Top prospect Blake Snell was sent down in the corresponding roster move. Marinez was among the Rays' final cuts during spring training. He's done a nice job at Triple-A this year, recording a 2.25 ERA over six outings. The 27-year-old will be used in mid relief.

The 25-year-old was released by the Tigers last week after posting a disappointing 8.84 ERA, 2.40 WHIP and 21/21 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings at Triple-A Toledo. He'll serve as organizational bullpen depth for the Dodgers.

Marinez, 23, registered a 3.57 ERA and 74/42 K/BB ratio in 58 innings this season at Double-A Jacksonville. He had a cup of coffee with the big-league Marlins last year and projects as a decent middle reliever.

Marinez is done for the season because of a right elbow strain suffered in late July. The 22-year-old allowed three runs in 2 2/3 innings this year.
