Michael Kirkman has elected to become a free agent.
Kirkman was claimed off waivers from the Padres back in May, but made just one appearance at the major league level the rest of the way. However, the 30-year-old southpaw put up a 2.81 ERA and 34/17 K/BB ratio over 32 innings in Triple-A and should find another opportunity elsewhere. Oct 4 - 12:24 PM

Michael Kirkman (shoulder) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday.

Good news for Kirkman, who has fallen behind the other pitchers in camp due to an impingement in the back of his left shoulder. The 28-year-old southpaw was non-tendered by the Rangers in December, but he's in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee.

Michael Kirkman (shoulder) is not yet symptom-free and remains limited to flat-ground work.
