Kyle Seager had only one hit over five at-bats in Tuesday's victory over the Padres, a three-run home run.

Seager took Ian Kennedy out to right field in the first inning to push the Mariners' lead to 4-0. The third baseman hadn't been doing much at the plate, but has started to heat up over his last five games, notching three doubles and two home runs over 21 at-bats. Seager is batting .244/.295/.412 overall with four home runs and 19 RBI.

Kyle Seager went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in Wednesday's 4-3 setback across from the Angels.

Seager very nearly won this game single-handedly for Seattle. His two-run shot off C.J. Wilson was all the Mariners could muster off the left-hander tonight and, down 3-2 in the ninth, Seager led off with a double against Huston Street. He eventually scored on a sac fly to tie the game at threes. Unfortunately, he was ultimately cast as Sisyphus when Seattle's bullpen frittered the game away shortly thereafter.
May 7 - 1:25 AM

Kyle Seager had an RBI single in his return to the lineup on Thursday.

Seager was limited to pinch-hitting duties on Wednesday due to a sore thumb, but he wound up being absent from the lineup for just one day. The third baseman sports a .266/.322/.405 batting line with two homers and 12 RBI this season.
May 1 - 8:44 AM

Kyle Seager (thumb) served as a pinch hitter in the Mariners' win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

He was retired on a ninth-inning flyout. Seager is considered day-to-day with a jammed left thumb. Willie Bloomquist started Wednesday's game at third base.
Apr 30 - 8:40 AM

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said Wednesday that Kyle Seager has a "banged up thumb."

Seager will be held out of the Mariners' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Rangers, but he should be available off the bench and will likely be back in action Thursday night in Houston. It's not a serious injury. Willie Bloomquist gets the start at third base on Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.
Apr 29 - 4:47 PM

Kyle Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as the Mariners dropped Monday's game against the Dodgers in 10 innings.

Seager went back-to-back with Nelson Cruz in the fourth inning against Brandon McCarthy, pushing the Mariners' lead to 4-0 at the time. Seager, now with two home runs, hasn't hit much to start the season, as he carries a .185 average after Monday's performance, but he's hit safely in five consecutive games.
Apr 14 - 1:30 AM

Kyle Seager slugged a two-run home run in Wednesday night's loss to the Angels.

Seager hit his shot off of winning pitcher Matt Shoemaker in the sixth inning. The third baseman finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBI. Coming into his age-27 season, Seager (and the Mariners in general) have high expectations. Last season, he hit .268/.334/.454 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI. His batting average, slugging percentage, and home run totals have risen every year he's been in the majors.
Apr 9 - 1:25 AM

Kyle Seager went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in a slugfest with the Giants on Saturday.

Seager homered off of Jake Peavy in the fourth inning, tying the game at four apiece at the time. The third baseman, who signed a $100 million extension over the winter, is hitting .300 (12-for-40) with three home runs and 10 RBI this spring. Seager had the best season of his young career last year, belting 25 home runs and driving in 96 runs.
Mar 28 - 7:34 PM

Kyle Seager went 1-for-2 with a walk and a three-run home run as the Mariners bested the Rangers in Sunday's Cactus League match-up.

Seager put the Mariners up 3-0 early with a three-run homer off of Yovani Gallardo, one of the two three-run blasts the right-hander allowed. Seager is one of many Mariners hitting the ball well early, as he's sitting on two home runs with eight RBI and a .407 average (11-for-27). The 27-year-old signed a seven-year, $100 million extension with the Mariners over the winter and will be expected to post big numbers at third base this season.
Mar 22 - 7:08 PM

Kyle Seager (oblique) returned to the Mariners' lineup Sunday.

Seager was scratched from Saturday's Cactus League contest due to mild tightness in his side, but that was obviously just precautionary. The side shouldn't be an issue for Seager going forward.
Mar 22 - 1:11 PM

Kyle Seager was scratched from Saturday's Cactus League game due to mild tightness in his side.

Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said the move was largely precautionary and not a big issue. The Mariners are smart to be cautious with their $100 million man. Seager is expected to hit in the middle of the Mariners' lineup this season after mashing 25 homers and 96 RBI last year.
Mar 21 - 7:49 PM

Kyle Seager hit a solo home run in Wednesday's Cactus League loss to the Rockies.

The homer was Seager's first of the spring and his only hit in three at-bats. The third baseman had a career year in 2014, hitting .268/.334/.454 with 25 homers and 96 RBI. He should continue to put up strong production this year after signing a mega extension this winter.
Mar 11 - 7:07 PM

Mariners avoided arbitration with 3B Kyle Seager by agreeing to a seven-year, $100 million contract with a club option for 2022.

The option is reportedly for $20 million. Seager had been arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter, as the M's have bought out at least four years of free agency. The 27-year-old batted .268/.334/.454 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI in 159 games this past season while also earning his first Gold Glove award.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Mariners are on the verge of a seven-year, $100 million contract extension with third baseman Kyle Seager.

Seager only needs to pass a physical. He took another big step forward in 2014 at age 26, batting .268/.334/.454 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI in 159 games while also earning his first Gold Glove Award for his solid defense at the hot corner. The 27-year-old was going to be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. Now he'll be under contractual control with Seattle through at least 2021. Passan is hearing that deal will also carry a $20 million club option for 2022.
