Jarred Cosart wasn't involved in the decision after giving up five runs in 5 1/3 innings Thursday versus the Mets.
Cosart had a 1/3 K/BB ratio in limiting the Rays to one run in six innings his first time out. Tonight, he had a 5/1 K/BB ratio and got roughed up, with the Mets breaking out for three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth. Cosart is a fantasy option solely in NL-only leagues. Apr 16 - 10:31 PM

Jarred Cosart tossed six innings of one-run ball in a loss to the Rays on Saturday.

Cosart pitched well enough to deserve a win, but the Miami offense couldn't figure out Rays starter Chris Archer. Cosart struck out one and walked three over his six frames. He'll get the Mets on the road next.
Apr 11 - 6:51 PM

Jarred Cosart has been fined but not suspended by Major League Baseball for illegal gambling.

MLB noted in their press release that Cosart "fully cooperated with the investigation," which "did not reveal any evidence" to suggest that the pitcher bet on baseball. The matter is now considered closed.
Apr 3 - 4:13 PM

Jarred Cosart limited the Nationals to one hit over six scoreless innings on Wednesday.

Cosart entered the day with an 8.49 ERA and a 7/8 K/BB ratio in 11 2/3 innings, so he needed this. The reported investigation into Cosart's possible gamble habits doesn't look like it will interfere with him opening the season as scheduled.
Apr 1 - 4:02 PM

Jarred Cosart has a blister on his pitching hand and will not make his scheduled start Friday.

Cosart is currently being investigated by Major League Baseball after a person on Twitter revealed direct messages with the right-hander (or somebody claiming to be him) that contained boasts of past gambling activity. That investigation may have something to do with the sudden Grapefruit League scratch.
Mar 26 - 10:48 AM

According to Tim Elfrink of the Miami New Times, MLB chief communications officer Pat Courtney confirmed that they are investigating gambling allegations involving Marlins right-hander Jarred Cosart.

Cosart is in the middle of controversy after a so-called "gambling expert" tweeted out pictures of purported direct messages with the pitcher about his gambling activity. The tweet gained some attention and Cosart soon deleted his Twitter account. The validity of the allegation is unclear and there's nothing to indicate that his gambling involved baseball or anything illegal, but MLB obviously takes these claims very seriously and will look into the situation as a matter of due diligence at the very least.
Mar 25 - 10:54 AM

Jarred Cosart surrendered four runs and walked four in four innings Sunday in a loss to the Twins.

Cosart is going in the wrong direction this spring; he now has an 8.49 ERA and a 7/8 K/BB ratio in 11 2/3 innings. His WHIP is sitting at 2.23. Good things are expected from Cosart this year, especially with the way his walk rate dropped after the move to the NL last summer, but he still doesn't rate anything more than a late-round pick in NL-only leagues.
Mar 22 - 4:24 PM

Jarred Cosart allowed four runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Cardinals.

The only good thing to say is that he got his work in. He also walked three to go along with the eight hits, so he retired fewer than half of the 21 batters he faced.
Mar 17 - 5:34 PM

Jarred Cosart retired all six Cardinals he faced, striking out two, in his start Sunday.

Cosart took a step forward last year and could take another one this season by improving either his curveball or changeup. Last year's gains were largely in the command department, and he was strong there today, needing 24 pitches (16 strikes) to get through two.
Mar 8 - 4:25 PM

Jarred Cosart was all over the place in his final start of the season Friday, walking eight batters in a loss to the Nationals.

Cosart somehow managed to give up only three runs -- two earned -- over his five innings, but he was misfiring all day. He struck out three and yielded four hits, including a home run. The 24-year-old hadn't walked more than two batters in his previous nine outings for the Marlins while holding a 2.29 ERA. He ends up with a 3.69 ERA overall between the Astros and Marlins, but his 115/73 K/BB ratio over 180 1/3 frames suggests that he was pretty luck to have a mark that low.

Jarred Cosart picked up his 13th victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Braves to three runs on five hits over 7 2/3 innings of work.

The young right-hander struck out six and walked just one on the night. He has been tremendous since coming over in a trade from the Astros, posting a 4-1 record, 1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings in his six starts. He'll look to keep it rolling when he takes on the Brewers in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Jarred Cosart fired seven shutout innings Saturday in the Marlins' 4-0 blanking of the Braves.

Cosart scattered seven hits and a walk over his seven dominant frames, striking out five. He struggled in his first start with the Marlins back on August 1, but the trade deadline acquisition has been dominant since. He's now 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA in a Miami uniform.

Jarred Cosart held the Angels to one run and seven hits over 7 2/3 innings in the Marlins' 7-1 win on Monday.

Cosart whiffed four and issued one free pass. The right-hander is 2-1 with a superb 2.08 ERA in five starts since arriving in Miami, but we're a little concerned with his ability to sustain the success. After all, Cosart has struck out just 12 over 26 innings. He's been particularly hot in the last week-plus, allowing two runs in 20 2/3 innings over his last three starts. Looking to carry over the success, Cosart gets the Braves next time around.
Tue, Aug 26, 2014 01:33:00 AM

Jarred Cosart pitched six innings and allowed one run Tuesday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

Cosart left with a two-run lead, but that was blown right away in the seventh with some help from a Giancarlo Stanton tumbling pass in right field. Cosart has a nice 2.45 ERA in three starts since arriving in Miami, even though he's struck out just eight over 18 1/3 innings. It helps a lot that he's gone five straight starts without allowing a homer dating back to his Astros tenure.
Tue, Aug 19, 2014 11:57:00 PM

Jarred Cosart held the Cardinals to three hits over seven innings in the Marlins' 3-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Cosart, making his first start since August 1, appeared to be unaffected by the oblique injury that forced him to miss his last start. The right-hander gave up just three singles, walking one while striking out three. The win was his first as a member of the Marlins, and he's 10-8 overall. He'll take on the Diamondbacks, another winnable game, on Sunday.
