Angels optioned 1B Marc Krauss to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Krauss had a couple of timely hits in his two-week stay with the Halos, but he ultimately posted a disappointing .143/.211/.286 overall batting line. This move clears a roster spot for outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who was acquired from the Mets on Wednesday.
May 28 - 8:51 AM

Mark Krauss helped the Angels take a late lead and an eventual win with a two-run double on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

First baseman Albert Pujols had to leave the game after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch, so Krauss replaced him at first base. He turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead when he hit a seventh-inning double to plate two runs off of Steve Delabar. Krauss had been 1-for-13 since his promotion on May 12.
May 20 - 9:50 PM

Angels purchased the contract of 1B Marc Krauss from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Krauss was hitting .281/.405/.458 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 116 plate appearances at Triple-A. The 27-year-old will serve as a bench bat for the Angels.

Marc Krauss (back) aims to return to action Friday.

Krauss has been out of the Angels' Cactus League lineup for the last four days with back discomfort, but he felt fine while hitting in camp Thursday. The 27-year-old was off to a pretty good start in his bid for a bench spot, batting .500 (9-for-18) in 13 spring games.
Mar 26 - 3:37 PM

Marc Krauss said Tuesday that his back feels "a little better," but that he still has pain.

Krauss is currently dealing with back spasms and isn't sure when he'll be ready to return. He's hoping in a couple of days, but it's no sure thing. The 27-year-old is 9-for-18 with a home run this spring as he competes for a bench spot.
Mar 24 - 12:50 PM

Marc Krauss is day-to-day with back spasms.

Krauss tried to return to action Sunday but showed up to camp Monday with more tightness. The former Astro is 9-for-18 with a homer and five walks in Cactus League play as he tries to win a bench spot, but he obviously needs to get healthy.
Mar 23 - 8:04 PM

Angels sent 1B Marc Krauss outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Krauss was designated for assignment by the Angels last week, but passed through waivers unclaimed. The 27-year-old owns a lowly .200/.274/.341 batting line over 354 plate appearances in the majors, but he has some pop and could surface as a bench player at some point in 2015.
Jan 13 - 2:23 PM

Angels designated 1B Marc Krauss for assignment.

The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired Kyle Kubitza on the 40-man roster. Krauss was just claimed off waivers from the Astros in December, but the 27-year-old could soon be on the move once again.
Jan 8 - 6:05 PM

Angels claimed 1B Marc Krauss off waivers from the Astros.

Krauss, 27, owns a lowly .200/.274/.341 batting line over his first 354 plate appearances in the majors. However, he has some pop in his bat and could win a job as a lefty bat off the bench.

Astros recalled 1B Marc Krauss from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Krauss batted just .173 with a .581 OPS in 39 games with the Astros earlier this season. The 26-year-old is doubtful to hold fantasy relevance in his second look.

Astros optioned 1B Marc Krauss to Triple-A Oklahoma.

With Houston's promotion of Jon Singleton on Monday, Krauss was no longer needed. Prior to the demotion, Krauss was hitting a mere .173/.272/.309.

Marc Krauss went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Mariners on Sunday.

The home run, off Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma in the seventh inning, gave the Astros a 4-1 lead and they won by the same score. The homer was his fourth of the season. Despite the occasional blast, the first baseman is batting an unsightly .190/.289/.340 on the year.

Marc Krauss went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer of the season Wednesday against the Royals.

Since George Springer wasn't on the 40-man roster, the Astros could call him up today and not have him be eligible for free agency until after 2020. Jonathan Singleton, on the other hand, is on the 40-man and thus would still be eligible for free agency after 2019 if he were called up immediately. Singleton's timetable can be pushed back a year starting next week, and unless Krauss can come up with a few more big hits before then, he might be in danger of losing his spot.

Marc Krauss collected his first two hits of the season Wednesday in the loss to the Blue Jays.

Both hits were singles, but he'll certainly take them after his 0-for-14 start. Krauss is currently starting at first base against right-handers for Houston, giving him a smidgen of value in AL-only leagues. We don't like him nearly as much as the Astros seem to.
