Rays signed LHP Jordan Norberto to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old southpaw is still in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery, and must serve a 50-game suspension due to his ties with the Biogenesis clinic. He was a very valuable member of the A's bullpen in 2012, and could be a nice low-risk signing for the Rays. Jan 18 - 12:42 PM

Jordan Norberto told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle that he has signed a minor league deal with the Rays.

Norberto, who is in recovery from Tommy John surgery, still must serve a 50-game suspension for his ties to Biogenesis. He won't be an option for the Rays until mid-season. The 27-year-old left-hander owns a 4.00 ERA and 65/51 K/BB ratio over 78 2/3 innings in the majors.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays are considering signing Jordan Norberto.

Norberto won't be back until midseason while working his way back from Tommy John surgery and was also suspended 50 games for his involvement in the Biogenesis clinic. He has a career 4.00 ERA with 65 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings but does throw in the mid-90s. The Rays are viewing him as a cheap reclamation project.

Jordan Norberto received a 50-game suspension from MLB for his involvement in the Biogenesis clinic.

Norberto is currently a free agent and could now struggle to attract offers. The 26-year-old left-hander owns a 4.00 career ERA in 78 2/3 major league innings.

Jordan Norberto has filed a grievance against the Athletics.

Norberto contends that he hurt his elbow before being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento just before Opening Day. He went on to make three unsuccessful appearances at Sacramento before being placed on their disabled list, after which he was released and then eventually underwent Tommy John surgery. "I expected more from the team after the way I pitched for them last year," said Norberto. "But I'll work hard and get a job with someone else."

Jordan Norberto (elbow) underwent successful Tommy John surgery on Thursday.

Norberto also had two bone chips removed from his elbow. The southpaw will miss the rest of the season, but hopes to be pitching again by next March.

Jordan Norberto (elbow) will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in two weeks.

Norberto was released by the Athletics last month while he was sidelined with a left elbow strain. The 26-year-old will be in rehab mode until around midseason next year.

Athletics released LHP Jordan Norberto.

The move clears a spot for Daric Barton on the 40-man roster. Norberto is currently sidelined due to a left elbow strain. The 26-year-old had a 2.77 ERA and 46/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings with the A's last season, so he shouldn't have a problem finding a new home once he's back to full health.

Jordan Norberto expects to miss about six weeks due to a left elbow strain.

The good news is that the injury will not require surgery. The 26-year-old had a 2.77 ERA and 46/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings with the A's last season and will function as bullpen depth in the minors once he's back to full health.

Jordan Norberto has been placed on the minor league disabled list because of a left elbow strain.

There is no timetable for his return. Norberto was sent to Triple-A Sacramento before the start of the season and will remain there when he returns to full health.

Athletics optioned LHP Jordan Norberto to Triple-A Sacramento.

This move says more about the fantastic depth that the Athletics have in their bullpen than it does about Norberto. He posted a 2.77 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 46/22 K/BB ratio over 52 innings for the A's in 2012 before his season was ended by shoulder tendinitis. He believes that he's fully recovered, and will surely see time with the big club at some point during the 2013 season.

Jordan Norberto said Monday that he's totally recovered from the shoulder tendinitis that prematurely ended his 2012 season.

Norberto was back to normal after seven weeks of rehab in his native Dominican Republic and will not have any restrictions in spring training. He'll compete for a middle relief spot in the A's bullpen.

Jordan Norberto (shoulder) is not expected to be available for the rest of the postseason.

Norberto has been out since August 17 due to left shoulder tendinitis, and while he's resumed throwing, he isn't ready to try from a mound. "It's tough to consider him an option no matter how far we go," manager Bob Melvin said.

Jordan Norberto (shoulder) has resumed playing catch.

He's not ready to throw off a mound yet, though, which put his availability for the start of the postseason very much in doubt. Norberto has been out since August 17 due to left shoulder tendinitis.

Jordan Norberto (shoulder) hopes to play catch sometime in the next week.

Norberto hasn't pitched since August 17 due to left shoulder tendinitis. He has made progress following a cortisone shot earlier this month and is holding out hope that he will be available if the A's advance to the postseason.
