Robbie Erlin (elbow) pitched well in his second minor league rehab start for Double-A San Antonio on Friday, allowing three hits and a walk over 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Erlin punched out one in the outing, throwing 25 of his 42 pitches for strikes. He still will require at least another rehab start or two, but is on track to return to the Padres rotation in mid-August barring any setbacks.

Robbie Erlin (elbow) will move his rehab assignment up to Double-A San Antonio on Friday.

Erin struck out five over two scoreless innings for the Padres' Arizona League club on Sunday. It's not clear what he'll get his pitch count up to on Friday, but the left-hander appears to be tracking towards a mid-August return.
Aug 1 - 12:25 PM

Robbie Erlin (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Tuesday in Arizona.

Erlin has been out since May 18 with left elbow soreness. He's now progressing in the right direction and should be ready to return to the Padres near the end of July.
Jul 19 - 6:58 PM

Robbie Erlin (elbow) will throw a bullpen session on Sunday.

He'll throw the 'pen session at Petco Park before then going to the Padres' spring training complex to continue his rehab. There's no timetable for his return, but Erlin is clearly progressing in the right direction.
Jul 6 - 10:43 AM

Padres transferred LHP Robbie Erlin from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Irving Falu, who was claimed off waivers. Erlin, who is making his way back from elbow soreness, will resume throwing from a mound in early July.
Jun 26 - 4:10 PM

Robbie Erlin (elbow) said Monday that he's about two weeks away from throwing off a mound.

Erlin resumed throwing a week ago, long-tossing from 110 feet on Monday in his most recent session. The left-hander has been out since mid-May with left elbow soreness and is probably looking at the end of July before he can realistically rejoin the Padres' rotation.
Jun 23 - 8:06 PM

Robbie Erlin will resume a throwing program Tuesday after the latest MRI on his left elbow came back clean.

It's obviously good news, but Erlin is still three weeks away from rehab games. The left-hander has been out since mid-May with left elbow soreness but should be able to rejoin the Padres' rotation around the All-Star break if all goes well.
Jun 16 - 8:54 PM

Robbie Erlin, who injured his right elbow in mid-May, underwent a second MRI on Friday.

No determination has been made about when he will be able to resume throwing. Erlin remains out indefinitely.
Jun 14 - 4:44 PM

Robbie Erlin is expected to have a follow-up MRI on his sore left elbow this week.

Erlin has been on the disabled list since mid-May with elbow discomfort. "He was examined, and I think they want to have one more MRI, one more look to compare it to where he was like three weeks ago when they did it the last time," manager Bud Black said Wednesday. "So they're going to compare that and then see if he's good to go as far as getting back on a throwing program." Erlin was only expected to miss a couple of starts, but he remains sidelined indefinitely.
Jun 12 - 10:04 AM

Padres placed LHP Robbie Erlin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with left elbow soreness.

It's not clear when Erlin began feeling the soreness, as he spun 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his previous start over the weekend. However, the good news is that he's only expected to miss 2-3 starts. Tim Stauffer will take Erlin's spot in the rotation.
May 22 - 6:11 PM

Robbie Erlin held the Marlins scoreless for 6 1/3 innings in the Padres' 5-4 win on Sunday.

Erlin allowed just five hits -- one for extra bases -- while striking out seven in the win. He scuffled to start the year, but Erlin has now registered three straight quality starts. He lowered his ERA to 4.22 with a 1.24 WHIP in 42 2/3 innings. The southpaw has a tough draw his next time out, taking on the Rockies in Colorado on Saturday.
May 11 - 10:38 PM

Robbie Erlin limited the Royals to one run in seven innings in Tuesday's no-decision.

Outside of Salvador Perez's sixth inning solo homer, the Royals did nothing against Erlin, managing two other hits and striking out five times. It was the 23-year-old southpaw's finest performance of the young season. Erlin didn't have complete command of his impressive arsenal, however, walking four, the first time this season he's issued more than three free passes (and just the third time in six starts he's walked more than one). Erlin (1-4, 4.95 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) plays host to the surprising Marlins on Sunday.
May 7 - 1:29 AM

Robbie Erlin surrendered three runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old ran into Tim Hudson, or he may have pitched well enough to win. Erlin whiffed five, issued one free pass, and gave up a solo homer to Brandon Hicks. He was blitzed for eight runs last time out against the Nationals, but Erlin hasn't been awful outside of that. Certainly not as bad as his 1-4 record, 5.83 ERA and 1.40 WHIP suggest. Erlin toes the rubber against Kansas City in Petco next week.
May 1 - 12:34 AM

Robbie Erlin was hammered for eight runs over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Friday.

Ouch. Erlin couldn't dig himself out of an early hole, as he allowed two runs in the first inning and four more in the third. All told, he gave up 13 hits and two walks before being pulled in the bottom of the sixth inning. The young left-hander has now allowed 17 runs in two career starts against the Nationals. He'll attempt to turn the page next week against the Giants in San Francisco.
