Rockies placed RHP Edgmer Escalona on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 6, with right elbow inflammation.

The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but it's possible he'll just decide to shut it down until next year. The Rockies are promoting Will Harris from Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move.

Escalona made five appearances with the Rockies last season as a September call-up, posting a 1.50 ERA over five appearances. The 23-year-old right-hander had a 6.00 ERA with the Sky Sox in 2010. Nicasio, 24, is one of better pitching prospects in the Rockies' system. He posted a 3.91 ERA over 28 starts with High-A Modesto last season, averaging 8.7 K/9 and 1.6 BB/9.

Escalona, 23, posted a 6.00 ERA over 57 relief appearances with Sky Sox this season, but has been much better lately, posting a 3.67 ERA and 35/9 K/BB ratio since the All-Star break. He'll be an extra arm down the stretch.
