Tigers recalled OF Jim Adduci from Triple-A Toledo.
Adduci will return to Detroit's active roster on Wednesday, in the wake of the J.D. Martinez trade. The veteran outfielder could see semi-regular starts in his second stint with the Tigers, but he seems doubtful to hold any fantasy relevance. Jul 18 - 7:12 PM

Jim Adduci (oblique) is up to 25 at-bats on his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo.

And he's tallied just four hits in those 25 at-bats for a batting average of .160. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said last week that he wants Adduci to get 30-40 at-bats in the minor leagues before returning to the major league roster. The veteran outfielder has been on the disabled list since May 11 due to a strained right oblique.

Jim Adduci (oblique) might be ready for a rehab assignment next week.

He's been taking batting practice for the last couple of days without pain. Adduci landed on the disabled list May 11 with a right oblique strain after impressing to the tune of a .318/.388/.500 batting line over his first 13 games with Detroit.
Jun 20 - 7:27 PM

Jim Adduci (oblique) is expected to take batting practice at Comerica Park this weekend.

If those sessions go well and he is pain-free doing other baseball activities, Adduci should be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment early next week at Triple-A Toledo. The 32-year-old outfielder has been on the disabled list since May 11 with a right oblique strain.

Jim Adduci (oblique) has begun hitting in an indoor batting cage.

And live batting practice sessions should soon follow, though there's no timetable yet for Adduci to embark on a minor league rehab assignment. He has been on the disabled list since May 11 because of a right oblique strain. "There is still some general soreness," the 32-year-old outfielder said Tuesday. "You just try to work through it. It’s coming along."

Jim Adduci (oblique) hit off a tee Monday and threw light long-toss Tuesday.

May 30 - 6:37 PM

Jim Adduci (oblique) told reporters Tuesday that his right oblique strain is "getting better."

But the 32-year-old outfielder has not resumed any baseball activities at this point and will likely remain on the disabled list through the end of May. Adduci had an impressive .318/.388/.500 batting line through 49 plate appearances this season with Detroit.

May 17 - 9:03 AM

Tigers placed OF Jim Adduci on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 11, with a right oblique strain.

The move creates a spot on the roster for J.D. Martinez who was activated from the disabled list on Friday. Adduci did a nice job in his limited time with the Tigers, slashing .318/.388/.500 with seven RBI in 49 plate appearances. It remains to be seen if there's a spot for him on the roster once he recovers from the oblique issue.
May 12 - 6:52 PM

Updating an earlier report, Jim Adduci was scratched from Thursday's game with a right oblique injury.

Adduci was scratched just minutes before Thursday's 10:07 PM ET start time against the Angels. He was replaced in right field by Tyler Collins, who was originally penciled in as the starting center fielder. Until the Tigers update his status, consider Adduci day-to-day.
May 11 - 11:21 PM

Jim Adduci was scratched from the Tigers' lineup Thursday against the Angels.

Adduci was being evaluated by trainers so it looks like he may have injured himself during pregame warmups. Tyler Collins, who had been slated to start at center field, will move over to right with Andrew Romine occupying center.
May 11 - 9:58 PM

The Tigers plan to give Jim Adduci some work in center field.

All 12 of Adduci's appearances this season have come in right field, but he played center the last two years in Korea. "I’m sure he’s adequate at worst," manager Brad Ausmus said about Adduci in center field. Adduci has hit .317/.391/.512 since being called up, so having him get some time in center would allow the Tigers to keep playing one of their hottest hitters after J.D. Martinez (foot) returns this weekend.
May 8 - 10:56 PM

Jim Adduci went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

He singled to center to score Tyler Collins in the fifth inning. Adduci has played well since being called to the big leagues last week. He is batting .323/.364/.484 with no homers and four RBI in 33 plate appearances. The soon to be 32-year-old spent the last two seasons playing in Korea.
