Chris Owings slugged his ninth homer Thursday in the Diamondbacks' 10-3 rout of Colorado.
Owings staked the D’Backs to a 5-1 lead by crushing a three-run blast off Antonio Senzatela in the third inning. That was Owings’ only hit of the afternoon. Owings has cooled off this month (.213 AVG in June) but is still sporting an eight-game hitting streak. He’s already set a career-high in homers and needs just six RBI to match last year’s total of 49. Jun 22 - 6:43 PM

Chris Owings finished 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-2 blasting of the Padres.

The South Carolinian has been trending in the wrong direction lately, as his average has dipped from .324 to .296 just since May 28, a span of eight games. However, he has picked up the pace with four RBI over his past two games, and seven runs knocked in over his past seven outings.
Jun 7 - 1:59 AM

Chris Owings is not in the Diamondbacks' staring lineup on Saturday.

It looks to be a routine day off for Owings. Nick Ahmed will start in his place and bat seventh against Edinson Volquez and the Marlins on Saturday.
Jun 3 - 12:26 PM

Chris Owings contributed an RBI double in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.

Owings' two-bagger in the sixth inning opened the scoring. The infielder batted leadoff for the third time in the last four games, as he's seen increased chances at the top of the order with A.J. Pollock (groin) sidelined.
May 30 - 9:58 PM

Chris Owings hit his sxith home run of the season in a win over the Brewers on Thursday.

The homer was Owings' sixth of the year but his first in almost a month, last homering on May 3. Forty-six games into the season, he's now tied his career high for dingers. The 25-year-old dual threat also has nine steals on the year, and Owings is batting a healthy .320/.352/.491 in what sure seems to be shaping up as his breakout year.
May 25 - 11:44 PM

Chris Owings is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Saturday against the Pirates.

It's just a maintenance day for the 25-year-old. Nick Ahmed is in at shortstop and batting seventh against Pittsburgh starter Trevor Williams. Owings has been a pleasant surprise for the Snakes, hitting .310 with five homers, 22 RBI and eight steals in his first 34 appearances. He should be back in there on Sunday.

Chris Owings (flu) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Rockies.

Owings missed Saturday's game due to illness, but he's already feeling better. The 25-year-old has enjoyed quite the breakout so far this season, batting .300/.342/.491 with five homers, 21 RBI, and eight steals over 30 games.
May 8 - 10:12 AM

Chris Owings (flu) has been scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup Saturday against the Rockies.

May 3 - 10:40 PM

Chris Owings did it all Thursday, homering twice and stealing a base to help the Diamondbacks down the Padres 6-2.

Owings hit a pair of solo jacks off batting practice fastba-- er, Padres starter Jered Weaver, popping one in the third inning before doing it again an inning later. He's now among the league leaders in RBI (19) and stolen bases (6), a testament to the kind of all-around month the 25-year-old is having. Owings is batting .325/.365/.550 with four homers and 12 runs to boot. Add him where you can.
Apr 28 - 12:33 AM

Chris Owings stayed hot in Tuesday's game against the Padres, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple, run scored and three RBI.

Owings had a single in eight at-bats in two games in San Diego earlier in the month, but something about Padres pitching agrees with him back in Arizona. He has two singles, a triple, a homer and seven RBI in the first two games of this mid-week set against San Diego. He'll look to keep it rolling against RHP Trevor Cahill on Wednesday.

Apr 25 - 2:05 AM

Chris Owings doubled in a run in the top of the ninth to keep Clayton Kershaw from shutting out the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Owings had two of Arizona's four hits tonight and their only one to go for extra bases. He's batting .341 so far, and he should be viewed as a top-10 shortstop going forward.
