. That one mistake spoiled an otherwise solid start and cost him a loss. He issued four walks against just one strikeout. This was Turner's second start of the season following six appearances as a reliever. He owns a 3.74 ERA with 14 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 2/3 innings.
May 17 - 10:12 PM

Jacob Turner will start for the Nationals on Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Nats manager Dusty Baker made that announcement after Tuesday's victory. Turner, 25, owns a 3.31 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 13/4 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings (one start, six relief appearances) this season for Washington.
May 16 - 10:50 PM

Jacob Turner will fill Joe Ross's spot in the Nationals' rotation.

This comes after Ross was surprisingly optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Turner already made one spot start for the Nationals last week against the Rockies, allowing three runs over six innings. Still, we're not expecting him to be fantasy-relevant. Ross obviously has immense upside and could be deemed ready to return at any time.
May 2 - 10:03 AM

Jacob Turner will be kept around to serve as a long man out of the Nationals' bullpen.

There was some thought that he might be designated for assignment after his spot start Monday, but the Nationals decided to option Matt Grace instead. Turner pitched pretty well in that outing on Monday, holding the Rockies to three runs over six innings at power-friendly Coors Field.
Apr 27 - 1:44 PM

Jacob Turner pitched well in his spot start Monday, allowing three runs over six innings against the Rockies in Coors Field.

Turner left with a 4-3 lead, but it didn't survive the seventh. He'll likely be sent down for a fresh arm now, though the Nationals would risk losing him on waivers.
Apr 25 - 12:54 AM

Nationals purchased the contract of RHP Jacob Turner from Triple-A Syracuse.

Turner will make a spot start on Monday in Colorado with Stephen Strasburg going on paternity leave. Needless to say, it's a situation to avoid for fantasy owners.
Apr 24 - 5:09 PM

Nationals manager Dusty Baker confirmed Sunday that Jacob Turner will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start on Monday against the Rockies in Colorado.

The Nationals were forced to shuffle their rotation with Stephen Strasburg going on paternity leave and Baker didn't want one of the club's prospects to be forced into making their MLB debut against the Rockies at Coors Field. Turner owns a career 5.09 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 323 1/3 big league innings and will be a popular target to attack in daily fantasy on Monday.
Apr 23 - 11:27 PM

Jacob Turner suffered a loss against the Marlins in Grapefruit League play on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits over his 4 1/3 frames.

The right-hander walked one and struck out three on the night. The former top prospect owns a 5.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 14 innings for the Nationals this spring. He'll open the year as rotation depth at Triple-A Syracuse.
Mar 25 - 12:01 AM

Nationals signed RHP Jacob Turner to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Turner latched on with the White Sox last winter on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, but he posted a 6.57 ERA in 18 appearances (including two starts) in the majors. The former top prospect is probably going to serve as minor league depth in 2017.

White Sox sent RHP Jacob Turner outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Turner was with the White Sox during the second half, but struggled in a pair of starts and posted a 6.57 ERA in 18 appearances overall. He's still only 25 years old, but the former top prospect didn't show enough to keep a 40-man roster spot going into the offseason.
