Rincon was designated for assignment on Tuesday, but went unclaimed on waivers and will remain property of the Royals. He hit just .154/.170/.173 in 13 games at Double-A Arkansas this season.

Rincon was cut from the Padres' 40-man roster last week. The 22-year-old owns a decent .285/.355/.422 career batting line in the minor leagues and could turn out to be a nice steal for Kansas City down the road.

Rincon was designated for assignment last week, and now he's out of the organization. He's recovering from a knee injury but is just 22 and sports a pretty decent .285/.355/.422 career batting line, so he shouldn't have trouble latching on somewhere.

The move clears room for Yasmani Grandal on the 40-man roster. Rincon, 22, is batting .291/.321/.413 with 10 home runs, 48 RBI and a .733 OPS in 134 games with Double-A San Antonio. There's a chance he'll pass through waivers unclaimed.
