Kristopher Negron went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's Cactus League win over the Giants.

Negron hit his first home run of the spring in the sixth inning of Saturday's game. He also struck out in the contest. The Diamondbacks inked him to a minor league deal in late November. He spent the 2016 season in the Cubs system, posting a .256/.308/.403 triple-slash while swatting nine home runs, driving in 43 and swiping 23 bases. There is no fantasy upside here, but the 31-year-old outfield figures to serve as a nice depth piece for Arizona during the coming season.

The 30-year-old utilityman spent the 2016 season in the Cubs' organization, slashing .256/.308/.403 with nine homers, 43 RBI and 23 stolen bases at Triple-A Iowa. He'll provide depth at a multitude of positions for the Diamondbacks.

He's now off the 40-man roster. Negron had surgery in September to repair a torn left labrum and fractured left scapula.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Tyler Holt. Negron is out for the season after having surgery to repair a torn left labrum and fractured left scapula.

Reds placed INF Kristopher Negron on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to September 14, with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Negron underwent surgery to repair the issue as well as a fracture in his scapula. He is expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training next season.

Negron suffered the injuries on Tuesday night against the Pirates. He will undergo surgery next week and is obviously done for the remainder of the 2015 season.

The 29-year-old utility player was having just a brutal season at the plate for the Reds, slashing an anemic .141/.240/.163 with two RBI in 92 at-bats. He'll continue to provide organizational depth for the Reds and should get another chance with the big league club before the end of the season.

Kristopher Negron went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Johnny Cueto's RBI single in the eighth put the Reds on top, and Negron provided a cushion with his two-run blast. The 28-year-old wound up playing regularly for the Reds down the stretch and ended up with a solid .271/.331/.479 batting line. He could have earned a utility job for next season.

Though hitting for average and getting on-base haven't exactly been his forte, Negron has put together a solid showing with the Reds for much of the second half. After Friday's effort, he's batting .250/.311/.441 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 149 plate appearances.

It was his first multi-hit game since August 15. Negron had some fleeting relevancy in deeper mixed leagues while filling in for Brandon Phillips, but he had just nine at-bats this month coming into Friday's action.

Kris Negron went 4-for-4 with a sac bunt and an RBI against the Rockies on Friday.

Negron now five multihit games in 11 starts this month, though he's gone hitless in the other six games. He's done nice work filling in for Brandon Phillips since joining the team last month, and he could see time at shortstop after Phillips returns.
