Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports that Giants officials are strongly considering Francisco Peguero as a reserve outfielder on their Opening Day roster.

He even hits at the fact that if the young outfielder performs well, he could seize a larger role. He's hitting .424 (14-for-33) with five RBI and a pair of steals through 13 spring contests, and could become a noteworthy player in fantasy leagues should he secure an everyday role. First, he'll have to beat out Cole Gillespie for the final spot on the roster.

Giants recalled OF Francisco Peguero from Triple-A Fresno.

He'll take the place of the injured Justin Christian (wrist) on the active roster. Peguero, 24, was hitting .272/.297/.394 with five home runs, 68 RBI and a .691 OPS in 105 games at the Triple-A level this year. He has been swinging the bat well lately and is pretty productive against southpaws, but he's unlikely to help in fantasy leagues.
