Jim Adduci (shoulder) is available off the bench Tuesday.

Adduci had to exit Monday's game with a strained muscle in his right shoulder, but he was feeling much better Tuesday. "It was something I never experienced before," Adduci said. "It kind of caught me by surprise. I tried to squeeze my hand and get the feeling back, but it wouldn't come back. It was kind of scary. It just made my arm numb."

Rangers recalled OF Jim Adduci from Triple-A Round Rock.

It will be the first call to the big leagues for the 28-year-old Adduci, who has played 889 games over 10 seasons in the minor leagues with three different organizations. He was hitting .298/.381/.463 with 16 homers, 65 RBI and 32 stolen bases at Round Rock and could be worth a look in deeper AL-only formats.

Jim Adduci had a big day at the plate in Friday's loss to the Giants, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a stolen base.

The 27-year-old outfielder is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, but has opened some eyes this spring by hitting .444 (12-for-27) with a homer and seven RBI in 19 games. He'll likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A, and could see time with the big league club in the event of an injury.

He'll also get a spring training invite. Adduci, 27, batted .298/.371/.419 with seven home runs, 44 RBI, 18 stolen bases and a .789 OPS in 126 games between Double- and Triple-A in the Cubs' organization this season. He's unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster.

Adduci batted .248/.302/.302 with three homers and 23 steals over 367 at-bats at Triple-A Iowa in 2010. He'll get an invite to spring training, but the 25-year-old has a very little shot of making the big league roster.

Cubs sent OF Jim Adduci outright to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs got Adduci from the Marlins back in 2006 to complete a deal involving Todd Wellemeyer. The 25-year-old turned in a .248 batting average in 114 games this year for Iowa and doesn't have a great future.
