Braves acquired RHP Zach Stewart from the White Sox for cash considerations.
Stewart compiled a 4.28 ERA and 122/37 K/BB ratio over 167 1/3 innings last season with Chicago's Triple-A affiliate. The 27-year-old has a 6.82 ERA in 14 starts and 19 relief appearances in the majors. With the Braves' rotation suddenly looking questionable, the 27-year-old will provide some depth. White Sox sent RHP Zach Stewart outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Stewart was just claimed off waivers from the Pirates last week, but the move clears him from the 40-man roster. He'll be invited to spring training. The 26-year-old right-hander has a 6.82 ERA over his first 103 innings in the big leagues and is likely to begin 2013 in the minors.

White Sox claimed RHP Zach Stewart off waivers from the Pirates.

Stewart was DFA'd by the Bucs last week and is now back with team he pitched for during the first few months of 2012. He has a disappointing 6.82 ERA over 103 career major league innings and won't be guaranteed a big league roster spot for the start of the 2013 season.

Pirates designated RHP Zach Stewart for assignment.

Stewart, who was acquired from the Red Sox in the offseason, has an underwhelming 6.82 ERA over his first 103 innings in the majors, but could draw some interest on waivers. The Pirates officially re-signed Jeff Karstens to a one-year deal in a corresponding move.

Pirates acquired RHP Zach Stewart from the Red Sox for a player to be named later.

Stewart was just designated for assignment by the Red Sox last week. The 26-year-old right-hander was once considered a pretty solid prospect, but he has an ugly 6.82 ERA over his first 103 innings in the big leagues. We're not expecting much, but he should compete for a roster spot during spring training.

Red Sox designated RHP Zach Stewart for assignment.

Stewart was once a pretty decent prospect, but he's failed miserably in his chances at the big league level, posting a 6.82 ERA over 103 frames. He's still just 26, though, so someone will take a shot on him.

Zach Stewart allowed five earned runs in 2 2/3 innings Sunday in Boston's loss to the Orioles.

Stewart was overmatched, yielding seven hits -- including two home runs -- while tallying just one strikeout. He'll finish 2012 with a brutal 8.58 ERA and 1.74 WHIP.

Zach Stewart will start next Sunday against Baltimore.

Stewart was recently promoted, and will be making a spot start Tuesday for Daisuke Matsuzaka. It was originally reported that Matsuzaka would pitch again before the end of the season, but this would indicate that the Red Sox are planning on shutting him down.

Red Sox recalled RHP Zach Stewart from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Stewart has only appeared in one game with the Red Sox, and was destroyed to the tune of nine runs on 10 hits over three innings of work. He'll provide nothing more than bullpen depth as a long reliever.

Red Sox optioned RHP Zach Stewart to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Stewart was annihilated in his Red Sox debut on Wednesday night against the Angels, allowing nine runs on 10 hits over just three innings. The Red Sox would have no real reason to give him another shot this year.

Zach Stewart got destroyed in his Red Sox debut Wednesday, allowing nine runs on 10 hits in just three innings of Boston's loss to the Angels.

That's going to leave a mark. It wasn't entirely unexpected, however, seeing as Stewart was the owner of a 5.92 ERA through 97 1/3 career innings coming into this evening. It's doubtful another start is in the works for the 25-year-old righty.

Red Sox recalled RHP Zach Stewart from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Stewart will make a spot start Wednesday night against the Angels. He'll likely be sent back down afterward.

The Red Sox will recall right-hander Zach Stewart from Triple-A Pawtucket to start Wednesday against the Angels.

Stewart was acquired from the White Sox in June as part of the Kevin Youkilis deal. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.94 ERA and 42/12 K/BB ratio in 59 1/3 innings over 11 starts with the PawSox. He has stumbled in his previous stints in the majors, so we're not particularly optimistic, but could have some value in AL-only leagues down the stretch.

White Sox traded RHP Zach Stewart and UTIL Brent Lillibridge to the Red Sox for 3B Kevin Youkilis and cash.

Stewart, acquired by Chicago in the Edwin Jackson trade last season, registered an ugly 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 30 innings this season prior to being demoted to the minors last week. His 5.92 ERA over 97-plus career innings in the bigs isn't promising, but he has been far better in the minors. The 25-year-old right-hander, a former third-round pick, will provide much-needed rotation depth for the Red Sox. His long-term future is probably in the bullpen.

White Sox optioned RHP Zach Stewart to Triple-A Charlotte.

Stewart has registered an ugly 6.00 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 30 innings this season for big-league Chicago. The 25-year-old right-hander will try to work on his craft against a lesser level of competition at the Triple-A level.
