Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Twins.
Escobar ripped a two-run triple in the third inning, with the ball caroming off the right field scoreboard to allow him the extra base. With just a little more roll, that three-bagger could easily have been an inside-the-park home run. This two-hit showing was his third in his last five games. For the season as a whole, the infielder is hitting .282/.329/.451 with eight homers and 28 RBI in 61 games played. Jul 6 - 11:26 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Sunday's loss to the Indians.

Escobar drove in the Twins' first run of the game with his RBI single in the seventh inning. They would manage just one more in the 5-2 defeat. He is now working on a little six-game hitting streak. For the season as a whole, Escobar owns a .296/.344/.486 triple-slash with seven homers and 25 RBI across 142 at-bats.

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-4 and hit his seventh homer Thursday against the Mariners.

Well, this is surely the first time that Escobar has earned blurbs three straight days that didn't involve a hamstring injury. He had five hits in Tuesday's rout and now he's homered the last two days. He also had three hits and a homer in his previous start Sunday before sitting Monday. With his OPS suddenly up to .823 (it was .650 six days ago), he's going to have to be a lineup fixture until he cools off. That seems like bad news for Jorge Polanco.
Jun 15 - 4:48 PM

Eduardo Escobar followed up Tuesday's five-hit game by going 2-for-4 with a homer on Wednesday.

Escobar has 120 points of OPS on Jorge Polanco right now, which could lead to more time at shortstop. Working in Polanco's favor is that he's graded out surprisingly well defensively this year, whereas Escobar has definitely issues when it comes to range. Still, if Escobar had hit like this last year, when he was the Twins' starting shortstop, the team would have had additional incentive to trade Brian Dozier over the winter and make Polanco their second baseman.
Jun 15 - 12:18 AM

Eduardo Escobar collected five singles in six at-bats Tuesday against the Mariners.

Escobar raised his average from .246 to .274 tonight. It wasn't his first career five-hit game, though. He went 5-for-6 with a homer in a 20-6 win over the Tigers in 2014. Just like in that one, the Twins totaled 20 runs tonight.
Jun 13 - 11:36 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, and the Twins held on to beat the White Sox 7-6 on Thursday.

After a Jose Abreu error extended the first inning, Escobar made the Sox pay with a three-run blast off White Sox starter Derek Holland. Escobar then tacked on what turned out to be the winning run with an RBI double in the fifth. The 28-year-old has four homers and 12 RBI on the year, hitting .250/.328/.500 while playing all over the diamond for the Twins.
May 12 - 12:48 AM

Eduardo Escobar homered and drove in four runs Wednesday in the Twins’ lopsided win over the Royals.

What a day for the 28-year-old. Escobar got Minnesota on the board early with an RBI single in the second and later capped his day with a three-run homer off Matt Strahm. That blast put the Twins up 9-1 in the seventh inning. Escobar also made a sensational play to rob Eric Hosmer of a base hit in the ninth inning. He’s a utility player but should spend most of his time at shortstop this year.
Apr 5 - 4:25 PM

Eduardo Escobar will not participate in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

Escobar had an invitation to play for Venezuela in the WBC, but he declined. The 28-year-old hit .236/.280/.338 with six homers and 37 RBI in 105 games last season and figures to serve in a utility role for Minnesota in 2017.
Jan 27 - 12:00 AM

Twins and INF Eduardo Escobar avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.6 million contract.

It's a small raise over the $2.15 million that Escobar took home in 2016. More useful for his defensive prowess and versatility than with the bat, the 27-year-old infielder slashed a mere .236/.280/.338 with six homers and 37 RBI in 105 games for the Twins in 2016.

Eduardo Escobar went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Tuesday's extra-innings loss to the Royals.

Escobar took Royals starter Ian Kennedy deep in the fourth inning for a solo shot, his sixth of the year. Before Tuesday, the 27-year-old had been just 5-for-56 in the month of September. The light-hitting infielder is batting .239/.277/.345 in 100 games overall.

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-5 and smashed a three-run home run on Saturday.

The big bomb in the eighth inning temporarily put the Twins on top but the White Sox would come back to win in extra innings. Escobar is hitting .269 with 4 home runs and 25 RBI in 212 at-bats. He stands to get a boost in playing time now that Eduardo Nunez was traded to the Giants.

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is not in the Twins' lineup Thursday against the Rangers.

Escobar has been medically cleared to play but the Twins are going to give him another night off just to be safe. Eduardo Nunez will grab the start at shortstop with Miguel Sano manning the hot corner. Escobar is available off the bench.

Twins GM Terry Ryan said Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is available off the bench Wednesday.

Escobar is apparently over the left hamstring strain he suffered Saturday. The 27-year-old has hit just .258/.284/.357 this year with two homers and one stolen base.
Wed, Jul 6, 2016 12:58:00 PM

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is not expected to be available until Thursday.

Escobar suffered a left hamstring strain on Saturday, but the Twins feel it's mild enough to keep him off the 15-day disabled list. If he hasn't made any progress by Wednesday, that feeling could change.
Mon, Jul 4, 2016 01:04:00 PM

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) will not be placed on the disabled list at this point.

Escobar departed Saturday's game with a strained left hamstring, but he evidently showed enough improvement when re-evaluated Sunday. He'll continue to be monitored but will avoid the DL for now.
