Royals reassigned INFs Christian Colon, Anthony Seratelli and Brandon Wood, C Adam Moore and OF Willy Taveras to minor league camp.
No surprises in this bunch. Colon hasn't lived up to the hype attached to being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. The 23-year-old owns a .275/.341/.372 batting line over his first three pro seasons and may end up as a utility infielder in the long run. Mar 19 - 12:44 AM

Royals shortstop prospect Christian Colon is expected to miss the remainder of the season after being hit in the face with a foul ball last week.

Colon was injured by his own foul ball last Monday in a game for Triple-A Omaha. The fourth overall pick in 2010, he'll finish the season with a .301/.376/.413 batting line with six homers and 13 steals.

The Royals have promoted prospect shortstop Christian Colon to Triple-A Omaha.

Colon, the fourth overall pick in 2010, was hitting .289/.364/.392 with five home runs, 27 RBI, 12 stolen bases and a .756 OPS in 73 games with Double-A Northwest Arkansas this season. The 23-year-old now has a .707 OPS in 1,181 plate appearances in the pros. While he has been a bit of a disappointment as a prospect, he could still end up as the Royals' second baseman or a utility man in the long haul.

2010 first-round pick Christian Colon went 2-for-4 with a homer Thursday for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Colon made his pro debut last year at high-A Wilmington, so it's no surprise to see the Royals staying aggressive and pushing him up to Double-A for his first full season. He might be the team's second baseman next year.

Royals shortstop prospect Christian Colon could wind up switching positions this season.

It will depend on if Alcides Escobar confirms the club's thoughts that he'll be the long-term shortstop. If he's able to do that, Colon, the fourth overall pick in last year's draft, will move over to second base. "Shortstops are hard to come by," assistant GM J.J. Picollo said, "and we drafted Christian because we thought he could play short. We’re going to play him at short this year and evaluate how close he is to the major leagues, and how well is Escobar doing. If the time comes when we have to move him to second base because Escobar is doing a great job, and we believe in Colon’s bat, we think the transition for him to second base will be easy."

Royals prospect shortstop Christian Colon was 0-for-5 in his professional debut with Single-A Wilmington on Tuesday.

Colon was selected fourth overall out of Cal State Fullerton in this month's First-Year Player Draft. The 21-year-old shortstop is expected to arrive to the majors rather quickly.

Fourth overall pick Cristian Colon is getting a $2.75 million bonus to sign with the Royals, according to Bob Dutton.

Colon didn't receive a major league deal, though he's as close to reaching the majors as any position player in the draft. He'll start his pro career at high-A Wilmington.

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports that the Royals have reached a tentative agreement with first-round SS Christian Colon.

Colon was selected fourth overall in the June MLB Amateur Draft. The shortstop batted .358 with 17 home runs and 68 RBI in 64 games as a junior this season at Cal State Fullerton. With pop and a reputation as a solid defender, he should be a good one for the Royals.

Royals selected Cal State Fullerton shortstop Christian Colon with the fourth pick.

The first mild surprise of the draft. Colon is rather slow for a shortstop, but he's a very solid fielder and decent pop. He profiles a lot like Bobby Crosby did as a prospect, and while that seems like a negative, Crosby had a chance to be a nice long-term regular before injuries struck. The Royals are desperate for a long-term shortstop, and Colon could be an option as soon as 2012.
