Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-5 and smashed a three-run home run on Saturday.
The big bomb in the eighth inning temporarily put the Twins on top but the White Sox would come back to win in extra innings. Escobar is hitting .269 with 4 home runs and 25 RBI in 212 at-bats. He stands to get a boost in playing time now that Eduardo Nunez was traded to the Giants. Jul 30 - 10:49 PM

Date:

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is not in the Twins' lineup Thursday against the Rangers.

Escobar has been medically cleared to play but the Twins are going to give him another night off just to be safe. Eduardo Nunez will grab the start at shortstop with Miguel Sano manning the hot corner. Escobar is available off the bench.
Jul 7 - 6:13 PM

Twins GM Terry Ryan said Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is available off the bench Wednesday.

Escobar is apparently over the left hamstring strain he suffered Saturday. The 27-year-old has hit just .258/.284/.357 this year with two homers and one stolen base.
Jul 6 - 12:58 PM

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) is not expected to be available until Thursday.

Escobar suffered a left hamstring strain on Saturday, but the Twins feel it's mild enough to keep him off the 15-day disabled list. If he hasn't made any progress by Wednesday, that feeling could change.
Jul 4 - 1:04 PM

Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) will not be placed on the disabled list at this point.

Escobar departed Saturday's game with a strained left hamstring, but he evidently showed enough improvement when re-evaluated Sunday. He'll continue to be monitored but will avoid the DL for now.
Jul 3 - 12:37 PM

Eduardo Escobar left Saturday's game against the Rangers with a strained left hamstring.

He went 0-for-2 before exiting in the third. Escobar's injury is about the only thing that hasn't gone the Twins way today as Minnesota led 17-4 after five innings. Danny Santana, who began the game in left field, replaced Escobar at shortstop with Robbie Grossman taking over in left. Escobar will be reevaluated on Sunday. At that point, we should know if he's headed to the disabled list.
Jul 2 - 4:51 PM

Eduardo Escobar was pulled from Saturday's game against the Rangers with an apparent injury.

Escobar flied out in the second inning and was badly limping to first base, prompting a visit from the trainer which led to his ultimate departure. Expect an update on his status from the Twins before the conclusion of their game.
Jul 2 - 3:31 PM

Eduardo Escobar went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday’s loss to the Yankees.

It took until his 43rd game of the season, but Escobar finally hit his first home run. This was after the 27-year-old slugged 12 homers in 127 games last season. Escobar is still hitting the ball in the air plenty, but the problem is that many of them have been infield fly balls. His fantasy upside remains limited.
Jun 18 - 12:18 AM

Twins activated SS Eduardo Escobar from the 15-day disabled list.

Escobar missed 16 days with a strained left groin. He returns Monday to a .237/.275/.289 batting line.
May 23 - 1:04 PM

Eduardo Escobar (groin) will be activated from the disabled list on Monday.

Escobar went 4-for-11 on a three-game minor league rehab assignment with High-A Fort Myers. He has been on the disabled list since May 7 due to a left groin strain and returns to a weak .237/.275/.289 batting line.
May 23 - 10:11 AM

Eduardo Escobar (groin) went 0-for-3 with a walk Sunday in his third rehab game with High-A Fort Myers.

That makes him 4-for-11 on his rehab assignment. Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press believes Escobar could be activated from the disabled list ahead of the Twins' series opener Monday night against the Royals. The infielder has been sidelined since May 7 because of a strained left groin.
May 23 - 9:28 AM

Eduardo Escobar (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Fort Myers on Friday.

Escobar has missed the last couple weeks with a strained left groin. He should be activated in a few days but might be poised for a bench role with the way Eduardo Nunez is swinging the bat.
May 20 - 8:49 AM

Twins placed INF Eduardo Escobar on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.

Escobar sustained the injury during Friday's game against the White Sox. Prior to the injury, he had been struggling at the plate, hitting just .237/.275/.289 with no homers and six RBI in 102 plate appearances. Jorge Polanco was recalled from Triple-A to take his spot on the active roster.
May 7 - 8:04 AM

Twins manager Paul Molitor announced Friday that Eduardo Escobar is likely heading to the disabled list with a strained left groin.

Escobar was lifted from Friday's game after sustaining the injury. Look for Eduardo Nunez to see the bulk of the action at shortstop for the Twins while Escobar is sidelined.
May 6 - 11:41 PM

Eduardo Escobar was forced to leave Friday's game against the White Sox with a strained left groin.

The injury doesn't appear to be serious, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit out a game or two as a precautionary measure. Look for Eduardo Nunez to see extra action in his stead if he's forced to miss any time.
