Tatum was batting just .200/.289/.246 with no homers over 65 at-bats for Norfolk. He'll serve as the third catcher, which will likely result in Jake Fox getting some playing time at first base with Derrek Lee out.

The Orioles plan to call up catcher Craig Tatum from Triple-A Norfolk.

The club hasn't made an official roster move, but he's already on his way to Baltimore. Tatum is expected to catch Thursday afternoon against the Royals. The 28-year-old backstop batted .281/.349/.316 with four doubles and nine RBI over 126 plate appearances with the Orioles last season. He can safely be ignored in fantasy leagues.
