Moises Sierra (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Monday.

He should remain there for a few more days before being activated when rosters expand. Sierra has batted .236/.265/.345 with two homers over 84 games between the Blue Jays and White Sox this season.
Aug 27 - 9:42 AM

White Sox placed OF Moises Sierra on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.

With how tricky oblique injuries can be, Sierra is expected to be sidelined longer than 15 days. The 25-year-old outfielder was hitting .289/.317/.430 with two homers and seven RBI in 114 at-bats with the White Sox.
Aug 16 - 3:26 PM

Moises Sierra finished 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against the Tigers on Thursday.

Sierra raised his average from .214 to .237 in his first start in eight days. He probably isn't looking at an expanded role down the stretch after the White Sox failed to trade an outfielder today.
Jul 31 - 6:40 PM

Moises Sierra went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

It was a rare sighting of offense from Sierra, who has played sparingly this season. He took Mark Buehrle out to left field in the fourth inning for his second home run of the season. Sierra also doubled and scored in the ninth, helping the White Sox add some late insurance runs. Sierra, who was selected by the White Sox off of waivers from the Blue Jays in early May, is slashing .278/.303/.417 with five RBI in 76 plate appearances with his new team.
Jun 29 - 3:48 PM

Moises Sierra singled in pinch-runner Leury Garcia in the bottom of the ninth to give the White Sox a 3-2 win over the Indians on Wednesday.

Sierra has been limited to playing against lefties lately, so this was just his second start in nine days. He's hitting .273 with four RBI in 44 at-bats as a member of the White Sox since being claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays on May 3. His role really shouldn't expand further, so his AL-only value is very limited.
May 28 - 11:23 PM

Moises Sierra went 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

Sierra was designated for assignment just five days ago after getting two hits in his first 34 at-bats with the Blue Jays. On Tuesday, Sierra tripled that hit total. The four-hit game was also the first of his career.
May 7 - 12:37 AM

White Sox claimed outfielder Moises Sierra off waivers from the Blue Jays.

With Jordan Danks set to take an expanded role in the White Sox outfield in Adam Eaton's absence, Sierra figures to become Alejandro De Aza's platoon partner and start against lefties. He's hit .238/.294/.426 with four homers in 101 at-bats versus southpaws in the majors. That's not great, but it makes him a better option than anyone the White Sox had in Triple-A.
May 3 - 2:51 PM

Blue Jays designated OF Moises Sierra for assignment.

Sierra was batting .059 with a .145 OPS and nine strikeouts in 35 plate appearances this season for Toronto. The 25-year-old outfielder flashed decent power in the minors and could draw some interest on waivers.
May 1 - 10:50 AM

Moises Sierra went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's loss and is just 2-for-34 with one walk this season.

The Jays figure to keep their eyes open for a right-handed bat to replace Sierra on the roster. As much as he's struggling in Adam Lind's absence, they should consider start using Dioner Navarro and Josh Thole in the lineup together on occasion, with one DHing.
Apr 30 - 11:45 PM

According to Gregor Chisholm of, Moises Sierra is the early favorite to platoon at first base with Adam Lind.

Mark DeRosa functioned as a platoon partner for Lind in 2013, but has since retired. The 25-year-old has played exclusively in the outfield during his major league career, but has begun taking grounders at first base in order to improve his versatility. Sierra is out of options, and may be squeezed off the roster if he can't make the transition.

Moises Sierra was hitless in four at-bats in his return to action Thursday.

Sierra sprained his ankle during Tuesday's contest but sat out just one game. The ankle shouldn't be an issue for him during the final weekend.

Moises Sierra (ankle) is expected back in the lineup Thursday.

Sierra sprained his left ankle after making a catch on the warning track during Tuesday's game. He could be available off the bench Wednesday, though, before returning Thursday.

Moises Sierra won't play Wednesday and could sit out Thursday, as well, after spraining his left ankle during Tuesday's game.

Moises Sierra left Tuesday's game against the Orioles with an apparent left foot injury.
