Tigers signed INF Niuman Romero to a minor league contract.

The deal does not include an invitation to spring training. Romero played in the minors with the Phillies, Mets and Blue Jays in 2011. The 26-year-old owns a .250/.330/.318 batting line over parts seven seasons in the minors. He's strictly organizational fodder.

Red Sox acquired INF Niuman Romero from the Indians for cash considerations.

Romero, a 25-year-old Venezuelan, batted .240/.306/.292 with a home run, 35 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 119 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He will probably head straight to Triple-A Pawtucket but is unlikely to have a major impact for the Red Sox this year.

Indians purchased the contract of infielder Niuman Romero from Triple-A Columbus.

Romero batted .240/.306/.292 with one homer, 35 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 367 at-bats between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus this season. With his value coming more in his ability to play all over the infield, he doesn't offer any fantasy value.
