Giants signed LHP Alex Torres to a minor league contract.
Torres was released by the Braves at the end of spring training after failing to claim a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The left-hander owns a 2.68 ERA in 154 1/3 major league innings, though that has come with a brutal 5.0 BB/9. He'll head to Triple-A Sacramento. Apr 14 - 10:02 AM

Braves released LHP Alex Torres.

Braves reassigned LHP Alex Torres to minor league camp.

Torres was in Braves camp this spring on a non-guaranteed minor league contract and clearly failed to blow the competition away. Control remains a serious issue for the 28-year-old left-handed reliever.

Braves signed LHP Alex Torres to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Torres pitched for the Mets in 2015, tossing 34 1/3 innings with a 3.15 ERA and 35/26 K/BB ratio. It's a nice low-risk bullpen signing for the Braves, though the 28-year-old southpaw is going to have to lower his walk rate if he wants to spend much of the 2016 campaign at the major league level. He'll serve as organizational depth if he can't crack the 40-man roster out of spring training.

Mets sent LHP Alex Torres outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.

He was designated for assignment earlier in the week after the Mets acquired Eric O'Flaherty. The southpaw passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to provide organizational bullpen depth for the Mets.

Mets designated LHP Alex Torres for assignment.

Torres has posted a 3.15 ERA and struck out a batter per inning for the Mets this season, but it's come along with a 1.51 WHIP and 26 walks over 34 1/3 frames. He's also a reverse splits guy and the Mets decided they'd rather have more of a lefty specialist in Eric O'Flaherty. Torres could get claimed on waivers.

Mets acquired LHP Alex Torres from the Padres for RHP Cory Mazzoni and a player to be named later.

New York has been on the hunt for left-handed relief help since losing Josh Edgin to Tommy John surgery. Torres isn't your typical lefty specialist -- his career numbers against right-handers are better than his numbers against lefties -- but the 27-year-old boasts a 2.55 ERA in 120 career major league innings and he won't even be arbitration-eligible until 2017. It's a decent get.

Alex Torres has received his visa and will head to the Padres' spring training complex on Tuesday.

Torres revealed the news himself on Twitter. It's obviously not ideal that the left-hander got a late start to spring training, but he'll have enough time to be ready by Opening Day.

Alex Torres is not expected to arrive at Padres camp in Peoria, Arizona before the weekend.

Torres is still dealing with work visa issues. The 26-year-old native of Venezuela was acquired from the Rays this offseason in a seven-player swap and is expected to open the 2014 season in the San Diego bullpen. He should have enough time in camp to get properly tuned up.

Padres left-hander Alex Torres won't arrive at spring camp on time due to a visa issue.

The native of Venezuela is only expected to be a couple of days late. Torres, 26, owns a 1.91 ERA in 66 career innings (all in relief) at the major league level. The Padres may give him a chance to start in the future.

Padres acquired LHP Alex Torres and RHP Jesse Hahn from the Rays for INF Logan Forsythe, RHPs Brad Boxberger, Matt Andriese, Matt Lollis and INF Maxx Tissenbaum.

Torres is coming off an excellent season in the Rays' bullpen where he posted a 1.71 ERA and 62/20 K/BB ratio over 58 innings. The 26-year-old is expected to pitch in relief in 2014, but the Padres are open to giving him another chance as a starter in the future.

Alex Torres leads all American League relievers since his call-up on June 1 with a 0.42 ERA and .085 opposing average.

Torres has a 0.35 ERA overall on the year and has allowed just six hits while boasting a 33/8 K/BB ratio over 26 innings. "He's turning into some kind of relief pitcher right now," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. Torres has worked his way into high-leverage situations and could potentially get some save chances should something happen to Fernando Rodney.

Rays recalled LHP Alex Torres from Triple-A Durham.

The Rays need a fresh arm after getting eight innings from their bullpen in Friday's win over the Indians. Torres is likely to serve in a long relief role. The 25-year-old has a 3.52 ERA in nine starts at the Triple-A level.

Torres tossed four innings of hitless relief on Saturday, but the Rays needed a fresh arm. He's replaced in the bullpen by Jeff Beliveau.

Rays recalled LHP Alex Torres from Triple-A Durham.

Torres will pitch out of the bullpen until the Rays need a starter to replace David Price, who hit the disabled list Thursday with a strained left triceps muscle. Torres had a 2.39 ERA in 37 2/3 innings at Triple-A.
