Mariners avoided arbitration with 3B Kyle Seager by agreeing to a seven-year, $100 million contract with a club option for 2022.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Mariners are on the verge of a seven-year, $100 million contract extension with third baseman Kyle Seager.

Seager only needs to pass a physical. He took another big step forward in 2014 at age 26, batting .268/.334/.454 with 25 home runs and 96 RBI in 159 games while also earning his first Gold Glove Award for his solid defense at the hot corner. The 27-year-old was going to be arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. Now he'll be under contractual control with Seattle through at least 2021. Passan is hearing that deal will also carry a $20 million club option for 2022.

Kyle Seager has been named the 2014 American League Gold Glove winner at third base.

It's debatable as to whether he's most deserving, but Seager, a first-time winner, is undoubtedly a terrific defensive third baseman. He beat out Adrian Beltre and Josh Donaldson for the award.

Kyle Seager finished 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's win over the Astros.

Seager's three-run blast off Jake Buchanan capped a seven-run rally for the Mariners in the fourth inning. After going hitless in five straight games, the 26-year-old has three multi-hit games in his last six. Seager has been a consistent source of production for fantasy owners this season, batting .273/.341/.466 with 24 home runs and 92 RBI -- both career-highs -- over 150 games. There's a case to be made that he has been the Mariners' most valuable position player this season, not Robinson Cano.

Kyle Seager went 3-for-5 and hit a two-run homer Saturday as the Mariners beat the Rangers 4-2.

Seager had a chance to put the game away in the top of the ninth, but he grounded into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded. Of course, the Mariners hung on to win anyway. One inning prior, Seager appeared to jam his ankle trying to round third base and came up a little lame after scoring, though he did carry on and finish the game. The homer was his 23rd of the year, overtaking his career high from last year. It also gave him 88 RBI, overtaking his career high of 86 from 2012.

Seager entered the game 2-for-10 off A's starter Jon Lester, a left-hander, but he doubled off Lester in the game before launching the solo homer to tie it in the seventh. The homer was Seager's 22nd of the season, tying the career high he set last season. At .278/.344/.479 with 85 RBI, it's shaping up to be the best season yet for the 26-year-old.

Kyle Seager went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Braves.

Seager busted out of a 1-for-14 mini slump with the three-hit afternoon, driving in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the first inning. It was Seager's 68th RBI of the year to go with a .278/.346/.475 line. The 26-year-old has gotten steadily better in each of his three full seasons in the majors, with this year trending towards being his best statistical season yet.

He's now got 13 home runs, 58 RBI and a .279/.350/.498 line at the season's midpoint in what's shaping up to be another banner year for the 26-year-old.

Kyle Seager went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI in the Mariners' 12-3 win over the Red Sox on Monday.

Seager came into the game on a 2-for-19 skid, a stretch in which he posted zero RBI. You don't often hear him discussed, but Seager will end the season as one of fantasy's top 10 third basemen. Batting .256, Seager is on pace for 21 homers, eight steals, 103 RBI and 65 runs, good for No. 9 amongst 3Bs on ESPN's Player Rater.

Kyle Seager stayed hot on Monday, hitting a three-run homer and walking twice in the Mariners' 5-1 victory versus the Padres.

Seager's three-run homer in the first gave Seattle a lead it never once sweated the possibility of losing. Tyson Ross shouldn't feel bad: Nobody has been able to get Seager out over the past few days. He is now 7-for-10 with a pair of walks, two doubles and six RBI in his past three games, a kick that has spiked his batting average from .243 to .261. After collecting 69 RBI over 160 contests in 2013, Seager has 45 in 67 games this year. He's on pace for 104.

He's 16-for-57 (.280) with nine RBI in June as he continues to rebound from his terrible start to the season. The third baseman is batting .259/.336/.457 on the year as a whole.
