Jarred Cosart was all over the place in his final start of the season Friday, walking eight batters in a loss to the Nationals.
Cosart somehow managed to give up only three runs -- two earned -- over his five innings, but he was misfiring all day. He struck out three and yielded four hits, including a home run. The 24-year-old hadn't walked more than two batters in his previous nine outings for the Marlins while holding a 2.29 ERA. He ends up with a 3.69 ERA overall between the Astros and Marlins, but his 115/73 K/BB ratio over 180 1/3 frames suggests that he was pretty luck to have a mark that low. Jarred Cosart picked up his 13th victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Braves to three runs on five hits over 7 2/3 innings of work.

The young right-hander struck out six and walked just one on the night. He has been tremendous since coming over in a trade from the Astros, posting a 4-1 record, 1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings in his six starts. He'll look to keep it rolling when he takes on the Brewers in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Jarred Cosart fired seven shutout innings Saturday in the Marlins' 4-0 blanking of the Braves.

Cosart scattered seven hits and a walk over his seven dominant frames, striking out five. He struggled in his first start with the Marlins back on August 1, but the trade deadline acquisition has been dominant since. He's now 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA in a Miami uniform.

Jarred Cosart held the Angels to one run and seven hits over 7 2/3 innings in the Marlins' 7-1 win on Monday.

Cosart whiffed four and issued one free pass. The right-hander is 2-1 with a superb 2.08 ERA in five starts since arriving in Miami, but we're a little concerned with his ability to sustain the success. After all, Cosart has struck out just 12 over 26 innings. He's been particularly hot in the last week-plus, allowing two runs in 20 2/3 innings over his last three starts. Looking to carry over the success, Cosart gets the Braves next time around.

Jarred Cosart pitched six innings and allowed one run Tuesday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

Cosart left with a two-run lead, but that was blown right away in the seventh with some help from a Giancarlo Stanton tumbling pass in right field. Cosart has a nice 2.45 ERA in three starts since arriving in Miami, even though he's struck out just eight over 18 1/3 innings. It helps a lot that he's gone five straight starts without allowing a homer dating back to his Astros tenure.

Jarred Cosart held the Cardinals to three hits over seven innings in the Marlins' 3-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Cosart, making his first start since August 1, appeared to be unaffected by the oblique injury that forced him to miss his last start. The right-hander gave up just three singles, walking one while striking out three. The win was his first as a member of the Marlins, and he's 10-8 overall. He'll take on the Diamondbacks, another winnable game, on Sunday.

Jarred Cosart (oblique) has been cleared to start on Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Cosart was scratched from his last outing with a sore oblique, but he got through a bullpen session Saturday with no issues. "It feels good now, and I’m good to go," Cosart said. "I’m over it now. I let it go pretty good [Saturday] just to make sure."

Jarred Cosart has been scratched from his scheduled Thursday start in Pittsburgh due to a sore oblique.

Brian Flynn will take the mound in his place. Cosart struggled in his Marlins debut last Friday night against the Reds, surrendering four runs in 5 1/3 innings. He is aiming to return to the rotation on Tuesday.

Jarred Cosart gave up four runs in 5 1/3 innings in his first start for the Marlins on Friday, a 5-2 loss to the Reds.

Acquired from the Astros on Thursday, Cosart was cruising until the sixth, when the Reds scored three of their four runs. The big blow was a two-run double by Ryan Ludwick. Cosart was pulled after just 82 pitches. He struck out four and walked three. With the Astros, he held a 4.41 ERA. Cosart is scheduled to face the Pirates in his next start.

Jarred Cosart will make his Marlins' debut on Friday against the Reds.

He'll take the spot of Jacob Turner, who is presumably headed to the bullpen. Acquire via trade from the Astros on Thursday, Cosart holds a 4.41 ERA with just 75 strikeouts over 116 1/3 innings this season. He's not really an option in mixed leagues.

Marlins general manager Mike Hill said Thursday that Jarred Cosart could make his team debut as soon as Friday against the Reds.

It doesn't appear to be set in stone yet, but he would be on five days' rest that day. Jacob Turner is currently slated to start Friday, so he could be moved to the bullpen or to Triple-A.

Marlins acquired RHP Jarred Cosart, INF/OF Enrique Hernandez and OF Austin Wates from the Astros in exchange for OF Jake Marisnick, 3B Colin Moran, RHP Frances Martes and a 2015 compensation pick.

Cosart has posted a 3.57 ERA over his first 30 major league starts and is under control for a few more years, but his 4.13 FIP and 1.42 WHIP suggests that a regression is coming. He will at least get to pitch in a very pitcher-friendly park but isn't much of a fantasy option with his low strikeout rate.
Thu, Jul 31, 2014 04:47:00 PM's Brian McTaggart reports that the Marlins have acquired Jarred Cosart and Enrique Hernandez from the Astros.

Colin Moran, Jake Marisnick and a compensation pick are expected to head to the Astros in the deal. Cosart has posted a 3.57 ERA over his first 30 major league starts and is under control for a few more years, but Houston probably did well to sell him off for what was a nice return.

Houston is "very, very busy" taking calls on Jarred Cosart, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

The 24-year-old is 9-7 with a 4.41 ERA and will exit this season with just 1.070 years service time, leaving him under club control for years. The Astros will need to be presented with an offer they can't refuse, but GM Jeff Luhnow is apparently fishing hard.

Jarred Cosart gave up five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday in the Astros' loss to the Marlins.

Cosart struggled right out of the gate, yielding a first-inning RBI single to Casey McGehee and then four runs in the second inning. He's really fallen off the rails lately, now with a 4.41 ERA and 1.46 WHIP on the year. A home start against the Blue Jays is next.
