Eduardo Escobar homered and doubled to lead the Twins to a 3-1 defeat of the Yankees on Tuesday.
Escobar isn't making things easy for the Twins. The team wants to take a long look at Danny Santana at shortstop, but Escobar was just fine as a starter there last year and he's kept hitting this spring, with four homers in 54 at-bats. There seems little doubt that the Twins would be better for the short-term by starting Escobar at short and Santana in center field. However, it is in the franchise's best interests to see if Santana can cut it at short, particularly since Byron Buxton is lined up as the center fielder of the future. Mar 31 - 4:41 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 and hit a grand slam against the Orioles on Tuesday.

The slam came off left-hander T.J. McFarland. Escobar was a solid regular as the Twins' primary shortstop last year, but his strong showing with the bat (.275/.315/.406) is kind of being written off as a fluke. He's set to return to a utility role for now with Danny Santana at shortstop for the Twins, but if Santana proves mediocre defensively and Aaron Hicks fails to hit, the Twins could always return to what worked for them in 2014.

Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-5 with a homer and six RBI in Saturday's 12-3 rout of the Tigers.

Escobar grounded out to third in his first at-bat, but he singled twice in the Twins' six-run fifth inning, hit an RBI single in the seventh inning, and then slugged a three-run shot in the eighth inning. Escobar is batting .277/.317/.409 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 132 games this season for Minnesota.

Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in his return to the lineup Tuesday.

Escobar hadn't started a game since a week ago, when he suffered a jammed right shoulder. He should be fine moving forward.

Eduardo Escobar (shoulder) came off the bench to hit a single Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Escobar hadn't played since last Tuesday due to a jammed right shoulder, but he entered the game as a pinch-runner in the seventh and stuck around to hit a single in the ninth. He should be back in the lineup soon.

Eduardo Escobar (shoulder) is available off the bench Monday.

Escobar hasn't played since jamming his right shoulder last Tuesday night, but he felt fine after taking some extra swings during early batting practice on Monday. It sounds like he's not far off from a return.

Eduardo Escobar (shoulder) is not in the Twins' starting lineup Wednesday night versus Detroit.

Escobar is day-to-day after jamming his right shoulder on Tuesday night. Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and bat seventh Wednesday against the Tigers.

Eduardo Escobar left Tuesday's game against the Tigers with a jammed right shoulder.

Escobar was injured while making a diving stop at shortstop. He's still being looked at by trainers, so it's not clear how much time he might miss.

Eduardo Escobar homered, tripled and drove in two in Friday's tilt with the Tigers.

The triple was Escobar's first of the season. He ended up one double shy of the cycle. In addition to that triple and his second inning home run off of Robbie Ray, Escobar collected two singles and scored three runs. The offensive outburst was certainly unexpected for Minnesota's number eight hitter. He's slashing .272/.315/.391 this season.

Eduardo Escobar belted a solo homer off Drew Smyly in the third inning on Friday, leading the Twins to a 2-0 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

He has done a terrific job at the plate in his limited time with the Twins, hitting .309/.351/.469 with two homers and 14 RBI in 53 games. He's worth using as a middle infield option in AL-only formats for as long as he's receiving regular playing time.

Eduardo Escobar came off the bench and hit a home run in the top of the 10th Monday to lead the Twins to a 1-0 win over the Indians.

Even though Escobar was kind of named the Twins' starting shortstop on Friday, he was out of the lineup for the second time in three games tonight. One would think tonight's homer has earned him at least the next couple of starts, but one never can tell with Ron Gardenhire. He's certainly the better AL-only fantasy option than Pedro Florimon Jr. anyway.

Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Friday that Eduardo Escobar will serve as the team's primary shortstop for the time being.

Danny Santana is being recalled from Triple-A on Saturday and will serve as his backup. The 25-year-old is off to a strong start this season, slashing .324/.351/.412 with five RBI in his first 34 at-bats. His lack of power and speed though make him virtually useless in fantasy leagues.

Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Twins' shortstop on Wednesday.

Escobar could get a look as the Twins' primary shortstop after this once. Pedro Florimon is a superior defender, but he's not hitting at all. Escobar, on the other hand, is at .345 in 29 at-bats. He doesn't really have much fantasy upside because of his limited power and complete absence of stolen base ability, but he might have a little value in AL-only leagues.

Twins recalled INF Eduardo Escobar from Triple-A Rochester.

The 24-year-old infielder has appeared in 55 games for the Twins this season, hitting .214/.268/.328 with three homers, nine RBI and a 10/23 BB/K ratio. He’ll provide depth and defensive versatility for the Twins down the stretch.

Twins optioned INF Eduardo Escobar to Triple-A Rochester.

Escobar has batted just .214/.268/.328 in a utility role this season. The Twins also optioned Oswaldo Arcia and Chris Parmelee prior to the All-Star break.
