Orioles released RHP Logan Ondrusek.
The right-hander is set to receive a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on his injured pitching elbow and could be headed for Tommy John surgery. The O's made the decision to release him now so they won't have to pay his full salary. There's a chance they could look to bring him back on a minor league pact. Mar 17 - 9:13 AM

Date:

Logan Ondrusek will receive a second opinion on his right elbow from Dr. James Andrews.

Ondrusek didn't reveal what exactly the MRA on his elbow earlier this week revealed, only to say it wasn't what he hoped. It's pretty easy to read between the lines here, though. Tommy John surgery could be in Ondrusek's future.
Mar 10 - 1:17 PM

Logan Ondrusek will go for a magnetic resonance angiogram of his right elbow.

Ondrusek has been feeling soreness in his elbow dating back to last week, so the Orioles want to take a closer look. There should be more clarity on his status soon.
Mar 8 - 12:57 PM

Logan Ondrusek is day-to-day due to a sore elbow.

It doesn't sound like a major concern, but Ondrusek has had a hard time staying healthy this spring. He only recently got over an ankle issue. The veteran reliever appeared in seven games with the Orioles last season after starting the year in Japan.
Mar 7 - 11:02 AM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) tossed live batting practice Wednesday without incident.

He is now clear to make his Grapefruit League debut, though an exact day for that appearance has not been set. Ondrusek rolled his ankle around two weeks ago, shortly after arriving at Orioles camp in Sarasota, Florida. He's pretty much fully over it by now.
Mar 2 - 9:05 AM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) will throw live batting practice on Wednesday.

Ondrusek tweaked his ankle early on in camp but is just about fully recovered now. He should be cleared for game action if Wednesday's session goes well.
Feb 28 - 6:34 PM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) threw off a half-mound on Sunday.

He should be able to move to a regular mound for his next session. Ondrusek has battled a sprained ankle for a week but is getting back up to speed.
Feb 26 - 11:03 AM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) is expected to resume throwing off a mound soon.

Ondrusek just said a day ago that he wasn't sure when he'd resume throwing, so he must have experienced a lot of improvement over the last 24 hours. The reliever rolled his ankle nearly a week ago, but he'll be fine.
Feb 24 - 12:57 PM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) said he's not sure when he will be cleared to resume throwing.

Ondrusek rolled his ankle last weekend in Orioles camp and still has some minor swelling. It's not a big issue here in late February, but the right-hander is fighting for a spot at the back end of the Baltimore bullpen and any missed Grapefruit League appearances will hurt his cause.
Feb 23 - 9:11 AM

Logan Ondrusek (ankle) did fielding drills on Monday.

Ondrusek rolled his ankle on Saturday and still hasn't been cleared to return to mound work, but that should be coming soon. It's a very minor issue here in the early weeks of spring training.
Feb 20 - 11:14 AM

Logan Ondrusek may not pitch in an intrasquad game Wednesday after rolling his ankle Saturday.

It doesn't sound like anything that will keep him out long. Ondrusek is competing for a spot in the Orioles' bullpen this spring.
Feb 19 - 1:39 PM

Orioles re-signed RHP Logan Ondrusek to a one-year, $650,000 contract with a club option for 2018.

Ondrusek held a 9.95 ERA over seven appearances for the O's in 2016 after returning from a two-year stint in Japan. He'll try to win a middle relief job.

Logan Ondrusek has elected free agency.

The 31-year-old right-hander appeared in seven games for the Orioles in 2016, compiling a 9.95 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 4/3 K/BB ratio in 6 1/3 innings. He'll look to latch on elsewhere on a minor league deal.

Orioles sent RHP Logan Ondrusek outright to Double-A Bowie.

Ondrusek cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The veteran reliever will stick around as bullpen depth.

Orioles designated RHP Logan Ondrusek for assignment.

The right-hander had been optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, but the club needed to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Julio Borbon on Saturday. He should clear waivers and continue to provide bullpen depth for the O's.
