Nolan Arenado went 0-for-3 in Friday's loss to the Cardinals.
Arenado has hit his first bump in the road, as he's now hitless over his last 14 at-bats. Struggles are to be expected from a 22-year-old rookie, but we still think he'll produce enough to be relevant in most mixed leagues. Playing half of his games in Coors Field should help his chances. Nolan Arenado went 2-for-5 with a home run Sunday against the Rays.

Arenado was bumped to the No. 2 spot in the Rockies' lineup after he hit a grand slam off David Price in Saturday's game. He grounded out in his first two at-bats Sunday, then singled and hit a solo shot off Alex Cobb in the seventh inning. It's unclear if Arenado will remain this high in the lineup going forward, but he should continue to see plenty of RBI opportunities no matter what in the dangerous Colorado attack.
May 5 - 8:41 PM

Nolan Arenado went 3-for-6 with his first major league homer in Monday's win over the Dodgers.

Arenado's first major league hit was an infield single, but he later ripped a two-run shot to right-center field in the fifth inning that just cleared the wall. One of Arenado's three base knocks came off of Skip Schumaker, who came on to pitch in the 12-2 laugher, but, hey, we're not going to complain. Arenado needs to be owned in mixed leagues.
Apr 30 - 1:48 AM

Nolan Arenado is batting seventh in his major league debut Sunday, not eighth as originally reported.

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said himself that Arenado would be batting eighth, but evidently he had a change of heart. Josh Rutledge is in the No. 8 spot.
Apr 28 - 12:49 PM

Nolan Arenado is batting eighth for the Rockies on Sunday in his major league debut.

"Nolan will be in the lineup today," manager Walt Weiss said. "We'll start out plugging him in that 8th spot, ease him in." Arenado is replacing Chris Nelson as the regular third baseman after batting 364/.392/.667 with three homers, 11 doubles and 21 RBI at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He'll have a chance to be moved up in the order if he gets off to a hot start.
Apr 28 - 12:07 PM

Rockies purchased the contract of 3B Nolan Arenado from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Arenado had a disappointing 2012 season at Double-A, but he raked in spring training and has earned a promotion after batting .364/.392/.667 with three homers, 11 doubles and 21 RBI at Colorado Springs. Chris Nelson was designated for assignment, clearing the way for Arenado to become the everyday third baseman. He should be added in all fantasy formats.
Apr 28 - 8:38 AM

Rockies prospect Nolan Arenado will open the 2013 regular season at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Arenado made a great impression this spring in camp, but the Rockies are sending him back to the minor leagues to get a little more seasoning (and to delay his arbitration clock). Chris Nelson will start at third base for Colorado. Arenado will be worth picking up in deeper mixed fantasy leagues once he finally gets the call.
Mar 28 - 12:02 PM

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Rockies are giving "serious consideration" to making Nolan Arenado their starting third baseman.

Rosenthal adds that the Rockies are still looking to upgrade their starting rotation, and could use Chris Nelson or Ramon Hernandez to acquire a veteran pitcher. Arenado is batting .276 with a 1.069 OPS in 29 plate appearances this spring. If he continues to hit, he could force his way onto the Opening Day roster.
Mar 17 - 6:47 PM

Nolan Arenado ripped his third homer in as many games in Monday's loss to the Mariners.

The young third baseman also added a double for good measure, improving his Cactus League average to .412 to go along with four longballs. Arenado had a disappointing season at Double-A in 2012 and is likely to start the year back in the minors, but the Rockies haven't ruled out him cracking the Opening Day roster if he continues to hit.
Mar 4 - 8:07 PM

Rockies manager Walt Weiss wouldn't rule out Nolan Arenado making the Opening Day roster.

Arenado is expected to start this season in the minors, but there's a chance he could break camp with the Rockies if he continues his impressive spring training. "You don't want to ever put a limit on a kid like that and say he can't win a job," Weiss said. "He's made a good impression. We got another month to go, and the picture will get a little clearer with some more games. But he's certainly made a very good impression."
Mar 3 - 10:23 PM

Nolan Arenado went 1-for-3 with a home run in Sunday's Cactus League game.

Arenado went deep off A.J. Griffin in the second inning and has been highly impressive with three home runs already in spring training. If he can continue to play at a high-level, Arenado should find his way into a starting role with the Rockies at some point this season.
Mar 3 - 6:31 PM

Nolan Arenado hit his second home run of the spring in the sixth inning of the Rockies loss Saturday.

The homer came after Arenado recorded two deep flyouts in his first two at-bats. The highly touted third baseman entered camp in 2012 hoping to win the starting job, and his demotion led to a slump that sabotaged his chances of getting the call last season. Still just 21 years old, Arenado is viewed as the third baseman of the future for the Rockies. A strong spring could make the future sooner than later.
Mar 2 - 6:25 PM

Nolan Arenado socked a solo home run in Monday's 9-1 win over the Rangers.

It was part of a five-run eighth inning against Neil Ramirez. Arenado's stock has dropped a bit after he batted .285 with 12 homers and a .766 OPS in 134 games last season with Double-A Tulsa, but the Rockies are still hopeful that he's their third baseman of the future. He could play his way into the majors at some point this year.
Feb 25 - 5:51 PM

According to the Denver Post, Nolan Arenado will be "in the mix" for the Rockies' third base job.

The Rockies' top prospect, Arenado is in spring training as a non-roster invite, but is currently behind Chris Nelson and Jordan Pacheco at the major league level. While he's taken a step back from his breakout 2011, the 21-year-old has put together a strong offseason and could make an impact at some point in 2013.

Feb 16 - 9:42 AM

Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd said Wednesday that top prospect Nolan Arenado will not be promoted this year.

There was some thought that Arenado, a promising 21-year-old third baseman, would climb to the big leagues at some point in June. But there are now apparently questions about his mental makeup. "Arenado's maturity level has not yet reached his talent level," said O'Dowd. "He will probably finish the season at Double-A, unless there are injuries or other circumstances."
