Tom Mastny took a loss in relief after allowing four runs in one-third of an inning Saturday against the Twins.

Time for the Indians to shake up the pen again. Mastny has a 17.05 ERA in five appearances in the majors this season. The Indians could give Bubbie Buzachero a try.

Tom Mastny will start Tuesday night against the Rangers.

Mastny hasn't been a starter since 2005, but with Jake Westbrook heading to the disabled list the Indians needed someone to fill in on short notice. He figures to be on a relatively low pitch count, so expect plenty of action from the bullpen.

Indians optioned RHP Tom Mastny to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Indians thought about keeping six right-handers after dropping Aaron Fultz, but they ultimately chose Craig Breslow over Mastny for the last spot. Mastny had a 6.39 ERA this spring, and it didn't help his case that he had options left.

Tom Mastny lost to the Yankees after giving up a run in the eighth and three in the ninth on Sunday.

Mastny allowed six, walked one and struck out none in an ugly showing. He's been penciled in as the last reliever in the Cleveland pen, but with a 7.20 ERA in nine innings, he shouldn't be a lock. Jorge Julio would appear to be the one pitcher with a chance of overaking him.

Tom Mastny, who had been unscored upon in five innings this spring, surrendered four runs in an inning on Monday.

Jorge Julio also gave up a run. At the beginning of camp, it looked like one of the two would almost certainly claim the last spot in Cleveland's pen. However, the door now appears to be open for Rick Bauer to sneak in.

Tom Mastny pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three Monday against the Jays.

Mastny overcame long odds to win a bullpen spot with a big spring last year. This time, he'll have to hold off challenges from Jorge Julio and others in order to keep his spot. He's fanned five in three scoreless innings so far, so he's off to a good start.
