Cheslor Cuthbert (gallbladder) came off the bench and delivered an RBI single in his return to action Sunday against the Twins.
Cuthbert came into the game to play first base with the Royals up big. The 24-year-old has been dealing with gallbladder issues in recent days, but that he was able to come off the bench is a good sign about his progress. Sep 11 - 8:34 AM

Cheslor Cuthbert has been unavailable lately due to gall bladder problems.

"It’s not inflamed but it’s kind of acted up," Royals manager Ned Yost said of Cuthbert. "He’s vomiting a lot. He’s just very weak and doesn’t feel good." The timing is poor for Cuthbert, as he'd be in line for some playing time at third base with Mike Moustakas (knee) being used in the designated hitter spot. It's unclear when Cuthbert might be ready to play.

Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Royals' 7-4 win over the Indians on Sunday.

Cuthbert launched a game-tying solo shot off Danny Salazar in the bottom of the fourth inning and he contributed a two-run single to the Royals' three-run fifth inning. The 24-year-old infielder is slashing .226/.265/.340 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 39 games this season.

Cheslor Cuthbert returned to the Royals' lineup with a bang on Tuesday, delivering a three-run double in a loss to the Cardinals.

His bases-clearing two-bagger got the Royals on the board in the fourth inning but proved to be their only offense in the ballgame. Cuthbert finished the night 2-for-4, raising his season slash to .202/.232/.292.
Aug 8 - 11:19 PM

Royals activated INF Cheslor Cuthbert from the 10-day disabled list.

Cuthbert has been out since late June with a sprained wrist and bruised foot. Ramon Torres was optioned in a corresponding move.
Aug 8 - 2:26 PM

Cheslor Cuthbert (wrist, foot) will resume his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha.

Cuthbert fouled a ball off his foot while rehabbing last week, but it didn't keep him out of action before long. The 24-year-old originally landed on the disabled list in late June with a sprained left wrist. He could rejoin the Royals in a utility role once he's back to full health.
Aug 1 - 11:13 AM

Cheslor Cuthbert (wrist) and Paulo Orlando (shin) both suffered setbacks during their rehab assignments.

Cuthbert had been rehabbing at Triple-A Omaha while Orlando was doing his rehab with Double-A Arkansas. Few specifics have been offered on their setbacks, though it's safe to assume neither will be joining the Royals any time soon.
Jul 27 - 9:53 PM

Cheslor Cuthbert (wrist) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

Cuthbert is on the comeback trail after landing on the DL with sprained wrist late last month. The 24-year-old will play a utility role upon his return.
Jul 15 - 5:15 PM

Royals placed INF Cheslor Cuthbert on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 26, with a sprained left wrist.

It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. Jorge Soler has replaced Cuthbert on the roster.
Jun 28 - 2:46 PM

Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI versus the Astros on Wednesday.

The Royals probably would have sent Cuthbert down for a spell if he weren't out of options, but he's starting to hit some now after opening the season with a .140 average in his first 57 at-bats. He'll probably get a long look at third base later this year with Mike Moustakas quite likely to be traded.

Jun 8 - 12:01 AM

Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run in a loss to the Tigers on Wednesday.

His first-inning single plated both Eric Hosmer and Sal Perez and gave his club an early 3-0 lead that would not last for long. Cuthbert played well as a starter last season following Mike Moustakas' torn ACL injury, but this year he has hit poorly as a backup option. Last year he hit .274/.318/.413 in 510 plate appearances. This year he is slashing a woeful .185/.209/.277 with one homer and six RBI in 67 plate appearances.
Jun 1 - 12:09 AM

Cheslor Cuthbert struck out in all three of his plate appearances Tuesday, dropping his season line to .125/.176/.219.

He isn't playing a ton, but Cuthbert certainly isn't doing much with his opportunities. Cuthbert was decent enough for the Royals last season and is out of options, so he's probably not in danger of losing his roster spot when Jorge Soler (oblique) is activated.
May 2 - 11:30 PM

Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 and smacked a solo home run in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

His shot off Dallas Keuchel in the fifth inning stood as the Royals' first and only run until they broke through with six more in the eighth. He got a lot of playing time last year due to Mike Moustakas' injury, but this year Cuthbert is serving as a backup. This was the 24-year-old's second start of the season.
Apr 8 - 10:12 PM

Cheslor Cuthbert led the Royals with two hits Wednesday in their Cactus League win over the Padres.

Facing a barely-there Jered Weaver, Cuthbert ripped a two-run double in the first and later scored on a two-out single by Whit Merrifield. Later he connected on his first home run of the spring with a solo shot to left field in the sixth. Cuthbert became an everyday player after Mike Moustakas went down with a torn ACL last season, but this year he’ll be his backup.
