Royals 3B prospect Cheslor Cuthbert contributed four hits Saturday in a win for Triple-A Omaha.
Through his first three games, Cuthbert is hitting .636 with one homer and seven RBI. The 23-year-old made 19 appearances for the Royals last year, collecting a .217 average with eight RBI over 46 at-bats. Although Cuthbert would love to get another opportunity in the big leagues, he might be better off in Omaha right now. At this stage of his development, it's important for Cuthbert to be playing everyday, which obviously wouldn't happen in Kansas City. Apr 10 - 4:34 PM

Royals optioned INF Cheslor Cuthbert to Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert appeared in 19 games with the Royals last season and batted .277/.339/.421 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI over 104 games in Triple-A. Mike Moustakas has finally established himself, so the 23-year-old would only likely see significant time this season if there's an injury.

The Royals have discussed the possibility of converting Cheslor Cuthbert into an outfielder.

Cuthbert has never played the outfield as a pro, but the Royals think he's athletic enough to handle the transition. The 23-year-old hit just .217/.280/.370 over 50 plate appearances with the big club in 2015.

Cheslor Cuthbert knocked in four runs in a 2-for-3 night on Wednesday as the Royals bulldozed the Tigers.

Cuthbert hit a two-run single in the second inning and clubbed a two-run homer in the fifth. He entered the night with four career RBI in 26 major league plate appearances, so he doubled his total in one night on Wednesday.

Royals recalled INF Cheslor Cuthbert from Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert is 6-for-25 (.240) in a couple of stints with the Royals this season. He'll function as a right-handed bench bat down the stretch.

Royals optioned INF Cheslor Cuthbert to Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert was on the active roster to provide infield depth while Mike Moustakas dealt with a family emergency, but with Moustakas back, Cuthbert will return to the minors. He has a .256/.318/.389, eight homer, 33 RBI season working for Triple-A Omaha.

Royals recalled INF Cheslor Cuthbert from Triple-A Omaha.

With Mike Moustakas hitting the bereavement list, the Royals needed infield depth and Cuthbert fit the bill. Once a decently rated prospect, Cuthbert was hitting .256/.318/.389 with eight homers and 33 RBI for Triple-A Omaha.

Royals prospect Cheslor Cuthbert has gone 7-for-19 with three RBI over his last five games for Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert went 5-for-7 during a recent two-game stretch against Round Rock. His average is up to .295, much higher than his lifetime .258 clip. Scouts have to be encouraged by Cuthbert's high contact rate. In 84 at-bats, he's only been a strikeout victim nine times. Even though he's only 22, Cuthbert has already made 506 minor league appearances.

Royals prospect Cheslor Cuthbert went 4-for-5 with two doubles and a walk for Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

Cuthbert has gone 6-for-10 in his first two games with Triple-A Omaha, save a one game emergency appearance back in July. After announcing in late June that Cuthbert would be shifted to second base, Cuthbert has primarily played first base while hitting an impressive .326/.381/.482. He is already on the 40-man roster, and could see time in Kansas City in September, particularly if Eric Hosmer is unable to return from his injury.

Royals prospect second baseman Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 for Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Monday.

Cuthbert started the game at second base, and committed his second error in as many games. He has been hot as of late, hitting .385/.442/.615 during his 10-game hitting streak, and .311/.366/.467 over his last 32 games. Cuthbert has primarily played first base over the past month, but is slowly beginning the transition to second base to see if he can turn into an adequate second baseman, which will give his bat more opportunities to be in the lineup.

Royals prospect Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 on Wednesday at Double-A Northwest Arkansas, raising his season line to .272/.337/.420.

Cuthbert has been playing first base since Hunter Dozier was promoted to Triple-A, but he will be shifted to second base after he can get more practice. The move would be a solid bump to Cuthbert's long-term fantasy value, particularly if he keeps up his hot hitting. Cuthbert is batting .438/.471/.688 during his current eight-game hit streak.

Royals first base prospect Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run for Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday.

The Royals promoted third base prospect Hunter Dozier from High-A Wilmington to Double-A Northwest Arkansas, and shifted Cuthbert across the diamond in what appears to be a permanent move. Cuthbert was never the best defensive third baseman, as he had 19 errors in 58 starts at third base. He has hits in each of his last five games, and it will be interesting to see how the defensive switch impacts his hitting.

Royals third base prospect Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-5 with two home runs on Wednesday for Double-a Northwest Arkansas.

Before the game, Cuthbert's slugging percentage was .333; after it became .423. Cuthbert has the talent to be a .280 hitter with 20-plus home runs, but he seems more likely to fail to reach his potential. He has been young for every level, but he needs to consistently produce to revive his prospect status. He has improved his K/BB rate in 2014, with 14 walks and 13 strikeouts, which is always a positive sign.
