Jim Adduci (oblique) told reporters Tuesday that his right oblique strain is "getting better."
But the 32-year-old outfielder has not resumed any baseball activities at this point and will likely remain on the disabled list through the end of May. Adduci had an impressive .318/.388/.500 batting line through 49 plate appearances this season with Detroit. May 17 - 9:03 AM

Tigers placed OF Jim Adduci on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 11, with a right oblique strain.

The move creates a spot on the roster for J.D. Martinez who was activated from the disabled list on Friday. Adduci did a nice job in his limited time with the Tigers, slashing .318/.388/.500 with seven RBI in 49 plate appearances. It remains to be seen if there's a spot for him on the roster once he recovers from the oblique issue.
May 12 - 6:52 PM

Updating an earlier report, Jim Adduci was scratched from Thursday's game with a right oblique injury.

Adduci was scratched just minutes before Thursday's 10:07 PM ET start time against the Angels. He was replaced in right field by Tyler Collins, who was originally penciled in as the starting center fielder. Until the Tigers update his status, consider Adduci day-to-day.
May 11 - 11:21 PM

Jim Adduci was scratched from the Tigers' lineup Thursday against the Angels.

Adduci was being evaluated by trainers so it looks like he may have injured himself during pregame warmups. Tyler Collins, who had been slated to start at center field, will move over to right with Andrew Romine occupying center.
May 11 - 9:58 PM

The Tigers plan to give Jim Adduci some work in center field.

All 12 of Adduci's appearances this season have come in right field, but he played center the last two years in Korea. "I’m sure he’s adequate at worst," manager Brad Ausmus said about Adduci in center field. Adduci has hit .317/.391/.512 since being called up, so having him get some time in center would allow the Tigers to keep playing one of their hottest hitters after J.D. Martinez (foot) returns this weekend.
May 8 - 10:56 PM

Jim Adduci went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

He singled to center to score Tyler Collins in the fifth inning. Adduci has played well since being called to the big leagues last week. He is batting .323/.364/.484 with no homers and four RBI in 33 plate appearances. The soon to be 32-year-old spent the last two seasons playing in Korea.
May 3 - 11:04 PM

Jim Adduci (calf) is back in the Tigers' lineup Friday.

Adduci exited Thursday's contest with calf tightness, but apparently he's fine. He's in right field and batting seventh. The Tigers also have Alex Avila catching Friday.
Apr 28 - 3:23 PM

Jim Adduci left Thursday's game against the Mariners due to calf tightness.

He exited in the ninth inning after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Mike Mahtook took his place in right field for the final inning. Consider Aducci day-to-day.
Apr 27 - 7:09 PM

Jim Adduci returned to the big leagues with a bang on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Tigers topped the Twins.

The 32-year-old spent the past two seasons in Korea and hadn't been in a big league game since accruing 101 at-bats with the Rangers in 2014. He delivered a two-run double in the third inning on Sunday that increased the Tigers' advantage to 5-1. Given the amount of injuries the Tigers are dealing with in the outfield at the moment, Adduci could carve out at least a platoon role for the next few weeks if he keeps hitting.
Apr 23 - 5:58 PM

Tigers purchased the contract of OF Jim Adduci from Triple-A Toledo.

Adduci, who turns 32 in a few weeks, was off to a .349/.375/.488 start at Toledo after spending the last two seasons in Korea. He's starting in right field Sunday.
Apr 23 - 11:48 AM

Tigers signed OF Jim Adduci to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Adduci spent the last two years in Korea, putting up a .297/.365/.504 batting line. He'll try to win a reserve outfielder job.

Jim Adduci has signed a one-year, $650,000 contract with the Lotte Giants of the KBO.

Adduci was released by the Rangers earlier this week so that he could pursue this better-paying opportunity in Korea. The 29-year-old outfielder batted just .168/.239/.228 in 114 plate appearances this past season for Texas. He was a 42nd-round pick of the Marlins in 2003.

Rangers released OF Jim Adduci.

Adduci intends to play in Asia next season, very probably in Japan. The Rangers are in the process of selling his rights, which today's move makes possible. Adduci, 30 in May, slashed only .189/.259/.242 over 148 big league plate appearances.

Rangers designated OF Jim Adduci for assignment.

The Rangers are attempting to sell his rights to a team in Japan. Adduci hit in the minors, but he'll turn 30 in May and has managed just a .189/.259/.242 line over 148 big league plate appearances.
