Manny Machado went 3-for-6 with a go-ahead RBI single in a 9-6 win over the Twins in 10 innings on Friday night.

Machado's RBI single was followed by a sacrifice fly from Nick Markakis and an RBI single by Adam Jones. The rookie third baseman has exceeded expectations in the early part of the season, as he owns a fine .314/.356/.503 batting line to go along with five home runs, 23 RBI, four stolen bases and an .859 OPS. He's already a top-12 third baseman in mixed fantasy leagues.
May 11 - 12:39 AM

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Machado had a two-run shot off Jerome Williams in the fifth inning and scored two runs. He continues to be as hot as any hitter in baseball. Machado is batting .390 with seven doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs over his last 14 games.
May 5 - 7:24 PM

Manny Machado collected his third homer and his 12th double Wednesday against the Mariners.

With six doubles in his last six games, Machado now ranks second in the AL in the category, trailing only Mike Napoli. With 20 doubles, four triples and 10 homers in 310 major league at-bats since being called up last year, he's displayed very impressive pop for a 20-year-old infielder.
May 2 - 1:15 AM

Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the Orioles' win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old phenom came up in the second inning with the bases loaded and came through with a two-run single, as the Orioles did all their damage against R.A. Dickey in the second inning. Machado is hitting .268 with 13 RBI after the night, and he bats near the top of a surprisingly potent Orioles lineup. He should only continue to get better.
Apr 23 - 9:54 PM

Manny Machado capped off a five-run ninth inning with a three-run homer off Joel Hanrahan as the Orioles defeated the Red Sox 8-5 on Wednesday.

Machado has had a rough season, so maybe Wednesday night will serve as a turning point for the 20-year-old. The home run, his first of 2013, broke a 5-5 tie and was Machado's only hit on the night. The third baseman is still batting just .200, but he's got potential for much more.
Apr 10 - 11:01 PM

Manny Machado will bat second in Tuesday's season opener against the Rays.

Machado didn't bat higher than sixth in the order in any game last season, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter is giving him a shot against left-hander David Price. The 20-year-old is expected to move back down to the bottom-third of the order against right-handers, but it's still a nice sign for his fantasy value.
Apr 2 - 9:22 AM

Manny Machado is scheduled to have a root canal on Thursday.

Machado probably won't play again until Saturday, but it's not a big deal. The 20-year-old batted .262/.294/.445 with seven home runs, 26 RBI and two stolen bases over 51 games in his first taste of the majors last season and should be relevant in mixed fantasy leagues in 2013.
Mar 7 - 11:14 AM

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Friday that Manny Machado will exclusively play third base during the spring and is not considered the backup at shortstop should anything happen to J.J. Hardy.

A shortstop by trade, Machado made an impact as a 20-year-old rookie while manning the hot corner in 2012. While he's still getting acclimated at the position, Machado has been working hard to improve his overall defense. Expectations should be tempered from a fantasy perspective for 2012, but Machado has the potential to be one the bright young stars in the game.
Feb 15 - 8:33 PM

Manny Machado spent more than 24 hours in a hospital last month due to a case of meningitis.

Machado has since made a full recovery and should be perfectly fine for the start of spring training next February. The 20-year-old batted .262/.294/.445 with seven home runs and 26 RBI over his first 202 major-league plate appearances. He'll start at third base in 2013.

Manny Machado became the second-youngest player in postseason history to hit a home run when he took Hiroki Kuroda deep in the fifth inning Wednesday.

Only Andruw Jones at 19 back in 1996 was younger than the 20-year-old. Kuroda hung a slider to Machado, and he deposited it over the left-center field fence for his first hit of the series. Ryan Flaherty also hit a solo blast, but that's all the Orioles could come up with in the extra innings loss.

Manny Machado launched two of the Orioles' seven home runs in Wednesday's 12-2 rout of the Blue Jays.

Machado tagged Carlos Villanueva for a solo shot in the fifth before getting David Carpenter for a two-run bomb in the eighth. The two-homer night was his second in 45 games since making his major-league debut on August 9. Nate McLouth, Jim Thome, Mark Reynolds and Chris Davis (twice) also went deep for the Orioles in their latest must-win game. Machado is now batting .264/.291/.443 through his first 183 big-league plate appearances.

Manny Machado singled in Adam Jones in the bottom of the 14th Thursday to give the Orioles a 3-2 win over the Rays and a three-game sweep at home.

What a game. The Orioles took a 2-1 lead on Taylor Teagarden's two-run double in the seventh, but gave it right back in the eighth. Extra innings saw the Rays use a five-man infield to help get out of a bases-loaded, none-out jam in the 13th, but the Orioles didn't suffer a letdown afterwards. They rallied with two outs in the 14th, as Jones's walk was followed by singles from Endy Chavez and the game-ender from Machado. It was Machado's only hit in six at-bats.

Manny Machado mania ramped up in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Royals, as the rookie third baseman hit his third home run in four games since making his MLB debut.

Machado took Bruce Chen deep for a two-run blast in the second. It was his only hit in four trips to the plate, but that doesn't dampen the fact that Machado is now hitting .375/.375/1.125 with five extra-base hits and seven RBI since being summoned from Double-A Bowie on Wednesday. Far from a finished product, Machado will cool off — likely considerably — but he should be owned in all formats for the time being.

Manny Machado broke out in a big way in Friday's 7-1 victory over the Royals, smashing a pair of home runs and driving in four.

Machado launched a two-strike pitch from Luke Hochevar for a solo shot in the fifth inning for his first MLB homer. A 15-year-old O's fan who caught the ball, gladly traded it to Machado for some autographed goodies. Astoundingly, the very next inning Machado blasted another homer, this one a three-run shot, that was caught by the very same fan. At just 20 years old and 35 days, he became the youngest player in Orioles history to record a multi-homer game. Growing pains are likely, but he figures to be the hottest waiver wire add this weekend.
