Manny Machado doubled twice in Wednesday's shutout loss to the Yankees.
Machado was the only ray of sunshine for the Orioles. He doubled twice, collecting doubles 12 and 13 on the year, and is now hitting .355/.410/.673 in 117 plate appearances. That's a slash line that even makes Daniel Murphy blush these days. Machado is one of the best five players in all of baseball and will only see his fantasy value increase with more starts at shortstop. May 4 - 11:09 PM

Manny Machado is starting at shortstop on Tuesday.

Machado was originally penciled in at third base, but the O's have decided to let him play short with Ryan Flaherty covering the hot corner. Machado should get regular starts at shortstop while J.J. Hardy recovers from a small fracture in his left foot.

Manny Machado will start at third base Tuesday against the Yankees.

Many were expecting Machado to get the first crack to fill in for J.J. Hardy (foot) at shortstop, but he's staying put on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the newly-recalled Ryan Flaherty will start at shortstop. We still think Machado still has a chance to see some time at shortstop, which would obviously be nice for his fantasy value.
May 3 - 3:18 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles in Sunday's loss to the White Sox.

Machado was the only Oriole with more than one hit. As a team, they did not record an extra-base knock. The 23-year-old slugger is slashing a stupendous .350/.404/.660 with seven homers, 16 RBI and (already) 10 doubles. Almost half of his 35 hits have gone for extra bases.
May 1 - 5:02 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, five RBI and three runs scored as the Orioles trounced the White Sox 10-2 on Thursday.

Machado jumped on a slider from reliever Jake Petricka in the sixth inning to turn a relatively close game into a blowout. The homer was his seventh of the season, tying him for second-most in the American League (including with his teammate Chris Davis). The 23-year-old has 16 RBI and 19 runs scored to go with a .333/.389/.678 line through 21 games.
Apr 28 - 10:55 PM

Manny Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, his sixth of the season, in Friday night's loss to the Royals.

Machado stuffs the box score every night, and if Bryce Harper wasn't putting up obscene numbers in Washington, everyone would be talking about the Orioles' third baseman and how he's perhaps the front-runner for AL MVP. He's now hitting .397/.449/.794 with six homers and 10 RBI. He's decent at baseball.
Apr 23 - 12:13 AM

Manny Machado went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.

Two hits and two RBI is just another day at the office for the third baseman, who is now batting .407/.462/.780 with nine RBI and 13 runs scored on the year. He owns a 14-game hitting streak, having hit safely in every game this season, and he leads the AL in batting average, slugging and OPS. There is surely a pitcher capable of slowing the 23-year-old, he just may not have been born yet.
Apr 21 - 11:30 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI in Wednesday's extra-inning victory over the Blue Jays.

Machado kicked off the first inning with a no-out double that scored Joey Rickard. The Orioles learned their lesson and were careful with him late in the game, though. They intentionally walked him in the eighth inning, and they functionally did the same thing in the bottom of the 10th with two outs and a base open at first. It shows that Machado has become one of the most feared hitters in the majors. He's hitting .306/.382/.490, and opposing teams could continue to pitch around him until Adam Jones shakes out of his early-season funk.
Apr 20 - 10:54 PM

Manny Machado collected his fourth homer of the season, launching a solo shot off Colby Lewis in Saturday's loss to the Rangers.

Machado led the Orioles' power display on Saturday, but his club ultimately gave up a six-spot in the seventh inning to surrender their early lead. The 23-year-old is now hitting .383/.431/.723 with four doubles and four homers in 51 plate appearances. Fair warning: we'll probably run out of superlatives to throw at Machado by the end of the season.
Apr 16 - 11:31 PM

Manny Machado went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles in Wednesday night's loss to the Red Sox.

Machado elevated his game to superstar status a year ago, and that has carried over into the 2016 season. He's hitting .441/.486/.794 and is one of the premier young players in Major League Baseball. It would've been nice if he avoided getting caught stealing on Wednesday, but after yet another multi-hit performance, all is forgiven. He's a bona fide fantasy stud who should still swipe his fair share of bags before the season is through.
Apr 14 - 12:01 AM

Manny Machado went 4-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Rays.

Machado capped off a four-run second inning with his two-run bomb off Jake Odorizzi. It was his third dinger of the first week. In Sunday's win, he also notched his first double of the 2016 campaign. The 23-year-old superstar-in-the-making slashed .286/.359/.502 with 35 homers, 86 RBI and 20 steals over 633 at-bats in 2015. He is a fantasy stud and it isn't out of the question that he could actually post better numbers this season than he did last.
Apr 10 - 5:32 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the season in Thursday's win over the Twins.

Machado deposited a Phil Hughes offering into the seats for a solo shot in the sixth inning. He has hits in each of his first three games as he looks to follow up on a breakout 2015 campaign.
Apr 7 - 10:02 PM

Manny Machado is batting leadoff for the Orioles in their season opener Monday versus the Twins.

There was some thought that Rule 5 Draft pick Joey Rickard might get the leadoff nod, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter will go with his star third baseman instead. The full lineup for Baltimore against Minnesota righty Ervin Santana: Manny Machado 3B, Adam Jones CF, Chris Davis 1B, Mark Trumbo RF, Matt Wieters C, Pedro Alvarez DH, J.J. Hardy SS, Jonathan Schoop 2B, Joey Rickard LF. Chris Tillman is on the bump.
Apr 4 - 10:43 AM

Manny Machado was ejected from Wednesday night's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.

Machado took issue with a called third strike in the bottom of the sixth inning and was sentenced to the dugout by minor league umpire Joey Amaral. The star third baseman finished his night 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He's still sporting a .900-plus OPS on the spring.
Mar 30 - 7:58 PM

Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with his fourth homer and a walk in the Orioles' 16-8 defeat of the Red Sox on Saturday.

Machado is batting .306//358/.612 in 49 at-bats. The Orioles still don't seem to have settled on an everyday lineup for 2016, and Machado has hit in each of the top three spots in the order. It doesn't matter a whole lot for Machado's value, since he is going to bat somewhere in the top third, but it's probably better that he hit second or third, rather than first. Unfortunately, the only guy on the team with the approach of a leadoff hitter, Rule 5 pick Joey Rickard, probably won't be good enough to play regularly.
