Manny Machado homered twice in a 7-3 loss to the Indians on Sunday.
Both homers came off of Corey Kluber, and Machado now has eight on the season. The Orioles aren't very good, but Machado is. He now has a .356/.434/.713 line to begin his 2018 campaign. We wonder when we'll start hearing the trade rumors for the 25-year-old shortstop, as it's pretty clear that Baltimore isn't going to contend in Machado's last year under contract. Apr 22 - 4:26 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-3 and worked a walk in Saturday's loss to the Indians.

The Orioles were completely shut down by Indians starter Mike Clevinger. Machado's single represented half of his team's hits for the afternoon. He is the only player in the O's lineup having a respectable season at this point. The impending free agent shortstop is slashing an excellent .337/.421/.639 with six homers and 15 RBI in 95 plate appearances.
Apr 21 - 7:00 PM

Manny Machado clubbed his sixth home run of the season as the Orioles defeated the Indians on Friday.

Machado entered the game with terrific numbers in his career against Indians' starter Trevor Bauer, and he crushed a solo homer off of him to tie the game in the fourth inning. Machado finished the night 1-for-3 plus an intentional walk and is now hitting .338/.418/.650 with six homers and 15 RBI on the young season.
Apr 20 - 10:53 PM

Manny Machado homered twice and doubled Thursday against the Tigers.

It's Machado's second multi-homer game this month and the 16th of his career. He's batting .338 with a 1.037 OPS for an Orioles team that's just 5-14 so far. The trade rumors are going to start up again at some point.
Apr 19 - 4:49 PM

Manny Machado collected two hits Wednesday in the Orioles’ loss to the Tigers.

Machado clubbed a double in the sixth inning, then came through with an RBI single in the eighth. Chris Davis plated him with an RBI single later in the frame as the Orioles jumped out to a 4-2 lead, though obviously it didn't last. Wednesday extended Machado’s hitting streak to six. His .319 average through 72 at-bats ranks 12th in the American League.
Apr 18 - 5:10 PM

Manny Machado had an RBI double in a 3-1 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

It was the only hit of the game. Even with the 1-for-4 day, Machado is still hitting .309 on the season, and the shortstop's OPS is up to .923. That's a much nicer beginning to the year compared to the struggles Machado had to start 2017.
Apr 15 - 4:12 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk against the Blue Jays on Monday.

This seems like a much better Machado than the one from the beginning of last year or the one from the end of last year. Besides the three homers and .326 average, he already has seven walks in 11 games. He's been averaging eight per month the last two years.
Apr 9 - 11:19 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Orioles fell to the Yankees on Saturday afternoon.

Machado's two-run double off of Sonny Gray in the third inning tied the game at 2-2. He sure does seem to love hitting in the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium. Machado is off to a much quicker start this season than he was in 2017, slashing .306/.405/.528 with a pair of home runs and four RBI.
Apr 7 - 4:19 PM

Manny Machado went 4-for-5 with a pair of solo homers, two walks, and three runs scored Friday against the Yankees.

They were his first homers of the season. Both of them were off CC Sabathia. This was Machado’s 15th career multi-homer game. He now has eight homers at Yankee Stadium dating back to 2015, the highest among visiting players during that timespan. We promise we aren’t trying to make Orioles fans paranoid about Machado leaving for New York next winter. The impending free agent is batting .313/.421/.531 through eight games.
Apr 7 - 2:01 AM

Manny Machado went 0-for-1 with three walks in Saturday's loss to the Twins.

Machado picked up a pair of hits -- including a double -- in Thursday's season-opening win. No such luck with the stick on Saturday, but he found his way on base three times nonetheless. The All-Star third-baseman-turned-shortstop began the season in horrendously slow fashion a year ago before picking up the pace down the stretch. Trying to avoid a repeat of that sluggish opening this time around as he barrels toward free agency this winter.
Mar 31 - 10:17 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday’s Opening Day victory over the Twins.

Machado doubled on the first pitch that he saw in the bottom of the first inning. The Orioles’ shortstop later hit a bloop single to center field in the 10th, but the Orioles were unable to cash in until Adam Jones’ walk-off homer in the 11th. Machado had an uneven 2017 campaign, but he could be looking at a $300 million deal this winter if he has a big walk year. He’s already off to a nice start.
Mar 29 - 7:12 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI in a 13-5 thrashing of the Pirates on Saturday.

His solo shot was one of three Orioles blasts in the first inning off starter Chad Kuhl. Machado drove in another run with a groundout later in the contest. He is moving back to shortstop this year and is on a mission at the plate, slashing .480/.536/.960 with three homers and 14 RBI two weeks into the spring schedule.
Mar 10 - 7:26 PM

Manny Machado had another big game Friday, going 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and four RBI in a 10-8 win over the Pirates.

Machado is 8-for-13 with two homers, two doubles and eight RBI. Let's just start the season already.
Mar 2 - 5:23 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with a grand slam Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Machado is 5-for-10 this spring. Judging by the early spring lineups, Machado is going to be the Orioles' No. 3 hitter this season. Last year, he spent the first 2 1/2 months batting third and then the rest of the season hitting second ahead of Jonathan Schoop. Moving back to third would help his fantasy value a bit, assuming that the Orioles can get decent production out of the top of their lineup.
Feb 28 - 6:08 PM

Manny Machado made it clear on Saturday that he wants to remain at shortstop when he hits free agency following the 2018 season.

Machado also said that he would like to stay with the Orioles, but understands the business side of the decision. So far, there have been no talks between Machado and the O's about a possible contract extension. Allowing him to play shortstop during the 2018 season should be a step in the right direction for the Orioles though regarding the chances of keeping him in Baltimore.
