National recall OF Brian Goodwin from Triple-A Syracuse.

He'll provide the Nationals with depth on the bench while Ryan Zimmerman is sidelined with a wrist injury. He's unlikely to see enough playing time to have any fantasy value this time around. Goodwin was hitting .284/.350/.434 with 11 homers, 62 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 109 games at Triple-A Syracuse.

Nationals optioned OF Brian Goodwin to Triple-A Syracuse.

Goodwin didn't get much action this spring in Nationals camp after undergoing surgery on his non-throwing shoulder late last season. The 24-year-old former prospect will be looking to rebound at Triple-A in 2015 after batting just .219/.342/.328 in 81 games at the level last summer.

Nationals outfield prospect Brian Goodwin will be monitored in camp after having surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder late last season.

It doesn't sound like anything that might put his availability for Opening Day in question. Goodwin, 24, is set to return to Triple-A to start the season after struggling in his first go-round at the level in 2014 with a .219/.342/.328 batting line.

Nationals purchased the contract of OF Brian Goodwin from Triple-A Syracuse.

Goodwin is now protected from the Rule-5 Draft. Baseball Prospectus ranked him as the No. 86 prospect prior to 2014. He hit .218/.342/.328 in Triple-A last season.

Brian Goodwin will open the 2014 season at Triple-A Syracuse.

The 23-year-old outfielder spent the entire 2013 season at Double-A Harrisburg, batting .252/.355/.407 with 19 doubles, 10 triples, 10 home runs, 19 stolen bases and 121-61 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 122 games. The Nationals have no need to rush Goodwin this season given their current big-league outfield configuration, but he could potentially join the team at some point this season in the event of an injury.

Brian Goodwin homered and doubled off the bench Wednesday versus the Mets.

The 23-year-old Goodwin has been viewed as the Nationals' top position prospect since Anthony Rendon graduated. He and Michael Taylor are both candidates to eventually take over for Denard Span in center. Last year, Goodwin hit .252/.355/.406 with 19 steals for Double-A Harrisburg.

Nationals' prospect outfielder Brian Goodwin (quad) will return to action with Class A Hagerstown on Saturday.

Goodwin hasn't played since April 9 due to a quad injury. The 21-year-old was a supplemental first-round pick of the Nationals last year and was ranked as the organization's No. 5 prospect over the winter.

Nationals' prospect outfielder Brian Goodwin left Monday's game with Class A Hagerstown with an apparent leg injury.

Goodwin, a supplemental first-round pick last year, pulled up lame while legging out an infield single. Stay tuned for an update on his status.

Nationals agreed to terms with supplemental first-round pick OF Brian Goodwin.

Jon Heyman of reports that his bonus is "believed to be" worth $3 million, which is obviously well above slot for the 34th pick. Goodwin, 20, spent this past season at Miami-Dade CC after leaving North Carolina due to academic ineligibility, but has plus-speed to go along with patience and developing power. Between Goodwin, Anthony Rendon, Alex Meyer and Matt Purke, the Nationals have spent approximately $16 million to sign their top four picks.
