Manny Machado hit a two-run home run, his 33rd of the season, in Thursday's win over the Rays.
Machado took Rays starter Matt Andriese deep in the first inning, giving the O's an early lead that starter Gabriel Ynoa would make stand up. The home run gives him 33 homers, 94 RBI and 80 runs scored to go with a .264/.318/.487 line on the year. After a disappointing first half, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a resurgent second half that should calm the nerves of fantasy owners heading into drafts next spring. Sep 21 - 11:48 PM

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Orioles have "no intention" of shopping Manny Machado.

But it also seems highly doubtful that the O's will be able to lock up the 25-year-old third baseman to a contract extension with free agency looming after the 2018 season. Heyman hears club ownership was "within $8 million or $9 million" of making it happen a few years back. Machado has been on fire in the second half of 2017 and is up to 32 home runs and 92 RBI through 147 total games this year. He's also played his usual brand of excellent defense.

Manny Machado's night off on Wedneday is due to illness.

It was originally assumed that Machado was just getting a breather, but that's not the case. Tim Beckham was also originally assumed to be just getting a day off, but he's out of the Orioles' lineup after having a wisdom tooth removed.

Manny Machado is getting the night off Wednesday.

Ryan Flaherty will start at third base and bat ninth versus Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale. Tim Beckham is also taking a breather on Wednesday, with J.J. Hardy getting a turn at shortstop.

Manny Machado hit a solo home run and a walk-off, two-run blast in the Orioles' comeback win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

The Orioles fell behind 6-1 after the Yanks put up a six-spot in the top of the third inning. Machado cranked a solo blast off of CC Sabathia in the bottom of that frame, and he deposited a hanging Dellin Betances curveball over the wall with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to end it. It's the third baseman's second two-homer game in his last eight contests. He's gone deep 14 times over 233 plate appearances so far in the second half.
Sep 6 - 1:03 AM

Manny Machado swatted a pair of solo home runs against the Mariners on Tuesday.

He took Erasmo Ramirez deep in the sixth inning and then hit one out of the yard versus Casey Lawrence in the eighth. The two bombs bring Machado's total for the season to 30, giving him his third straight 30-homer campaign. He's currently on pace to tie last year's career-high of 37 dingers.
Aug 29 - 10:17 PM

Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored Monday versus the Mariners.

Machado had two singles and a double in the victory. While he didn’t have the first half many were hoping for, he’s been a monster since the All-Star break. Including Monday’s three-hit game, he’s batting .333 with 10 homers, 38 RBI, and 31 runs scored during the second half.
Aug 28 - 11:37 PM

Manny Machado launched a walk-off solo home run in Wednesday's 12-inning, 8-7 win over the A's.

After the A's forced the game into extra innings with two runs in the ninth inning, Machado came up in the 12th and finished matters off in emphatic fashion, swatting a 378-foot solo shot to left-center to end the contest. After a dreadful start to the season, Machado has come on strong after the All-Star break. He has cracked seven homers in his last 10 games and is now slashing .264/.318/.496 with 28 homers and 84 RBI for the campaign as a whole.
Aug 23 - 8:08 PM

Manny Machado smacked a two-run homer Tuesday against the Athletics.

The Orioles were unable to solve starter Paul Blackburn, but they perked up a bit after he left with an injury and it started with Machado's blast off of Simon Castro in the sixth inning. It's the third baseman's ninth longball this month.
Aug 22 - 10:32 PM

Manny Machado stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 in Saturday's loss to the Angels.

He singled twice and didn't factor into the scoring but it is nice to see him consistently finding success at the plate for a multi-game stretch. He struggled through a long slump for a good portion of the season but the tide has turned in recent days (he hit three home runs on Friday). He has his stat line up to .266/.320/.494 with 26 home runs, 81 RBI and 63 runs scored in 522 plate appearances and is a good bet to be one of the better hitters in baseball for the rest of the season.
Aug 19 - 11:52 PM

Manny Machado capped off an absolutely epic night at the plate on Friday with a walk-off grand slam, propelling the Orioles to a 9-7 victory over the Angels.

Machado crushed a two-run homer off of Angels' starter Andrew Heaney in the third inning, pulling the O's to within a run at 5-4. He then victimized Heaney again for a solo shot in the fifth. He saved the best for last though, blasting a walk-off grand slam off of Keynan Middleton in the ninth, finishing the night 3-for-5 with seven RBI. Machado's poor luck from earlier in the season has started to even out and he's now slashing .264/.319/.494 with 26 homers and 81 RBI.
Aug 18 - 11:17 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-5 and hit a grand slam off the Mariners' Yovani Gallardo on Monday.

The slam off his former teammate was the sixth of his career and second in eight days. He has five homers in his last 11 games after going the previous 22 without one.
Aug 15 - 2:05 AM

Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the A's.

Big day for Machado, though it fell in vain on the scoreboard. His solo home run in the eighth inning merely made the score 8-3. As for his triple on Sunday, that was his first of the season. While the stud third baseman is still slashing a modest .259/.317/.469 on the year, he looked like his old self in the final three games of this four-game set with the A's, having collected four extra-base hits over the weekend. Machado has 22 homers and 69 RBI to his credit this season.
Aug 13 - 6:52 PM

Manny Machado posted a single, a double and two runs scored in Friday's game at Oakland.

Machado entered the game with just two hits over his past 17 at-bats, dropping his average six points since his four-hit outburst on Aug. 6 in the homestand finale. Despite some ups and downs so far in August he still has three homers and 13 RBI in just 11 outings.
Aug 12 - 2:53 AM

Manny Machado hit his fifth career grand slam Monday against the Orioles.

It came in the seventh inning off J.C. Ramirez. Machado also had five RBI on Sunday, giving him nine in two days and 12 in seven games this month. His high for any month this year is 15.
