Manny Machado cracked a solo home run for his only hit and the Orioles' only run of the night on Wednesday.
Machado is having a fantastic season. Now slashing .311/.369/.552 with 21 longballs, 68 runs and 57 RBI. The only thing he doesn't do is run -- he hasn't stolen a base all year after swiping 20 last year. Jul 27 - 10:35 PM

Manny Machado is in the Orioles' lineup Thursday.

Machado sat out Wednesday's game while battling through the same flu bug that has affected Chris Davis and manager Buck Showalter. Manny is starting at third base and batting third Thursday versus the Yankees.
Jul 21 - 11:18 AM

Manny Machado (illness) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

The Orioles' clubhouse has been racked by a wildfire-esque stomach bug which has sidelined Machado, Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. Ryan Flaherty will bat eighth and handle the hot corner in Machado's absence. It is possible that Davis or Machado could be used in a pinch should the O's run into the need.
Jul 20 - 5:49 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Machado's three-run homer off Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda in the fifth inning snapped a 1-1 tie and provided the final cushion as the Orioles improved to 48-35. The 23-year-old (he turns 24 on Wednesday) phenom has posted a beautiful first half to his 2016 season, slashing .324/.380/.590 with 29 doubles, 19 homers and 53 RBI across 324 at-bats.
Jul 6 - 1:52 AM

Manny Machado went deep for the 18th time as part of a 2-for-4 night as the Orioles defeated the Rays 6-3 on Friday.

The elite third baseman now sports a mammoth .320/.382/.615 slash line with 52 runs and 43 RBI. He has yet to steal a base this year after swiping 20 last year. Still 23 years old, Machado should be a first round fantasy draft pick for years to come.
Jun 24 - 10:43 PM

Manny Machado will begin serving his four-game suspension on Sunday.

Machado has officially dropped his appeal and will sit out the Orioles' series finale against the Blue Jays along with a makeup game Monday versus the Rangers and a two-game set against the Padres. He was given the four-game suspension for charging at Royals starter Yordano Ventura on June 7. Ventura has also dropped his appeal and will serve an eight-game sentence.
Jun 18 - 7:15 PM

Manny Machado could drop the appeal of his four-game suspension.

Machado's appeal is slated to be heard Tuesday, but he could drop it before then. It sounds like the O's are just waiting for J.J. Hardy (foot) to come off the disabled list, which is expected to happen Saturday or Sunday. Machado could drop his appeal at that point.
Jun 17 - 4:39 PM

Manny Machado's suspension appeal will be heard on Tuesday.

He was suspended four games for charging the mound on Yordano Ventura after getting hit by a pitch in a game on June 7. Machado isn't going to get his ban completely overturned but the league might not knock off a game or two. Fantasy owners should expect to be without Machado for a few games next week.
Jun 16 - 6:34 PM

Manny Machado launched a two-run home run on Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Machado's dinger against David Price in the first inning got the scoring going, and Jonathan Schoop's solo job in the eighth wound up being the deciding run. The dynamic infielder is up to 17 bombs on the season, putting him three behind teammate Mark Trumbo for the major league lead.
Jun 14 - 10:07 PM

Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a homer as the Orioles fell to the Blue Jays in Toronto on Saturday afternoon.

Machado also scored three runs in the contest. His solo shot off J.A. Happ briefly put the O's ahead 4-3 in the sixth inning, but that lead would be very short lived. He's now hitting .306/.376/.600 with 16 homers and 39 RBI on the season, though he has yet to contribute a stolen base.
Jun 11 - 4:16 PM

Manny Machado is in the Orioles' lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays.

That means he's appealing his four-game suspension. Machado will eventually have to sit out, though the league may reduce his ban by one or two games. He's gotten off to a great start, hitting .303 with 15 HR and 37 RBI in 58 appearances. Machado has been filling in at shortstop for J.J. Hardy, who is out with a broken foot.
Jun 9 - 4:39 PM

Manny Machado has been suspended four games and fined $2,500 for his role in Tuesday night's benches-clearing brawl with the Royals.

It's fairly light compared to Rougned Odor's eight-game sentence for punching Jose Bautista, but Machado is probably going to appeal anyway and he'll remain active until that appeal is heard. Machado charged at Royals starter Yordano Ventura on Tuesday night in Baltimore after taking a pitch off his backside. The two had exchanged words earlier in the game. Machado appeared to land a few grazing punches on Ventura's head before a mass of players and coaches broke up the fight.
Jun 9 - 3:55 PM

Manny Machado is in the Orioles' starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Royals.

Machado is probably facing a suspension for charging the mound and landing a couple punches Tuesday on Royals starter Yordano Ventura, but that punishment might not be announced for another couple days and Machado is likely to appeal. Rougned Odor got eight games (eventually reduced to seven) for hitting Jose Bautista in the face last month. Ventura likely has a suspension coming too, and it should be longer than Machado's.
Jun 8 - 3:18 PM

Manny Machado was ejected from Tuesday's game against the Royals for charging the mound.

Machado took a Yordano Ventura fastball to the side and immediately ran out toward the Royals starter, landing a punch or two on Ventura's head before the rest of the cavalry arrived from both dugouts. There's probably a lengthy suspension coming for Machado, even though Ventura's pitch was clearly intentional. Rougned Odor got eight games (eventually reduced to seven) for punching Jose Bautista in the face last month.
Jun 7 - 8:51 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

Machado uncoiled for a two-run bomb off young Tigers starter Michael Fulmer in the fifth inning. At the time, it pushed the Orioles to a 5-4 advantage. Said advantage would be spoiled by J.D. Martinez and Miguel Cabrera in the eighth inning. Sunday's homer was Machado's 11th of the young campaign. He has also driven in 25 runs and scored 30, all while slashing a stupendous .333/.387/.653 over 150 at-bats.
