Eduardo Escobar knocked in four runs and homered on Sunday in a 10-4 clobbering of the Tigers.

The homer was Escobar's 20th of the year, and came with two outs and two on in the sixth inning off of Victor Alcantara. He's struggled to get on base for most of the second half of the season, but he does have an .866 OPS in September. A 20 homer, 70 RBI season is nothing to sneeze at, and that's what Escobar has done so far in 2017 with six games left to go.
Sep 24 - 3:29 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-5 with an RBI double and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

It took a while for the Twins to break through, but Escobar's run-scoring double in the fourth inning opened the floodgates in the 12-1 thumping. Escobar also reached base and scored in the seventh and eighth innings as the Twins piled on. The 28-year-old is quietly having a decent offensive year, batting .251/.309/.440 with 19 homers, 64 RBI and 58 runs scored after Thursday.
Sep 22 - 1:23 AM

Eduardo Escobar hit his 19th home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Escobar took Jays starter Marco Estrada deep to lead off the eighth inning, his only hit in three at-bats. The run scored set a new personal best for the 28-year-old, who has hit a number of career highs this season. Escobar is batting .251/.309/.448 with those 19 homers, 63 RBI, 53 runs scored and four steals on the year.
Sep 16 - 11:31 PM

Eduardo Escobar finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in the Twins' 10-6 victory over the Rays on Wednesday.

Escobar served as the Twins' cleanup man in this one and actually looked the part, smacking a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning and a one-run single in the top of the seventh. He also tripled and scored on Robbie Grossman's sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. Escobar, 28, is batting .253/.311/.431 with 15 homers, four triples, 12 doubles, 59 RBI, and 47 runs scored in 107 games this season.
Sep 6 - 4:50 PM

Eduardo Escobar had a triple, two homers and six RBI as the Twins skunked the Royals 17-0 on Saturday.

Escobar delivered the big blow in a six-run second inning when he swatted a two-run triple, and little did anyone know he was just getting started. The infielder then hit a solo homer in the fifth inning before capping the scoring, mercifully, with a three-run bomb in the seventh. Escobar now has 14 homers on the year, a new career high, and he's likely going to finish with personal bests in a number of offensive categories. The 28-year-old is hitting .253/.313/.423 in 103 games to date.
Sep 3 - 12:24 AM

Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-3 with a two-run single in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Escobar boosted the Twins to a 4-0 lead with his two-run single off Luis Perdomo in the second inning. He has driven in four runs in his last three games and is slashing .272/.329/.433 with 10 homers and 37 RBI across 254 at-bats.
Aug 2 - 6:38 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run and a steal in Sunday's 12-inning loss to the A's.

Escobar connected for a two-run homer off Jharel Cotton to put a loud bow on a three-run first inning for the Twins (Brian Dozier smacked a solo homer for the other run in the frame). Over the course of 75 games played this season, the 28-year-old infielder is working to a .269/.322/.434 triple-slash with 10 homers and 35 RBI.
Jul 30 - 8:25 PM

Eduardo Escobar finished 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's game in San Diego.

While it isn't much, he has posted four RBI over the past six outings. That's newsworthy because he had managed just four RBI in a 23-game span from June 17-July 16. Slowly but surely he is coming alive at the plate again.
Jul 26 - 3:54 AM

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Twins.

Escobar ripped a two-run triple in the third inning, with the ball caroming off the right field scoreboard to allow him the extra base. With just a little more roll, that three-bagger could easily have been an inside-the-park home run. This two-hit showing was his third in his last five games. For the season as a whole, the infielder is hitting .282/.329/.451 with eight homers and 28 RBI in 61 games played.
Jul 6 - 11:26 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Sunday's loss to the Indians.

Escobar drove in the Twins' first run of the game with his RBI single in the seventh inning. They would manage just one more in the 5-2 defeat. He is now working on a little six-game hitting streak. For the season as a whole, Escobar owns a .296/.344/.486 triple-slash with seven homers and 25 RBI across 142 at-bats.
Jun 18 - 5:39 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-4 and hit his seventh homer Thursday against the Mariners.

Well, this is surely the first time that Escobar has earned blurbs three straight days that didn't involve a hamstring injury. He had five hits in Tuesday's rout and now he's homered the last two days. He also had three hits and a homer in his previous start Sunday before sitting Monday. With his OPS suddenly up to .823 (it was .650 six days ago), he's going to have to be a lineup fixture until he cools off. That seems like bad news for Jorge Polanco.
Jun 15 - 4:48 PM

Eduardo Escobar followed up Tuesday's five-hit game by going 2-for-4 with a homer on Wednesday.

Escobar has 120 points of OPS on Jorge Polanco right now, which could lead to more time at shortstop. Working in Polanco's favor is that he's graded out surprisingly well defensively this year, whereas Escobar has definitely issues when it comes to range. Still, if Escobar had hit like this last year, when he was the Twins' starting shortstop, the team would have had additional incentive to trade Brian Dozier over the winter and make Polanco their second baseman.
Jun 15 - 12:18 AM

Eduardo Escobar collected five singles in six at-bats Tuesday against the Mariners.

Escobar raised his average from .246 to .274 tonight. It wasn't his first career five-hit game, though. He went 5-for-6 with a homer in a 20-6 win over the Tigers in 2014. Just like in that one, the Twins totaled 20 runs tonight.
Jun 13 - 11:36 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, and the Twins held on to beat the White Sox 7-6 on Thursday.

After a Jose Abreu error extended the first inning, Escobar made the Sox pay with a three-run blast off White Sox starter Derek Holland. Escobar then tacked on what turned out to be the winning run with an RBI double in the fifth. The 28-year-old has four homers and 12 RBI on the year, hitting .250/.328/.500 while playing all over the diamond for the Twins.
