Marlins signed RHP Javy Guerra to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
It's not on the same level of Brad Ziegler and Junichi Tazawa, but the Marlins continue to make bolstering their bullpen a focus. Guerra saved 21 games as a rookie with the Dodgers in 2011, but has struggled to regain his form since then. He'll need a strong showing in spring training to make the club's Opening Day roster. Angels sent RHP Javy Guerra outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Guerra was placed on waivers earlier this week, but there were no takers. This is actually the second time that the Angels have placed him on waivers this season -- and the second time he has passed through unclaimed. Guerra, 30, has not pitched more than 10 innings in a season since 2014.

Angels designated RHP Javy Guerra for assignment.

Guerra has a 5.68 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in 6 1/3 innings this season out of the Angels' bullpen. He was designated for assignment in May and passed through waivers unclaimed. That will probably happen again.

Angels purchased the contract of RHP Javy Guerra from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Guerra was actually designated for assignment in mid-May, but passed through waivers untouched. The 30-year-old right-hander saw three innings of work with the Angels earlier in the season. He last pitched more than 10 innings back in 2014. There is no fantasy intrigue here.

Angels sent RHP Javy Guerra outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Guerra passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The veteran right-hander will continue to serve as bullpen depth in the minors.

Angels designated RHP Javy Guerra for assignment.

Guerra made four appearances with the big club and didn't retire a batter in either of his last two. He'll surely clear waivers and be returned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Angels purchased the contract of RHP Javy Guerra from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Guerra holds a 2.19 ERA with 14 strikeouts over 12 1/3 relief innings for Salt Lake this season, although he's also walked 10 batters. He'll be used in low-leverage situations.

Angels re-assigned RHP Javy Guerra to minor league camp.

Guerra elected free agency but then accepted a minor league contract to remain in the organization. He held an 8.22 ERA over seven appearances this spring.

Angels signed RHP Javy Guerra to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Guerra had himself a rough season in 2015. Not only was he outrighted from the 40-man roster of the White Sox in May, he was then hit with a 50-game suspension in early July after failing a drug test. Back in 2014 -- prior to all that messiness -- the 30-year-old right-hander held a 2.91 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 38/20 K/BB ratio in 46 1/3 innings with Chicago. It's a no-risk bullpen flier for the Angels, but there's not any real fantasy upside here.

Major League Baseball has suspended Javy Guerra for 50 games due to a positive test for a drug of abuse.

It's another step in the wrong direction for Guerra, who was outrighted off the White Sox' 40-man roster in May. The 29-year-old likely won't see the majors again this year.

White Sox sent RHP Javy Guerra outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Guerra managed to pass through waivers despite a 2.81 ERA over 45 relief appearances the last two seasons. His near-$1 million salary probably had something to do with it. Guerra will represent relief depth in the minors.

White Sox activated RHP Javy Guerra from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.

It's a bit of a surprise given Guerra's 2.81 ERA over 45 relief appearances the last two seasons with the White Sox. The veteran reliever could draw some interest on waivers.

Javy Guerra (shoulder) is scheduled to being a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Charlotte.

Guerra has been sidelined since April 13 with mild inflammation in his right shoulder. He had rattled off three straight scoreless appearances for the White Sox before landing on the disabled list and should be ready return to Chicago's bullpen later this week.

White Sox placed RHP Javy Guerra on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 13, with right shoulder inflammation.

Guerra had made three scoreless appearances for the Pale Hose, so it's an unfortunate loss. Jake Petricka has been activated to take the vacant bullpen spot.

White Sox and RHP Javy Guerra avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $937,500 contract.

Guerra qualified for arbitration this winter as a Super Two player, so he'll go through the process for four years as opposed to the usual three. The 29-year-old posted a 2.91 ERA with a 38/20 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings last season and figures to pitch in middle relief in 2015.
