Orioles outfielder Trayvon Robinson has been demoted from Triple-A Norfolk to Double-A Bowie.

Robinson was batting just .220/.307/.333 in 52 games at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old was once considered a decent prospect and even debuted with the Mariners at age 23, but he seems doubtful to make it back to the major leagues at any point in the near future.

Trayvon Robinson's back stiffened up again Wednesday after he took batting practice.

Robinson has now been bothered by lower back discomfort for close to a week. The Orioles are calling him day-to-day. He'll open the season at Triple-A Norfolk.

Unfazed by some odd managerial shenanigans, Trayvon Robinson hit his second spring homer Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Robinson and Nate McLouth alternated between left field and center field each inning today. Manager Buck Showalter said afterwards that it was because he wanted both to get used to playing the Green Monster at Fenway (the Red Sox's new spring training park has a Monster-like wall in left). Apparently just having Robinson and McLouth switch midway through the game would have been too easy.

Orioles sent OF Trayvon Robinson outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Robinson was designated for assignment last week so the O's could clear a roster spot for Todd Redmond. Robinson has hit just .215/.272/.330 in the majors, but he was once regarded as a decent prospect.

Orioles designated OF Trayvon Robinson for assignment.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Todd Redmond, who was claimed off waivers. Robinson has a .215/.272/.330 batting line and a 104/22 K/BB ratio over his first 319 plate appearances in the majors. He's just 25 and has a pretty nice minor league track record, though, so he could receive interest from other clubs.

Orioles acquired OF Trayvon Robinson from the Mariners for INF Robert Andino.

Robinson, 25, has a .215/.272/.330 batting line and a 104/22 K/BB ratio over his first 319 plate appearances in the majors. While he has been a disappointment so far, the Orioles did well to get him in return for Robert Andino, who was a non-tender candidate.

Trayvon Robinson hit a solo home run in Friday's loss to the A's.

Robinson's second-inning shot off A.J. Griffin was his only hit in four trips to the plate. Robinson has homered just three times in 149 plate appearances, and is sporting a rough .214/.290/.328 slash. He's unlikely to be a big part of the Mariners' 2013 plans.

Trayvon Robinson belted a solo home run but the Mariners fell to the Angels on Saturday.

He also drew the first intentional walk of his major league career. With Michael Saunders sidelined because of a groin injury, Robinson has seen a sharp increase in playing time over the last week. He's now hitting .245 with two homers and eight RBI through his first 94 at-bats.

Trayvon Robinson had a nice night at the plate in a losing effort against the White Sox on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run.

Robinson also scored two runs in the game. Once thought of as a can't miss prospect, the 24-year-old outfielder is finally receiving his first real shot at extended playing time. He's responded by hitting .250 with a homer, five RBI and three steals over his first 68 at-bats. He's unlikely to make a major impact in mixed leagues this season, but keep him in mind as a sleeper option for 2013.

Trayvon Robinson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs scored against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Robinson is 4-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI in three games since being called up on July 24. He's still in line for significant playing time even with Eric Thames arriving, so he's worth trying in AL-only leagues.
