Royals optioned OF Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha.
The move clears the way for Jarrod Dyson's return from the disabled list. Fuentes earned a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong spring, but he was batting just .238/.273/.238 over six games. The Royals ultimately elected to keep speedster Terrance Gore over him. Apr 19 - 3:11 PM

Date:

Reymond Fuentes is starting in right field and batting ninth for the Royals in Friday's game against the Twins.

He's starting each of the Royals' three games so far with the opposition throwing three righties. It appears manager Ned Yost will be going with a strict platoon with Fuentes and Paulo Orlando until Jarrod Dyson (oblique) is ready.
Apr 8 - 3:18 PM

Reymond Fuentes will start in right field and bat ninth against the Mets on Tuesday.

It's the same lineup that Ned Yost used on Sunday night. Fuentes earned a spot on the Opening Day roster with a strong spring and appears in line to start in right field against right-handed starters until Jarrod Dyson (oblique) is ready to come off the disabled list. He's worth a short-term look in AL-only formats. The full lineup for KC: Alcides Escobar SS, Mike Moustakas 3B, Lorenzo Cain CF, Eric Hosmer 1B, Kendrys Morales DH, Alex Gordon LF, Salvador Perez C, Omar Infante 2B, Fuentes RF. Chris Young will make the start for the Royals while Noah Syndergaard gets the ball for the Mets.

Reymond Fuentes will start in right field and bat ninth against the Mets on Sunday.

Fuentes not only cracked the Opening Day roster, but he's getting the start over Paulo Orlando. It appears he could play against most right-handers until Jarrod Dyson (oblique) returns.
Apr 3 - 2:44 PM

Reymond Fuentes is expected to make the Royals' Opening Day roster.

It's not a surprise, as manager Ned Yost even indicated a week ago that Fuentes could see ample time in right field while Jarrod Dyson (oblique) is sidelined. Fuentes might only stick around for a few weeks until Dyson returns but is worth owning in AL-only leagues until then.
Apr 1 - 1:05 PM

Royals manager Ned Yost said Friday that he'll "go with the hot hand" in right field" until Jarrod Dyson (oblique) returns.

The assumption had been that Paulo Orlando would be the club's regular right fielder while Dyson was out, but it sounds like Reymond Fuentes will also be in the mix. Fuentes hasn't played in the majors since 2013, but he hit .308/.360/.422 at Triple-A last season and has crushed the ball this spring with a .444/.524/.778 line, three homers and 10 RBI. Both players are worth considering in deeper AL-only formats.
Mar 25 - 11:59 AM

Reymond Fuentes connected for a solo homer Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Fuentes, the cousin of former Royal Carlos Beltran, is now 5-for-11 (.462) with a homer, a double, two walks, and a stolen base this spring. The 25-year-old is starting to make a real case for a reserve outfielder job.

Royals optioned OF Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha.

Fuentes was only in the majors for two games. The 24-year-old is no more than organizational outfield depth.

Royals optioned OF Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha.

The 24-year-old outfielder could have pushed for a reserve outfielder job with a strong showing in Cactus League play, but he hit just .238/.273/.381 in 21 at-bats. He should receive an opportunity from the Royals during the upcoming season.

A former first-round pick, Fuentes batted .294/.363/.416 with five homers and 25 steals between Double- and Triple-A this season. The Royals have added him to their 40-man roster.

Padres optioned OF Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Tucson.

The 23-year-old outfielder had a chance to crack the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder with a strong spring, but hit just .095 (2-for-21) with five strikeouts. He should get a chance with the Padres at some point during the season.

Padres purchased the contract of OF Reymond Fuentes from Triple-A Tucson.

Acquired from the Red Sox back in the winter of 2010 as part of the Adrian Gonzalez deal, Fuentes has had a breakout year this season, batting .330/.413/.448 with six homers and 35 steals between Double- and Triple-A. With Cameron Maybin no lock to return this season, the Padres' center field job could be Fuentes' through the end of next month. He's worth a look in deeper leagues if you need speed.

Padres acquired OF Reymond Fuentes, 1B Anthony Rizzo, RHP Casey Kelly and a PTBNL from the Red Sox for 1B Adrian Gonzalez.

Fuentes is the youngest of the three prospects that the Red Sox acquired in the deal. He's also the fastest. The 19-year-old Puerto Rico native was selected in the first round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft and swiped 42 bases in 47 chances this past season at Single-A Greenville. He's far from a polished hitter, but he has good defensive range and should continue improving.
Mon, Dec 6, 2010 11:33:00 AM

Reymond Fuentes went 3-for-4 with a homer and four runs scored for low Single-A Greenville on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Fuentes is hitting .279/.359/.441 as one of the youngest players in the Sally League. He’s also 7-for-7 stealing bases. The Red Sox have to be pretty excited about his early progress. There aren’t any questions about his glove in center, so if he’s close to an average hitter, he’ll have a long career as a regular.
