Manny Machado (hand) is in Monday's lineup against the Twins.

Machado was hit in the left hand by a pitch on Sunday, but he never had to leave the game. The Orioles sent him for X-rays just to be on the safe side, but it appears that there's no reason for concern.
May 22 - 3:09 PM

Manny Machado will undergo a precautionary X-ray on his left hand after being hit by a pitch during Sunday's game.

Machado was able to remain in the game, but he'll get it checked out just to ensure there's no structural damage. Look for an update from the O's after the results are in.
May 21 - 4:39 PM

Manny Machado finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two run scored in Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Machado posted four homers in April and he has six homers in the month of May. He appears to be fine after dealing with a sore right index finger recently. Despite the fact he is hitting just .225 overall on the season he remains an obvious must-start across the board.

Manny Machado (finger) is back in the Orioles' lineup Friday.

Machado sat out Thursday with a sore right index finger, but he's fine. He's at third base and batting third against Aaron Sanchez and the Blue Jays.

Manny Machado (finger) is expected to be back in the Orioles' lineup Friday.

Machado sat out Thursday with a sore right index finger, but he said he's fine. He's batting a disappointing .224/.308/.441 so far this season but has hit nine home runs.
May 19 - 3:29 PM

Manny Machado is out of the Orioles' starting lineup Thursday with a sore right index finger.

It doesn't sound like anything too serious, and Machado was probably due for a day of rest anyway. Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base and batting seventh on Thursday afternoon against the Tigers.
May 18 - 11:52 AM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 and hit a solo home run on Saturday versus the White Sox.

He singled and scored in the first inning, then cracked a solo shot in the second. The two hits boosted his batting average from .224 to .234 after 29 games. He has eight home runs, 16 runs and 20 RBI in 129 plate appearances.
May 6 - 11:57 PM

Manny Machado continued raking Thursday, going 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and a stolen base in the Orioles' 8-3 win over the Red Sox.

Machado put an exclamation point on a big fourth inning with a three-run shot over the monster against Red Sox starter Kyle Kendrick. The homer was his third in four games, and he's got seven on the year. His line is still lagging -- after Thursday, the 24-year-old is still hitting just .223/.325/.476 -- but he's 10-for-30 with four homers in his last eight games and is well on his way to getting healthy in the stat categories.
May 4 - 11:32 PM

Manny Machado belted a solo homer in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Chris Sale threw a pitch behind Machado in the first inning and then eventually struck him out. Machado went down swinging again in the fourth, but he got some revenge in the seventh with a solo shot. The third baseman has gone deep in two straight games and three times in his last five contests.
May 2 - 10:21 PM

Manny Machado hit his fifth homer Monday in the win over the Red Sox.

It was a slow home run trot afterwards, as if to emphasize his continued unhappiness about the Matt Barnes incident from last week. Machado is still hitting just .225, but he has his OPS up to .789 now.
May 1 - 10:33 PM

Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBI, a walk, and two runs scored in Friday’s loss to the Yankees.

Now that’s more like it. Machado plated two runs with a double in the third inning and added a long solo homer to center field in the fifth inning. According to Statcast, it was the longest home run of the season at 470 feet. Machado is batting just .231/.330/.436 even after his big performance on Friday, but things should only improve from here.
Apr 28 - 11:33 PM

Manny Machado blasted his third home run of the season on Friday, helping to power the Orioles to a 2-0 victory over the Red Sox.

Machado tagged Red Sox' starer Drew Pomeranz for a solo shot in the fifth inning, increasing the O's advantage to 2-0. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4. He has struggled through the first few weeks of the season, hitting just .200/.286/.400 with three long balls and nine RBI.
Apr 21 - 10:50 PM

Manny Machado went yard for the first time this season with a three-run homer Friday against the Yankees.

His three-run blast in the fifth inning brought the Orioles within one run before Seth Smith put them ahead in the seventh. Machado didn’t steal a single base last season, but he still made fantasy owners happy by establishing new career-highs in batting average, home runs, RBI, runs scored, and OPS. He also qualifies at shortstop in fantasy leagues. It's no surprise that he was an early first-round pick in most formats.
Apr 7 - 10:53 PM

Manny Machado rolled his left wrist while making a diving play on Monday, but he's expected to be fine.

Machado made an absurd play near the line in the 11th inning when he dove to snag a Devon Travis grounder and threw from his knees to nab Travis at first base. He sat on the ground for a bit afterward, as you could see he was in a bit of pain, but he took his at-bat in the bottom of the frame and it looks like he'll be OK.
