Astros outfield prospect Domingo Santana went 3-for-4 with a home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.
The 22-year old Santana has hit .295 .379 .475 wit 25 doubles, one triple, and 15 home runs over 107 games. He has also struck out 131 times in 456 plate appearances (28.7 percent). Santana struggled in the major leagues, going 0-for-17 with one walk and 14 strikeouts. He has the potential to be a solid starting outfielder who hits 20 home runs, but his strikeouts will remain a problem during his career. Santana is still very young, and will be given every opportunity to reach his potential. Aug 19 - 10:32 AM

Astros optioned OF Domingo Santana to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

It's been a rotten beginning to Santana's career, as he's gone 0-for-17 with 14 strikeouts. Dexter Fowler (intercostal) will be activated from the DL Wednesday to take his spot on the roster.

Astros recalled OF Domingo Santana from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Santana's first stint in the majors didn't go well, as he went 0-for-13 with 11 strikeouts. He might be in for another short stay, as George Springer (quad) is set to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Astros optioned OF Domingo Santana to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

It was a brief and disappointing big league audition for Santana, who went 0-for-13 with 11 strikeouts in his first taste of the majors. The 21-year-old will be back for good at some point, but he'll hone his craft in the minors for now.

Astros recalled OF Domingo Santana from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

This confirms a report from Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Santana, 21, was batting .304/.383/.502 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI over 84 games this season. Strikeouts could be an issue for him, so we're not expecting much on the batting average front, but he has pop in his bat and should receive regular at-bats in left field. Give him a try in AL-only and deeper mixed formats.
Jul 1 - 12:18 PM

Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Astros are calling up prospect outfielder Domingo Santana.

The Astros are also expected to call up infielder Enrique Hernandez and left-handed reliever Kevin Chapman. Santana, who was acquired from the Phillies in the Hunter Pence deal in 2011, is batting .304/.383/.502 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI over 84 games this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Strikeouts are an issue for the 21-year-old, but he has some pop in his bat. He should be worth owning in AL-only leagues and might be worth a try in deeper mixed formats.

Astros prospect outfielder Domingo Santana went 2-for-4 with a double and two walks for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, raising his season line to .298/.379/.488.

Santana has .419/.538/.581 with two doubles, one home run, and eight walks during his eight-game hitting streak. He is still striking out too much (26.7 percent for the season), but he makes consistent, hard contact and is showing his above-average power.

Astros outfield prospect Domingo Santana went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Santana is hitting .295/.368/.498 for the season with 17 doubles, one triple, and 10 home runs. He is striking out at an alarming pace, with 28.3% of his plate appearances ending with a strikeout, but if the 21-year old can improve his pitch recognition, he could be a very productive outfielder. Despite hit power, his strikeouts could be his undoing.
Jun 10 - 9:29 AM

Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports that when the Astros acquired Domingo Santana as the player to be named in the 2011 Hunter Pence trade, it was a tremendous mistake on the Phillies part.

Santana was not supposed to be included on the list of players that the Astros were sent to choose from when selecting the final piece of the trade, but through some sort of clerical error or organizational incompetence, his name was listed. It has turned out to be quite the coup for the Astros, as the 21-year-old is hitting .292/.368/.485 with nine homers and 37 RBI at Triple-A Oklahoma this season and already on the verge of contributing at the Major League level.
Jun 7 - 9:50 AM

Astros outfield prospect Domingo Santana went 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

His season line is .286/.344/.456 with 11 doubles, one triple, and four home runs. He strikes out too much (47 times in 160 PA), but he can flat-out hit and has the power to hit 20 home runs in the major leagues. If he can tone down his aggressive nature at the plate, he could turn into an elite player.
May 13 - 9:40 AM

Astros optioned OF Domingo Santana to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Santana, 21, hit .252/.345/.498 with 25 home runs last season with Double-A Corpus Christi and was added to the 40-man roster in November. While he's still aggressive at the plate, his power potential is intriguing.
Mar 10 - 2:27 PM

Astros purchased the contract of OF Domingo Santana from Double-A Corpus Christi.

The top prospect's production predictably dropped a bit during his first taste of the upper minors this past season, but he still posted a solid .252/.345/.498 slash line. Santana is a tantalizing prospect with high-voltage power that Houston obviously wanted to protect from the Rule 5 Draft.

Astros acquired OF Domingo Santana as the player to be named later in the Hunter Pence trade.

Santana, 19, has hit .269/.345/.434 with seven homers and 32 RBI in 391 plate appearances this season at Single-A Lakewood. He's a decent talent, ranked by most as a Top 10 prospect in the Phillies' system.
