Royals optioned INF Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha.

Colon has seen 127 at-bats with the Royals this season, but has done next to nothing with them. The 27-year-old infielder worked to a .228/.295/.268 triple-slash with no homers and five doubles in his previous opportunities with the defending champs this season.

Royals recalled INF Christian Colon from Triple-A Omaha.

Colon will give the Royals much-needed infield depth. He batted just .250/.313/.295 in 48 plate appearances earlier this season with Kansas City and can go on being ignored in standard fantasy leagues.

Royals optioned INF Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha.

Colon saw a decent chunk of playing time with the Royals prior to his Wednesday demotion. He just didn't do much with it. In 42 at-bats, the 27-year-old infielder slashed .262/.311/.310 with a pair of doubles. He could see additional major league time later this season, but doesn't make for anything resembling a fantasy play.

Christian Colon went 2-for-3 with a run scored in Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Even with the two-hit afternoon, Colon finishes spring with a .167 average. In doing so, he likely lost out on a chance to enter the year as the Royals' starter at the keystone, a spot occupied by the still-warm corpse of Omar Infante the past two seasons. Colon is still likely to earn a bench spot, but he obviously carries no fantasy value without a defined role.
Apr 2 - 6:07 PM

Christian Colon finished 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored Saturday against the Rangers.

Colon batted leadoff and started at second base for the Royals, a job he's hoping to win this spring. The stolen base was his first in Cactus League play. He would seem to have a leg up on Omar Infante, who has been sidelined after offseason surgery, for the starting spot, but his .182 spring average hasn't helped. It's likely this one will come down to the wire.
Mar 19 - 6:30 PM

Christian Colon played the role of the unlikely hero for the Royals in an unbelievable come-from-behind 7-2 victory in Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday, delivering a pinch-hit RBI single in the 12th inning.

It was the first at-bat of the postseason for the 26-year-old infielder, and he quickly fell behind 0-2 against Addison Reed before battling back and lining the go-ahead single into left field, plating pinch-runner Jarrod Dyson who had swiped second base and advanced on a ground ball.

Royals recalled INF Christian Colon from Triple-A Omaha.

Colon has hit .244/.306/.295 over 29 games with the Royals this season. He'll serve as a backup infielder the rest of the way.

Royals optioned INF Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha.

Colon hasn't been playing much of late and has picked up just one hit in 16 plate appearances since the beginning of June. Dusty Coleman has replaced him on the roster.

Christian Colon went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Colon hit an RBI double in the sixth inning -- consequently stealing third base for his first steal of the year -- before driving in another run with a groundout in the eighth. A couple of two-hit games have raised Colon's average to .235, but he's not much of an offensive option for the Royals at this point.

Christian Colon went 2-for-2 with a two-run double and a run scored as the Royals bested the White Sox 6-4 Sunday.

Colon was brought in as a replacement mid-game, and he came through with a big two-run double in the sixth inning to tie the score. He later scored the game-winning run. The Royals will host the Athletics in the American League Wild Card game Wednesday.

Christian Colon (finger) played six innings and had two hits in an instructional league game Thursday.

Colon has a broken bone in the tip of his right middle finger but isn't giving up hope of making it back this season. It's possible if he can convince the Royals he's healthy that they'll carry him on their postseason roster.

Royals placed INF Christian Colon on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to September 7, with a fractured right middle finger.

Colon had been holding out hope that he could play through the injury, but the Royals obviously decided against it. He hit .302/.348/.442 over 20 games across a few stints with the big club this season.

Christian Colon will test out his broken right middle finger with some throwing drills on Thursday.

Colon suffered the injury just a week ago, but the swelling has gone down and he's hoping to play through it. He doesn't expected hitting to be an issue, but throwing could. Even if he's cleared to play, don't expect Colon to have much of a role down the stretch.

Christian Colon left Tuesday's game versus the Rangers with a broken middle finger.

Colon suffered the injury while trying to field a ground ball. A Royals official would say only that he'll be out "a while," but the probability would seem to be high that his season is over.
