Al Alburquerque experienced a pinching sensation in his right groin Wednesday but expects to be fine.

"I think I need to stretch more before I pitch in the game," he told reporters. "It's nothing serious. I don't feel like it's anything serious." Alburquerque has a 1.69 ERA and 18/6 K/BB ratio in 10 2/3 innings this year.

Al Alburquerque pitched another perfect inning Friday to lower his spring ERA to 1.13.

Alburquerque has a 12/4 K/BB ratio while allowing one run and four hits in eight innings. He's yet to really prove to be reliable, but Alburquerque is pretty obviously the Tigers' best reliever, having posted a 1.59 ERA in 56 2/3 innings since debuting in 2011. He's a sleeper candidate for saves.

Al Alburquerque fanned all three Astros he faced in relief Monday.

Alburquerque still needs to prove that he's reliable after missing much of last season with a stress fracture in his elbow, but he projects as the Tigers' most effective reliever. Whether that will lead to saves is anyone's guess, but he's something of a sleeper.

Tigers recalled RHP Al Alburquerque from Triple-A Toledo.

Alburquerque has missed all of this season following surgery to have a screw inserted into his pitching elbow to repair a non-displaced stress fracture. The right-hander posted a 1.87 ERA while striking out 67 over 43 1/3 innings last year and could eventually become a big part of the Tigers' bullpen again.

The Tigers will activate Al Alburquerque (elbow) from the disabled list Sunday.

Alburquerque has got his fastball up to 95-96 mph recently and is ready to help out the Tigers in the bullpen. He posted a 1.87 ERA while striking out 67 over 43 1/3 innings last season but has missed all of this year following surgery to have a screw inserted into his pitching elbow to repair a non-displaced stress fracture.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) declared himself ready to return to the Tigers.

Alburquerque pitched a scoreless inning Wednesday at Triple-A Toledo and reportedly got his fastball up to 95-96 mph consistently. The 25-year-old has now made back-to-back appearances in the minors, and is expected to be promoted when rosters expand.

If Al Alburquerque's arm feels fine Thursday following back-to-back appearances for Triple-A Toledo, he's expected to be promoted when rosters expand.

No surprise there. Alburquerque was an integral part of the Tigers' bullpen last season, posting a 1.87 ERA while striking out 67 over 43 1/3 innings. He figures to be eased into things with Detroit but could eventually find himself in high-leverage situations.

Tigers activated RHP Al Alburquerque from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Toledo.

Alburquerque has been making rehab appearances with the Toledo Mud Hens for a week. He'll continue to get in work against a lesser level of competition until the Tigers deem him ready to return to the big-league bullpen.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) struck out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday in his latest rehab appearance with Triple-A Toledo.

Alburquerque now has a 3.18 ERA and 8/3 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level. His 30-day rehab window expires later this month, but he could be activated sooner if Brayan Villarreal (elbow) requires a stint on the disabled list. Alburquerque has been on the disabled list all season following elbow surgery.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) has been moved up from High-A Lakeland to Triple-A Toledo to continue his rehab assignment.

Albuquerque gave up two runs over 3 1/3 innings but struck out nine for Lakeland. He shouldn't need too many more rehab appearances before rejoining the Tigers' bullpen later this month.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Lakeland.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this month.

Al Alburquerque (elbow) threw a 35-pitch simulated game Wednesday.

He's scheduled for at least two sessions of live batting practice before being cleared for a rehab assignment. Since he's been out all year, Albuquerque figures to need more than a handful of rehab appearances before returning. He certainly won't be ready prior to the All-Star break.
