Giants signed RHP Ryan Sadowski to a minor league contract.

Sadowski, now 30, originally drafted by the Giants in 2003 and made his major league debut with the club in 2009. He has been out of professional baseball since pitching in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2010. Look for him to serve as organizational depth.

Astros released RHP Ryan Sadowski.

Sodowski, 27, signed a minor league contract with the Astros last month, but has decided to pitch in Japan next season. He posted a 4.45 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in six starts with the Giants in 2009.

RHP Ryan Sadowski has decided to play the 2010 season in Japan.

Sadowski, who recently turned 27, burst onto the scene in 2009 with 13 consecutive scoreless innings to start his major league career. The luster quickly faded, though, and he was designated for assignment in September after his ERA rose to 4.45 and his WHIP skyrocketed to 1.59.

Giants outrighted RHP Ryan Sadowski to Triple-A Fresno.

Sadowski was designated for assignment on September 2. The 26-year-old right-hander made quite a splash, tossing 13 shutout innings to start his career, but he eventually faded, putting up a 4.45 ERA over six starts.

Giants designated RHP Ryan Sadowski for assignment.

Sadowski was 2-4 with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP while in the Giants' rotation earlier this season. He was shipped to Triple-A Fresno a month ago and jettisoned from the 40-man roster completely Wednesday to make room for heralded prospect Buster Posey.

Giants optioned RHP Ryan Sadowski to Triple-A Fresno.

Sadowski was 2-4 with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP during his extended stay in the Giants' rotation. He may be recalled when the Giants need another starter, a few weeks from now.

Ryan Sadowski was knocked around for eight runs over 3 2/3 innings in an 8-1 loss to the Braves on Tuesday night.

His luck finally ran out. After allowing just two earned runs over his first three major league starts, Sadowski gave up eight on Tuesday. The three-run homer by Brian McCann was the first he had given up in 21 innings. With a mediocre line in the minors, Sadowski didn't project well in the majors to begin with. He should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Giants recalled RHP Ryan Sadowski from Triple-A Fresno.

As expected, Sadowski will make the start on Tuesday against the Braves. He was awesome in three starts leading up to the All-Star break, allowing just two earned runs in 18 innings pitched. Even though he deserves to be back, he's still an iffy start, even in NL-only leagues.

Giants optioned RHP Ryan Sadowski to Class-A San Jose.

So this is what happens when he finally gives up a run? Sadowski threw six shutout innings in his debut and seven scoreless innings in his second start, but allowed three runs -- two earned -- against the Marlins on Wednesday. In actuality, the Giants did not need a fifth starter again until July 20, so they took this opportunity to add an extra bat prior to the All-Star break at Sadowski's expense.

Ryan Sadowski hurled seven shutout innings in a 13-0 win over the Astros on Friday night.

That makes 13 shutout innings to start his major league career. Not bad. Sadowski held the Astros hitless until a Lance Berkman single in the fourth inning -- he gave up just three hits in all. Sadowski struck out four and walked just one, improving to 2-0. His minor league numbers don't indicate long-term success, so owners should temper expectations, even with the hot start.

Ryan Sadowski has been granted a spot in the starting rotation.

Sadowski was called on for a spot start this weekend and tossed six shutout innings against the Brewers. "That's where we're at right now," manager Bruce Bochy said. "He did a great job. Right now, the plan is to give him another start. I don't want to leave it as a start at a time. Right now, he's in the rotation." Sadowski didn't have overwhelming success at Triple-A, so we're expecting a fall toward earth very soon. Most fantasy owners should steer clear.

Ryan Sadowski earned a win in his major league debut by throwing six shutout innings against the Brewers.

Sadowski walked three, struck out two, and gave up four hits. That 12 of his 16 in-play outs came on the ground was impressive, but his minor league track record doesn't inspire much confidence going forward. Still, it's nice to see the 26-year-old get a shot and make the most of it.

Giants purchased the contract of RHP Ryan Sadowski from Triple-A Fresno.

Sadowski will get the nod Sunday against the Padres in what will be his major league debut. The 26-year-old was 5-2 this season at Triple-A Fresno, with a 4.11 ERA and 59/32 K/BB ratio in 13 starts (72 1/3 innings). Most NL-only leaguers should steer clear.

Ryan Sadowski will be called on to start Sunday against the Padres.

It will be Sadowski's major league debut. The 26-year-old is 5-2 this season at Triple-A Fresno, with a 4.11 ERA and 59/32 K/BB ratio in 13 starts (72 1/3 innings). We'd probably take a pass in most leagues, even with him facing the Padres.
