Chris Owings did it all Thursday, homering twice and stealing a base to help the Diamondbacks down the Padres 6-2.
Owings hit a pair of solo jacks off batting practice fastba-- er, Padres starter Jered Weaver, popping one in the third inning before doing it again an inning later. He's now among the league leaders in RBI (19) and stolen bases (6), a testament to the kind of all-around month the 25-year-old is having. Owings is batting .325/.365/.550 with four homers and 12 runs to boot. Add him where you can. Apr 28 - 12:33 AM

Chris Owings stayed hot in Tuesday's game against the Padres, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored and three RBI.

Owings had a single in eight at-bats in two games in San Diego earlier in the month, but something about Padres pitching agrees with him back in Arizona. He has two singles, a triple, a homer and seven RBI in the first two games of this mid-week set against San Diego. He'll look to keep it rolling against RHP Trevor Cahill on Wednesday.
Apr 26 - 1:06 AM

Chris Owings went 2-for-4 and hit a grand slam against the Padres on Monday.

Owings also stole a base, his fifth in five attempts this year. He should be a breakthrough fantasy performer this year.
Apr 25 - 2:05 AM

Chris Owings doubled in a run in the top of the ninth to keep Clayton Kershaw from shutting out the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Owings had two of Arizona's four hits tonight and their only one to go for extra bases. He's batting .341 so far, and he should be viewed as a top-10 shortstop going forward.
Apr 15 - 1:22 AM

Chris Owings will bat second Monday against the Giants.

Owings hit fifth against right-hander Corey Kluber on Sunday, but he'll slide into the No. 2 spot against southpaw Matt Moore on Monday. The 25-year-old slugged his first homer of the season Sunday and is hitting .360 (9-for-25) with four steals through six games. He needs to be scooped up in leagues where he's still available.
Apr 10 - 1:26 PM

Chris Owings went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two steals in Sunday's win over the Indians.

Owings has been all over the place in the early going this season. Sunday continued that trend, as the 25-year-old socked a solo home run off Corey Kluber with one out in the sixth inning. That was his first dinger of the year. With his two steals, he is now up to four through the first week. He has also driven in runs in five of six games played. So long as Owings continues to perform like this, he will hold value in both NL-only and mixed-league formats.
Apr 9 - 8:18 PM

Chris Owings turned in a strong all-around game in Wednesday's win over the Giants, going 2-for-3 at the plate while scoring a run, walking twice and stealing two bases.

The Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first two innings before Owings started the Diamondbacks' comeback effort with an RBI single in the third. That would be his only RBI on the evening, but his overall work made for a fine showcase of his skills. He notched double-digit home runs (11) and double-digit steals (21) in 2016, a feat which he could well match as the 2017 season unfolds.
Apr 6 - 1:10 AM

Chris Owings will start in right field and hit second in Wednesday's showdown with the Giants.

With Owings starting in right, David Peralta will sit this one out unless needed as a pinch-hitter later in the game. Nick Ahmed draws the start at shortstop (Owings' traditional position) and is hitting eighth. On the mound, the Diamondbacks will be trotting out offseason acquisition Taijuan Walker to face off with Giants southpaw Matt Moore.
Apr 5 - 5:38 PM

Chris Owings is starting at shortstop and batting second for the Diamondbacks in Sunday's opener versus the Giants.

Owings might move down in the lineup against righties, but he'll be sandwiched in between A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt versus Madison Bumgarner. The Diamondbacks' full lineup is listed as follows: Pollock CF, Owings SS, Goldschmidt 1B, Jake Lamb 3B, Yasmany Tomas LF, Brandon Drury 2B, David Peralta RF, Jeff Mathis C, Zack Greinke P.
Apr 2 - 11:55 AM

Chris Owings went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple as the Diamondbacks topped the Athletics 3-2 on Friday in Cactus League action.

Owings, who made the start in right field, is now batting .371 (13-for-35) with a 1.034 OPS this spring. He’s probably the leader for the starting shortstop job, but his versatility gives the Diamondbacks options. His speed and multi-position eligibility should help in mixed fantasy leagues this year.
Mar 17 - 7:18 PM

Chris Owings went 2-for-2 with two RBI off the bench in Tuesday's 12-0 Cactus League rout of the Rangers.

Owings entered to play right field in the fifth inning and singled in his first at-bat before slugging a two-run homer off Jose Leclerc in the eighth. Owings is expected to serve as the Diamondbacks' primary shortstop in 2017, but he'll continue to see playing time all around the field this spring.
Mar 14 - 7:14 PM

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen has told Chris Owings that he'll see time in the corner outfield during spring training.

Owings filled in in center field last year while A.J. Pollock was hurt, providing the club with valuable versatility. Being able to handle either corner outfield spot defensively would only add to his value. Look for Owings to find himself in the lineup close to everyday, spelling players around the diamond that need a rest.
Feb 4 - 3:54 PM

Diamondbacks and INF Chris Owings avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.3 million contract.

It's a nice salary bump for Owings, who was arbitration-eligible for the first time. He batted .277/.315/.416 with five homers and 21 steals for the D'Backs last season.
Jan 13 - 2:42 PM

Chris Owings went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two steals in Wednesday's rain-shortened win over the Nationals.

Owings and leadoff hitter Jean Segura combined to collect five of the Diamondbacks' eight hits on the watery evening. The five-inning game was called following a long delay. With the two steals, Owings has swiped an even 20 on the season. That mark tops the career-best 18 that he notched in 2015.
Wed, Sep 28, 2016 11:13:00 PM

Chris Owings went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in a win over the Rockies on Saturday.

All four hits were singles. He singled to drive in a run in the second inning, and scored a run on a groundout by the pitcher in the sixth inning. He missed most of June and July due to a disabled list stint and has been mildly productive when healthy. He has a .285 batting average with just two home runs and 33 RBI in 92 games. His 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts represent his best fantasy contribution.
