Javy Guerra is in the starting rotation with Triple-A Albuquerque, but only to be stretched out to about three innings.

In other words, the Dodgers are looking at him as long man out of the bullpen. Guerra didn't make the Opening Day roster, but he should be back in the majors before long.
Apr 2 - 3:05 PM

Dodgers optioned RHP Javy Guerra to Triple-A Albuquerque and reassigned RHP Juan Abreu to minor league camp.

Guerra was the Dodgers' Opening Day closer last season, but he fell behind in camp this spring due to injuries and will now be stretched out as a long reliever in the minor leagues. A non-roster invite, Abreu will continue to serve as organizational bullpen depth.
Mar 17 - 10:01 PM

Javy Guerra will not pitch for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic due to liability issues resulting from his offseason shoulder surgery.

The Dodgers are surely relieved. Guerra has made two scoreless appearances for the club this spring, showing that the shoulder appears to be healthy. He should fill a middle relief role this season.
Mar 6 - 7:50 PM

Javy Guerra has been named a late addition to Team Mexico's roster.

The late addition was due to Team USA member Chris Perez's injury, which forced him to drop out of the competition. David Hernandez then left Team Mexico to join Team USA, opening up a spot on Team Mexico's roster. The 27-year-old righty was supplanted by Kenley Jansen as the Dodgers closer last season, and with the addition of Brandon League Guerra will likely fill a middle relief role for the team in 2013.
Mar 2 - 9:19 PM

Javy Guerra underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Friday and is expected to begin a throwing program in six weeks.

As long as he doesn't suffer any major setbacks, he should be fully recovered and ready to go for spring training. With Guerra, Kenley Jansen and Brandon League, the Dodgers should boast a terrific bullpen.

Dodgers recalled RHP Javy Guerra from Triple-A Albuquerque.

It was a very short stint on the farm for Guerra, who was demoted on August 21. He owns a 2.66 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 37/22 K/BB through 44 innings this season, and should easily work his way back into a setup role.

Guerra hasn't allowed a run since July 26 and is sporting a superb 2.66 ERA through 44 innings this season. He should be brought back up within the next few weeks.

Javy Guerra (knee) will make appearances Sunday and Tuesday at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Assuming all goes well with those outings and he doesn't experience any renewed soreness in his surgically-repaired knee, Guerra could be cleared to rejoin the Dodgers bullpen by next weekend. He'll remain in a setup role, however, with Kenley Jansen currently dominating as closer.
